Might sound hollow, but me putting Bag Man and Classic Hawkeye out there was not an attempt to 'game' the system, in terms of tanking my overall rank. Was simply trying to give some easy iso back to those who I have hit in the past! Noticed that matchmaking has gone haywire since, but if all this results in an overall better matchmaking system, I will be happy for it.

Wasn't you, but there was definently a bagman Santa out there in the mag round. He gifted me my first purple mag (yay!) as I was low on heals (started with only 1, had 0 by about 33 min left with no possible replenish) and ranked about 42 when I had to go help someone do something. Ended up walking around a grocery store for 15 min looking at my phone swapping through to find Santa and his merry elfs after I found him twice.

So, while au h things lost me a round earlier, what I think is an unfortunate mechanic worked in my favor this time. And again...

Been lurking for quite some time now and had to sign up to say how competitive the last magneto lightning round was with the top 10 mostly over 600! It's also my first time seeing the leader (fangel) well over the 700 mark! I believe that's a lightning tourny record?

I barely got my diabolical in the last mag round. Rag was even more intense after that. I pretty much say rags out in recovery.

Ok, who the heck was that in the top 10 in the Rags round that was running the default L15 Rags, a L50 IM35, and a L40 Juggernaut?!?!?

Seriously, I was getting 25 points off him at the end. And I had over 600 points.

And I finished top 2 -- NO MORE RAGS FOR ME. Thank god. That was 90 minutes of insanity, particularly the last half hour.

I doubt he made #1, but I'd be surprised if he didn't finish top 8. Meanwhile everyone else I saw near the top of the point board had either a high level Rags or a high level Rags and a high level Mags/Doom. I was running 85 Wolv, 89 Rags, 75 Mags.

New to this board, Fangel was praying off me. I ended up around top 10 somehow with my fairly lowly team of 38 Mag/85 thor/77 wolverine. I think Fangel attacked me at least 8x. Dumdum did too. Not sure how in the world I ended up in the same bracket as you guys.

Got my Mag cover still but really wanted T8 for a blue, I was basically stuck at the #10 spot for the last 20 min barely covering what I was losing. Still 0/2/3

Partly it's due to the time commitment. But I've got:

90 IM40
81 Thor
68 Captain
62 Wolvie
58 C Storm
58 Daken

as my highest levels. Also have: 38 Doom, 35 Hood, 32 Loki, 25 Rag (only 2 red covers) and 20 Magneto for the villains.

I think I have every cover in the game, just most aren't all that levelled up.

Happily. I'll still pop up to 100 or 250 and then Bagman down though. I made a fair number of points off of others in that Rags tourney who did that.

Still need Mag covers, although not purple anymore. Played the Mag round as well, stopped with a couple minutes to go at #26. Somehow ended up in top 25... no biggie, the Diabolical probably would've been another bloody Loki anyway.

From some previous experiences, if you do NOT tank your rating beforehand then you can play a bit at the beginning and then just the last 15-30 minutes and end up in pretty much the same place as if you'd played constantly. If you do tank your rating, however, then you pretty much have to play constantly so you have decent matches in the end.

That said... I would highly recommend you put ISO into Wolvie if he has max covers and a good build (I favor 5/3/5, but 5/4/4 or 5/5/3 also work -- 5 green is a must though). As long as he's tanking most of the time you can run pretty much constantly without using a heal pack. Just avoid high level villains.

For the third I'd probably go with Thor (again, as long as you level Wolvie up higher so he can tank; if they're the same level then Wolverine will take 1 or 2 colors from Thor depending on how you arrange them) since the C Storm throwaway strategy is dead. And I'd mostly use the default villains and try to get them to take any big power hits the AI is going to throw -- although having Wolverine take them is okay as long as you can put him in the back for a couple turns.

A Thor/Wolverine team is also unlikely to get attacked by anyone that isn't running high level villains; there's nothing you can do to stop those teams anyway though, I'm sorry to say. Hopefully it'll let you get into the top 50 in some of the less contested rounds (apparently Doom is the least played, but I bet Loki is second) and get a Diabolical token. Avoid Hood rounds except to get some quick ISO -- the scoring on them is nightmarish.
