I always thought it was an odd choice to go with yellow over something like red which is associated with a heart. If the character used was someone else like OML or another non-purple user then yeah I could see purple being a default color for all characters.ElReyFelix said:

Well, going off of the image that was posted it looks like a purple cover was targeted. So my biggest questions would be how many characters in a tier can be targeted at once and if one character can be targeted for multiple covers at a time.ElReyFelix said:@IceIX

@dokiy I don't think it'll be that. Can you imagine the sheer outrage if you needed shards to even obtain one character in a time where the devs have acknowledged that dilution is a problem?0 -

CAN WE USE THIS WITH ANY RARITY CHAR? 5 INCLUDED?
There is 0 ways of getting 5s other than opening LTs (or buying them for crazy amount of CP), so I hope there is a new way of getting a particular 5 char.

There are absolutely 0 implementation details here, so I'm reserving judgement either way. The concept of targeted roster growth is great, but there are so many ways the implementation could not align with my play style that it could end up being something I never use anyway. Hopefully it's a net positive for everyone though, lord knows these devs take a lot of heat for every change lol. I'm sure for them, knocking items off the backlog probably feels like pulling tokens out of the Classic Legends store - Sisyphean progress against an always moving bar lol.
I kind of hope that this feature turns out to be individual character XP, and you'll have to use under-covered characters in fights to turn all these Magikarps into Gyardoses rather than another RNG layer on top of organic draws with a smaller bonus hit chance, but we'll see.
I'm also very curious if, like with Shield Clearance Levels, there is some possibility of assigning retro-active progress to it and everyone who would have otherwise qualified for it all along will get a big "here you go!" dump of whatever the thing is. </wishful thinking>5 -
While new avenues to acquiring characters is always welcome news, until we get more concrete details I do think it would be wise to temper one's expectations.6

I could also see this feature being cool if it ONLY helped you go from 0->13 covers, rather than for grinding out champ levels. In that sense it would be a solid catch-up strategy to help stimulate the Middle Class of transitioners, rather than something that just helps the Haves have more.7

That definitely feels like a fair compromise to me. Exactly this. You just know you are going to have to finish top 10 in a PVE to earn one token towards a cover. Now the real question is... can you target villains

But, really, as long as it's not tied to a VIP tier or hard spending, it should be a net positive. I remember those threads that popped up in our neck of the woods a few months ago re: the VIP tiers in there Magic game.

It's the latter. I do not get any special access to information about the game. I learn about new features and changes the same as everyone else here. But I have been around long enough to see people get their hopes up only for things to not work out as they had wished (myself included). It's definitely something to be curious about and look forward to but let's find out how it will work first before jumping to any conclusions.liminal_lad said:
