This thread is very interesting and all (thanks for the memes, Twysta, made my morning, they did).

But HOW on earth do you climb to 1100, 1200 even without a single shield? These days I am having trouble climbing uninterrupted to 900-950 even - maybe the timing is wrong, not sure. If you don't want to give away ALL of your secrets, just tell me if tanking plays a major role or not. Pretty please? icon_lol.gif

Edit: by 'interrupted' I mean like getting attacked every 5 minutes and going 1 step forward 2 steps back.

It's about smart roster composition, good lineup shuffling & boosting the ISO boosts
Nothing people don't already know. KINGsucram just is the best at that lol

It's incredible to see such devotion of you guys over a f2p game.

I play this game since october and like many others here, I've spent something around $0. I know all my alliance members personally, and we have fun debating what to do, giving tips to the newcomers and so on. I'm glad to play with them and its totally fine if we don't get anywhere near the top rewards (we all have a life you know...).
But it's amazing to see how brutal these alliance drama is becoming, and I guess it's all about priorities.
If someone wants to cheat, cheat...
I really don't care. My life its not gonna change because of that, since I have many other priorities in my life than this game.

    Now, proceed... hahahaha

Ah, the "guy who posts in the thread to tell everyone that he does not care about the contents of the thread."

    That's my I-4. BINGO!

I think you got me wrong. It's really funny reading all of this.
It's kinda sad, but funny indeed!! hahahahaha

This thread has been like a good episode on the Investigation Discovery channel. The story always seems to change subtly the more the detectives pry. Nazerith is now trying to lawyer up his posse. Can we just fast forward to the end when someone works out a deal to out these guys?

Please do tell how the story has changed?
you know it reminds me a bit of the lance armstrong case.. When he won his first tour de France, everybody knew there was something unusual going on.. racing cyclists knew, the press knew, ppl knew.. he defended himself by being overly aggressive saying thats just intense training, top organisation and preparation.. but suscipion couldnt go away cause numbers didnt add up.. there were non stop drama, some taking his side, some annointing him as a cheater.. some sayin is one of a kind.. at the end, we all know what happened..

I couldn't agree more Mikey. I came to this forum for advice on how to build characters or news on what is happening next. We all seem to like this game so I bet we are all fairly similar. This thread is a bit exhausting.

I was on The X-Men 3 last season. This season I moved to X2. I can tell all of you with certainty I have not seen any discussions about any type of cheating within our walls. I have talked with several members about strategy. I even asked Flo directly how he made a push to 1300 yesterday without a hood (that discussion happened about 10 hours before this thread was made). Because I was curious too. I wondered if living in the US i just get hit more during my play hours. In any event, I was satisfied by the responses I was given and I am considering making some roster moves myself now. I can see how our players who want to achieve a high score are able to do so. It requires a lot of a player. In some cases money, tons of time, patience and even teamwork. Commitment to this game through-out a work day even. I am not one of those players. I play a lot by normal people standards icon_e_smile.gif but I think we all know the top players in this game take it to a new level. Every alliance has studs in it and I think its very obvious who those players are in the top 5 alliances.

Now SHIELD members have gone over 1500 on this event. Members from the same alliance as the topic creator. This was a number that people are raving about in the first few pages of this thread. Yet here we are a day later and we have more people obtaining it. Are they cheating too? No of course not. I think its fairly obvious what is required to attain a score like that without losing points along the way. Obviously players in XM or SHIELD have decided those requirements are worth it to them.

I can tell you its important to some people to win those bragging rights. In XM, 5D, and SHIELD the same. Otherwise people in all 3 alliances wouldn't be making huge pushes right now for the same rewards...... The result is a net loss in HP. D3 loves it I can assure you. In the end its cool to me that at the top there is healthy competition. It would be cooler if D3 actually gave us a reason to strive for a podium reward.... Instead it appears the community wants the competition so badly that they are willing to sacrifice rewards for the sake of bragging rights.

Anyway, I figured Id give you my take from someone on the inside here. My experience with this team has been great so far. Lots of nice people. Actually a lot more lax than I would have expected before joining. There are players of all types in the "mystery men". I'm just a player like anyone else. Trying to hold on for more covers icon_e_smile.gif

Bonebreak, you seem like a genuinely decent bloke, and sensible to boot. You're in X-Men 2, so you clearly know how the game operates as well. So, if you're convinced by what Flo98 told you (though, may I add, like us, you were initially intrigued by his performance), then fine - I believe you. I still don't know how or why Flo's roster looks the way it does, and I don't think that's the way to play the game. But for what it's worth, in my mind, the case is settled - Flo98 isn't a cheater.

    Cheers.

PS: This thread is exhausting for an X-Men I'm sure. It's been good value for the neutrals though. But if you read through the posts made by your fellow X-Men, you might see why it degenerated and dragged on the way it did. It takes two hands to clap, for sure, but I think you get my drift.

PSS: Majority (>80%) of the 5DVs make a profit every PVP. Me included. You can ask Psykopathic if you like. That's the only bit in your post I felt I needed to comment on.

But doing it with the aforementioned roster is more like Lance Armstrong winning the Tour De France on a kids microscooter. Or this:

May I direct you towards this article, http://www.vice.com/read/so-wait-who-ac ... nce-titles . Flo hasn't been defending himself, others from the X-Men have, with reason and knowledge of him as a player.

Unfortunately, most X-Men threads now become a applause to continue your metaphor.
I'd say most of the X-Men turn a profit from PVP's even if we spend a little top bolster our rosters occasionally. It's just our top scorers who aren't likely to do so.
  • Just FYI, Dark Silence of X-men was in my bracket -- 4 page roster with first page full of 141s. Got to top10 in last leg, at -15m shielded at #3 ~1060 pts. Then unshielded mere 2 minutes later (go figure), and started our usual rollercoaster, up by 10, 30 meanwhile losing 70-100 pts, in last 5 mins managed down to 1010 even. Then shielded for the last minute on ~1040.

That looked like natural MPQ experience with mindless spending on shields.

Now you say others can do much better without even a roster to mention up over 1500?
  • Let's see....

    X-Men 2
    clf02
    Slf02c

    X-men 3

    laokoon

The X-Men knowingly invite at least one hacked account into their alliance because they know that CS will just ban the "cheater" account while leaving the rest of them untouched. And everyone in there either knows it or does not want to know.

I'll say this, I was just checking the board last night, and started reading this and could not stop. It definitely has been the funniest and most interesting thing on here in over a week.

Friends don't create "very similar names," they're more likely to have DISSIMILAR names so they can tell each other apart while playing together icon_e_confused.gif

Careful there, you might pull a muscle.

So, what's the angle here. The hacked account gets to buy 20 slots then it steps aside or gets boxed and then the Xmen have another new 20 accounts to play with.

Maybe in some other reality you exist in but i have never seen anything like that.

Friend 1: Hey John you really should play MPQ with me, it's a great game. My ign is PoopPoopHead1234567

Friend 2: Sounds like fun, hang on i'll create a name just like yours for giggles. My ign is now PoopPoopHead12345678

    Yeah Makes sense.

There are 2 in the main alliance that end in 400, because for sure, of the 100000+ playing this game, 2 whose names end in 400 just happen to end up in the top alliance.

And one of these guys was nowhere to be seen on any of the Xmen rosters if you click on the season 2 scores.

Agreed with a lot of your comments but some 5dv members have made a new scenario. Start 0 til at least 1.1k to use 1 shield than hop once if necessary. Doing this gets me above 1200. Last pvp got to 1149 with no shields and pvp before got to 1209 before using my first shield. So I don't spend money and as far as pvp score maybe 2 hours give or take on time so not much for that. I also start at earliest 12 hours before the end unless lr issue comes up. Most of my gaming time is pve which lately sucks and lr which i grind but is fun I often use 1 shield and break 1200. But some of us are crazy and most people don't use this method.

Just for clarification, this is a 3 hour shield correct? Times must have changed since back in the day because I remember it being near impossible to get past 1050 at the 3 hour mark if you were grinding from scratch.

Yup just 1 3 hour shield is my goal and I'm usually done with pvp. With tanking it can take about 2 hours I use boosts around 900-1k range. Nodes are worth big pts so it's easier to do it quickly. But don't wanna give all my secrets away icon_e_smile.gif

Not that I have anything against you, Sucram, but I spent half of Season 2 in your brackets--down to the point where I could tell this forum pretty much the hour that you come into pvps--and you were shield hopping well-before 1100 on most occasions. Not always, and *usually* only after 1000, but definitely the majority. On average, you've been hopping 2-3x in each PvP, sometimes more.

Yes your literally in my bracket all the time. You and blood war. I used to hop a lot more I think the most I used this season was 4 3 hour shields. Maybe 5 one time unsure. The last 3 weeks I'd say that is incorrect. As I said 1209 with before i shielded think I used 2 more to break 1300. and hit 1149 last pvp with no shields. This one shielded at like 1110 and that was bc I had work. So please pay better attention next time bc I don't hop as much as u think I do.

There are exceptions, but generally for very good reasons.

There was a whole guild of people in Star Wars Galaxies who would use variations on the same word-salad name intentionally. It was a gang of Wookies who did it becauseit made it hard for opponents to target them in a zerg-rush if you had to make sure you typed Kashyyk vs Kashyyyk, K@shyyk, etc.

That isn't exactly a valid strategy in MPQ, though.

  • This whole thing reminds me of a particular college football program which went from mediocrity into a major player in a short period of time and had a blustering head coach. People knew they were succeeding but weren't 100% sure of how they were doing it.

When the head coach left for greener pastures, it became clear that the reason they were winning was that they'd take any shady piece of talent out there, including people kicked out of other more respected programs, and that the inmates were running the asylum there.
