I feel like Odin was meant as a defensive pain in the neck, but it was too easy to get around it. The typical MPQ threshold trigger scaling problems also made him really tough to justify over several better options.

Odin was my write in my candidate, too, but aside from a numbers adjustment, I really think he’s looking for the right partners to shine. It’s just theorycrafting on my part, but Odin, Ascended Lizard with Quantum Realm Support (whenever both are available) and Ascended Karnak might be it.

This thread seems to be getting back on track...

    Problem is, I don't care.

I thought we were going to have the opportunity to really choose a character to be rebalanced/reworked. I don't know what I thought that would look like, or even why I thought that was the case at this point, but it's what I thought was happening. They definitely didn't say we'd be choosing from a small selection of characters.

What we got was a choice between some preordained characters, only a few of which were real options.... (Strange is going to win, I'd put money in it if I knew that was allowed.)

A lame write in option at the end doesn't qualify as giving us a real choice as something from the list is obviously going to get chosen.

This thread getting sidetracked was a great distraction from what is a huge disappointment.

Now that it's once again about rebalancing characters that were never really an option, I'm reminded of the disappointment.

Talking about whether or not Odin (for example) needs a rework is as much a change of subject as discussing MCU spoilers because Odin isn't an option in the survey and none of those write ins are going to happen... At least there's no real reason to believe a write in vote will lead to a rebalance.

Even when this thread focused on why/why not to rebalance characters it hasn't been about anyone that was an option to vote for... Which, at the very least, hints at a disconnect between players and makers of the game.

I'm not telling anyone to not discuss anything they want, just venting about the frivolity of it all.

What if they rebalance Dr. Strange to have Odin's powers?

Based on this thread... Dr Strange would need another rework.

I haven’t tried running ascended Shuri with Odin and Heimdall, but that may be useful now. I’ll check it in Sim and find out.

Of course it would never happen, but the best reworks they could roll out would be to change the primary colors on a few characters to give them better synergy with characters they should have synergy with. Example: make OR’s active colors literally anything other than red/yellow so he could pair with Apoc. Another example: don’t make all the versions of Peggy, Jane, and Worthy with the exact same colors and create characters that would have fed each other’s powers if they didn’t overlap 100%. It’s frustrating. Or create a character that has a power that changes the primary colors for his teammates.

It’s pretty sustainable offensively, it’s just that they are all active on red so I expect it not to defend so well.

Just thought of the best costume idea yet. Have thrown out the idea of have costumes change affiliations or even give buffs like supports. I still think they should be able to change affiliations, but what about different costumes changing a character’s primary colors? I would love to see costumes do both of those things.

Mr Sinister and Arcade might be a fun trap tile team if they didn't have the exact same colors.

Most of these characters share colors as a balancing mechanism. Without the overlap they'd be way too strong.

You're talking about a change that would improve many of the very best characters in the game, and meanwhile we've still got total trash like 5* Black Widow and 4* Spider-woman floating around. I'd much rather they fix those guys before buffing Apocalypse.

I have him favourited now which I guess is the same idea.

I think the first targets for rebalance need to be the 5s that have pretty much identical 3 versions like Dr. Strange. First of all, the 3* version of Strange is going to be drastically stronger than his counterpart by the time he is 5*. Second, do you really want two of him with the exact same powers? Even though Strange is a mainstay, they need to rework his powers. Can’t really rework the 3* after some of us just bought the deal with 125 covers.

Would really like to see them update Strange’s number and change his purple power to lower the cost and make it more like Hela’s red, but replacing enemy tiles with attacks instead. That would set him up to function really well with Wong, since he would create the only type of SAP Wong doesn’t. Really would like to see them do things like this to create synergy between characters that make sense to pair together.

I think this will be a broader issue down the line when more 3s will be ascended to 5s. So many 3/5 pairs have the same/similar powers. With ascension here, I am in favor of much more distinct 3/5 pairs, plus more frequent 3 skips

Sad to report 5* Flaptain was a big letdown. Petition to have his passive decrement repeaters.
