Unofficial Forum Contest: High Evolutionary

From what I have seen and experienced.
To me, it seems like the match damage trump card is 1 mill combined damage to bust through normal damage reduction.
I saw this on Huggernot before and I just thought it was from damage increases but after working with Elektra for a while something is just breaking.
Maybe around 10 mill to bust through shadow step to get pure damage through.
I know the last time I did this my Evo was around 30 mill HP and he matched through 2 shadow steps. Then downed elektra the next turn.2 -
Current (final?) leaders are:
3* Evo: @rainkingucd 2,069,062,397
5* Evo: @Blackstone 92,564,8013 -
That number is probably the end of assignable blocks (?) for health since I'm sure they never inteded for character to have that much health. Going beyond that sets it to 1 I guess.
They probably had a choice between a 16-bit binary number โ which is only about 65k โ and a 32-bit number (the 2.1 billion).
32-bit was the obvious choice. Though, arenโt we glad that they donโt use all of that real estate?

I can't get higher on the 3* because it flips to 1/1.
But that's ok, @rainkingucd was a motivator for me see how far I could go with it.
And this competition was much more fun than the TU thing going on.

Personal experience rant:
I've been playing this game for a decade. I'm on day 3185 (this would be higher except i had several gaps in play while deployed or doing Army things where I didn't have a phone) and I can't remember the last time I had this much fun.
This game has been a relaxation tool, a stress reliever, an outlet for my collection addiction, and a daily source of consistency in a sometimes chaotic life.
For these reasons, I appreciate and love this game, even when there are missteps that cause a bit of disappointment.
I have a full roster, and most of my 5s are champed, though none are maxxed to 550. Because of this I sometimes feel like I'm behind the curve on some topics. I could blame a below average pull rate for 5s in legendary tokens, but that's a copout and feels disrespectful to those that simply made more efficient choices. I can't hoard. I just can't leave those little numbers alone as they taunt me just by existing. No saving, no picking the right characters, just grabbing as I go, and luck hasn't always been there for me. But I can champ 5's now without needing to hoard or save now, so I'm still moving up hill. The point is, this contest reminded me why I play this game, and helped me feel relevant again.
This (unofficial) contest has provided everything I enjoy about the game. We had a clear goal that required increasingly complicated means to achieve. One needed to keep track of several things (your powers, enemy powers, full control of the board, timing, etc) to be successful. Drama as one player overcame another. Excitement as I realized I was getting close to a milestone.
Moreso, I've enjoyed the sense of community, fairplay, and mutual motivation. Early in the contest I thought others were achieving things I couldn't hope to match. I asked questions, received advice, forged my own methods, and passed on my own findings. Together we achieved something that may not seem like a big deal, but feels good nonetheless. For me anyway.
I was motivated by others, and hope I did the same for them.
Anyway, thank you to all who participated. I hope we can do it again sometime.
My in game name is Jack.ops (my name is Jackson and I was a Combat Engineer Operations Sergeant) and it's been fun playing with you.
Rant complete.

Doesn't feel too ranty - I don't even see Chasm mentioned once which I think is a pre-requisite for a forum rant around here!
Good post though - lots of similarities in your thoughts and playstyle etc to me. I didn't take part in this contest, but did used to be in the Line group that did similar stuff back in the day. Was fun to try and properly puzzle through the game to keep things fresh.
I hope the Devs are paying attention to the interest this thread created compared to the TU challenge they set.

This game can be very fun when you're engaging with it in the ways that the devs have built (trying to win at PvP or PvE etc), but it's limited. It's not a bad or good thing, it just is. It's the same fights and the same modes and the same strategies over and over again, for YEARS.
I remember one PvP event (it was the launch event for 4* Deadpool) where our alliance decided to set the all-time PvP record, and we did. We ended up each hitting 5000 points (don't ask how, the game was quite different then -- this was after limited shields but before cupcakes).
There was no reason to do that. We weren't competing with anyone -- we took first place by a mile. And yet, all banding together to do that one very dumb, pointless thing made that particular event more memorable and more fun than 99% of the PvP events I've played in 10 years of this.
It's too bad that the forum doesn't keep records like that anymore, and it's too bad that so much of the community has abandoned that kind of spirit, in favor of mindlessly winning, minmaxing to support that, then joylessly, mindlessly winning more forever.

Totally agreed. Not at all a rant. A lovely sentiment and really a fantastic thread all around. A great challenge, fun to achieve, and a well timed Puzzle Gauntlet to really make it work. Thank you @entrailbucket for making the thread, and @Blackstone especially for constantly one upping everyone and motivating me personally to try just one more time, each time

I got this in my inbox this morning. What a nice surprise! Thanks everyone for this fun challenge
In regards to the forum rewards, the mod team along with the forum administrators decided to reward participants of the Unofficial Forum Contest: High Evolutionary for an awesome display of puzzlemanship. It seems we forgot to notify the actual participants. Sorry for the mix-up!

It seems @rainkingucd beat me to the punch but just to avoid any further potential confusion, the mod team and forum administrators decided to reward the contest organizer, @entrailbucket , and participants in this forum contest with some in-game goodies. It was really awesomestuff! Thank you for your creativity and positive vibes tackling this challenge!
We have already sent out rewards for those members whose forum name matches their in-game name and have contacted those who we have had trouble finding in-game. Please check your forum message inbox if you haven't already received your rewards.
Hopefully we can do something like this again in the near future.
Have a great weekend everyone!

YAY, thank you for picking up my suggestion!

That is fantastic! Well done to all who contributed to this thread which has been a fun read - well deserved!
Now...if one of you High Evolutionary experts can get my HighEvo/Elektra team working, that would be just smashing!
1 -
I saw the rewards when I woke up. Thanks so much to the dev's who continue to be very generous.

That was really nice of them, and not at all expected. If I could, I'd have given my rewards to the participants (I didn't really do anything) but you guys definitely deserve them for putting on a great show!
Let's figure out another contest to run for the next Puzzle Gauntlet!

That's your problem, it's Electro, not Electra ๐

It's easy! Hevo to boost Elektra, then Elektra uses Block to block damage, and Red to drain purple/black/red and keep the cycle going.
Although it will take a lot of Hevo boosts to get 4* Elektra high enough to tank

Both you and Blackstone are probably more familiar with 4* Elektra's powers than anyone else who's ever played this game.

Finally, I can write in this thread! Unfortunately, it's too late to be a real participant in the contest. I didn't even know about the contest until after I made my attempt against Professor X in the lower track (I recall that was where either Loki or Patch were required).
I liked it because yellow tiles fell a lot more, and I thought the invisibility tile would protect Xavier indefinitely.
Much like others, I discovered that eventually H3vo's massive level overcame the invisibility, right after I took the screenshot that I'm attempting to attach to this post.
8 -
Hahahahaha what!? You can match damage through invisibility? That is wild.
Good job!

We're learning a lot more about the coding than we were ever meant to, I think ๐คฃ
This is great!
Wonder what else we can break with enough dedication.4
