Cosmic Chaos: Your thoughts on the new PVE

After playing this new PVE, I wondered what people’s thoughts were on this.  Here are my take aways.

New items:

In sub Yellow node/loaner node:  1 CLEAR LOCKING!!!!!!!  I am soooo excited about this and have been asking/begging for this to be looked at. Really hoping this makes it into all PVEs in the future!!!

Main Sub screen yellow/loaner node:
Have to use Cap Mar 5* and you give a loaner if needed.  This is a good way to have people test them out and would have no problem if they did this for all PVEs but use whoever is to be the 5E at that time.

1 clear on sub page last node: Other PVEs have this but this is a 5* by itself.

Missing a node:
Maybe this is on purpose but missing an Easy node.

Waves node:
Now this was something that was very odd. You had to clear this 4 times to get the timer started.  No other wave has ever been like this and maybe that is why we are missing a node.  Wish we would have known at the start in 1.9.1.

Different teams:
This PVE is like DP vs MPQ in the sense that it is using more characters than goons.  Personally I do not mind this and like a little more of a challenge so it’s good.

Overall:
With the start of  Sub 1, I like this so far but I am very happy if this 1 clear locking yellow/loaner node gets legs and gets into other PVEs.  Would make a lot of people happy.

So....what are your thoughts.

I agree with all your assessments, this is a good start to the PVE.

I used 4CM on the node you mentioned, 5CM was available but I was speed playing, didn’t really notice and just took her in.....too late to test out the 5 CM now.....  oh well.

I would like to hear comment re:  the wave node clears and timer, since I suspect a bug.

Please, Demiurge, convert all of the loaner nodes to 1 clear locking.  Please!  At least on any that are part of the subs.

I haven't started yet, but this "In sub Yellow node/loaner node:  1 CLEAR LOCKING!!!!!!!" is the best MPQ news I've heard in a while! Yes.

The story isn't making much sense, as she is fighting the avengers.. maybe when it's over we can get a storyboard to read all of it, but the event itself is quite fun.

Haven’t started yet but am really pleased the devs changed the loaner node to one and done.  Hope this change becomes the norm for the rest of the pve events.

Enjoying the event so far, but got caught out with the wave node issue. Had to clear two more times just now which has dumped me down to 34th, which is annoying.

I posted this in celebration topic:

First of all, thank you very very much for making the loaner a one-time node!!! Although it has been fun seeing an rival over clear it by accident, it has always been annoying to grind, especially with newer 4* essentials. Much appreciated!

And everybody must agree its good to see such a variety of opponents, right? Also, liked the 1v1, although I probably would have swapped the 1v1 in main with the 3v1 in sub1.. Really appreciate the variety though!

And finally a reduction of the boring trivial nodes! Yeah! Ok, we got a trivial wave2 in return, but at least that saves some no-game clicking.. Wondering if its a bug that wave timer doesnt start before you hit it 4 times instead of the usual 2 times? ( @Brigby ?)

Its only day 1 of 4, but im enthousiastic!

    Alien mind control plot, essentially.
Yeah, the plot tells you what's up.  Rhodes gets affected, targets Carol.  As she gets back to earth, each hero starts getting affected.  Shes beating sense into them, essentially.

I dont think they could've spelled it out better, without giving away the end of story.

Is CM5 a required character in this event? And, if yes, I should play SCL 7, right?

Haven’t faced this situation before if the answer is yes, sorry if it’s an ignorant question...

    EDIT: TYVM @Waddles_Pines!

No.  Daredevil is the required 5*.  Based on the above posts, they give you a 5* Cap Marvel as a loaner, but you can use 4* Carol if you want (I'm assuming you can use the 3 and 2 star Carol also..).

Thanks! TBH playing for placement means skipping story parts, usually when an event is run for the first time, i read it through, but my brain was on auto and i skipped it, by the time i realized it and started reading, it made no sense lol.

Trivial node 1 is only with story? Can still be read if you just retreat afterwards.

There is some dialog on the main hub nodes, the trivial, and the boss node. The rest doesn’t have any, at least in Sub 1.

Most of the nodes don't have any dialogues. Who is the Devourer? They were mentioning this. After beating Iron Man (last node), he came to his senses. Prof. X then send a telepathic message to Carol about what's happening. Next stop: X-Mansion.

I was reading the dialogue and I didn't notice 5* Captain Marvel as a loaner. It defaulted to my highest levelled Captain Marvel instead. The third node, which is usually an easy node, caught me by surprise because I was using Thanos and some meat shields.

The bug in the wave node is going to cost me my placement. Boo!  :'(

All in all, it's something refreshing.

My main comments coming away from this

    1) No poorly implimented special nodes so far that mess things up. No random explosions or board shake that benefits the AI or ruins your strategy. Good stuff.

    2) No dark avengers.

    3) A lot of the newer characters are placed as enemies.

This feels like Prodigal Sun so far, which is one of my favourite events because it's different. We've not had a "Player versus heroes" event since Deadpool Vs MPQ back in 2016. I'm enjoying all of this so far.
It is very odd, however, that the format has changed a little. I can only assume the wave node needing four clears is a bug or an accident and not intentional. I'm just glad I noticed.

I would like the story to be accesible throughout the time the sub is up. Not that its gone once you clear a node and deliberately or accidentally skip story...

Brigby replied in Captain Marvel Celebration topic that it indeed is a bug. The 4x clear that is. Not sure about normal instead of increased points..

The Devourer is what Tony called the mysterious object that was heading in towards them and mind-controlling people. It doesn't really make great sense as a name, but it is a cool one.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this so far. Here's hoping the remaining subs keep it up!

    This?
    http://https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactus

Galactus was featured in the miniseries Infinity Gauntlet #1–6 (July – Dec. 1991), Infinity War #1–6 (June – Nov. 1992) and Cosmic Powers #1–6 (March – Aug. 1994). The character starred in the six-issue miniseries Galactus the Devourer (September 1999 – March 2000), written by Louise Simonson and illustrated by John Buscema, which climaxed with Galactus's death.

    Galactus, Devourer of Worlds...?

In the story its just a name carol throws out and Tony likes. It is referring to the black monolith that is in the background picture on the main story node.
