“With the announcement of Booster Crafting details, this means that we will be discontinuing the Masterpiece Booster Re-Roll Policy next Friday (12/8).“

The reroll policy was really annoying with the emails back and forth, but at least you got something new.  Now we’re talking 400 pinks spent to get a duplicate.  Which is worth 1/10 of a non-dupe mythic.  Pink currency is going to be greatly devalued by this change.

Not to mention the RNG is still horrible.  From the last good pack I pulled five white hours and one red one.  From a pool of 15 possible cards I got the same one five times in a row.

They are Probably coming back the set after Rivals of Ixalan (in a new form like invokations were). They won't be present in EVery set.

This looks really good, better than I was expecting. Guaranteeing new cards from the crafting is a great move, and I think shows some attention to the desires of the players.

I have a slightly tangential, but related, question on sets and rotations @Brigby. Do you have any information you can share on the status of the Kaladesh and Aether Revolt cards once the new set is released?

For crafting purposes it would be good to know if they are going to fall out of standard in the near future, given the difference in crafting costs for Legacy cards as compared to those from the Standard sets.

It was officially noted previously that Kaladesh and Aether Revolt cards will not be removed from standard (at least for Ixalan's first set).

Now back to the topic at hand! I calculated: I'm going to get every (non-masterpiece) card I want! :)

The part that stood out to me is that the newest set will give more orbs for conversion, this attention to detail is something Hibernum would've overlooked, I'm beyond pleased that Oktagon is looking at these details that, added up over time, will make the game much much better.

On a side note, will there be any holiday bonuses for Free to Play people?

Good to know, thanks @Ohboy and @Drewster. Guess I haven't  been following the official threads closely enough.

I requested reroll 5 timed for getting the same dupe in an elite with mythic and masterpieces and I don't have. Removal of reroll policy for hard earned 400 jewels is bad. This is exactly what I was afraid off. What if I had spent real money after policy removal and got dupes?
@octagon please make elite give non dupe.

I will agree that I'd like to see the mana gems guarantee non-dupe...  Even if it means "don't let someone roll if they have too many cards from this set".

Now wait a minute. I just re-read this.

    • Legacy Sets (all Sets that aren’t in the Standard Rotation) are treated as a Single Set, and will be the cheapest you can craft to complete your sets!

It's the only way they can get people to buy BFZ

What is a "non-craftable set"? Does this mean that legacy dupes give out more orbs than standard ones?

Every new set will be non-craftable for a month after release. That's when you can get the bonus.

@tfg76 - "non-craftable" is any new set in its first month.  Legacy dupes give the same credits but crafting legacy boosters is cheaper.

The system seems good. However the major problem I see are the elite pack. Masterpiece are not craftable and you won't be able to get a reroll from the Elite pack. Then I think the only possible balance would be to have only masterpiece in Elite pack.
yes. There's enough lousy Masterpieces to fill out an Elite Pack.

here's an example Masterpiece Elite Pack right here:
    1. Platinum Angel
    2. Omniscience
    3. Chrome Mox
    4. Aggravated Assault
    5. Avatar of Woe
    6. Sunder
    7. Gauntlet of Power
    8. Champion's Helm
    9. Lightning Greaves
    10. Counterspell

There you go. 4 great cards and 6 meh cards. You can do that at least a couple other times. Make this pack 600 or 800 for people that are only searching for MPs.

    First impressions:

    - Elite packs are getting a lot worse (as mentioned). This can easily be addressed by either removing jewels and elite packs altogether, or by always awarding non-dupes (with some workaround so that people with all the mythics don´t automatically get the masterpiece).

    - Boosters get slightly more valuable. In my estimation, a random card is now worth around 20 orbs, meaning that a booster is worth around 100 orbs. Assuming that you already have most rares, a "rare" prize is worth 100 orbs too (as a dupe).

    - Conventional wisdom has been to hoard boosters until the next set in order to get a chance at exclusives. Now I think the right strategy is to open as many boosters as you can during the first month, amass som orbs, and then redeem them once the set is no longer "the newest". Also, once you´ve collected a lot of the cards, the value of crafted cards being non-dupe goes way up.

    - This doesn´t help the problem that event rare prizes generally devolve into "receiving your dupe", since the conversion rate is so bad. I would prefer if those events instead awarded Orbs. It does sound like that´s the plan, but likely the awarded rate will be horrible (20 orbs for top 5!). I´d be happy if spots 1-5 in an event (platinum) got around 1500 orbs, 6-25 1000, and 26-50 500.

    - The people who have been playing a while will get a nice boost from this release, but the long term effects will be that dupes are still a huge factor. That being said, I think the extreme longevity of HoU is skewing our perceptions of how common dupes are. With a new set, we´ll be rejuvenated anyway.

    - Since dupe mythics are generally harder to get, the "non-dupeness" of mythics is relatively less valuable than for rares. In other words, it´ll be easier to collect all rares in a set, but getting more mythics is relatively unchanged. I wish one could craft for a mythic in a non-dupe-way, or buy elite packs with Orbs.

I think the elite packs/mana jewels will be a problem. With Crafting you have more of the mythics and with a drop rate of 10% for Masterpiece and no support on that, you have to buy way more Elite-Pack to get even one masterpiece. To collect a specific or all masterpiece is nearly impossible.

Last time I had 800 jewels and every myth in the EP... time to get some MP. Toke me 12 attemps and many, many support tickets to get there. Without the tickets I just had 1000 Orbs.

Suggestion: make EP masterpiece only, give other purchase-options for mana jewels, or keep the conversion option.

    I would prefer the last.

I do agree that a solution for the elite packs should be found. Otherwise I like what I see :-D.
One suggestion though: Please let us target missing cards from beginners-, expert- and master decks. You'll find a way to balance the cost. Thanks for this, so far @Brigby
