I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentionally done as a way to make the impossible scenarios doable for those without high level characters.

But I'm expecting the next heroic mode to allow a significantly different set of characters. I think they had some of the more highly owned characters available for this first one so more of the player base could participate.

I suspect you're going to be correct. I think this will be one of the last times C. Storm will be super viable in PvE.

Is C. Storm even relevant to the Dark Reign story? I've been reading through the Dark Avengers issues since this game has piqued my interest, and it's not like the X-Men/Storm are very involved (so far, at least.)

finally made up the 1300 point gap that shikao had over me in the morning (to my shock when i woke up), and passed him for number 1. we're ahead of #3 by 1500 points so throughout the day i have to monitor if he makes up the gap.

edit: pro tip for mediumlevel high level spideys such as myself, go into low level stage with a bunch a boosts, shoot out a bunch of webs with blues, then yellow top off and continue on.

Yeah but I was in 5th last night with 4k points. At a modest rate, one could easily grind 500-750 points an hour, and I don't see many signs of people letting up... The average scores in the top 20 are rising quickly it seems.

I've been away from comics for a while but I was still reading when Dark Reign started and at that point the X-Men weren't too involved (other than Emma Frost) outside of one arc during which Cyclops out maneuvered Osborn. I remember a lot of the specific mutants being deployed in interesting ways (Angel and Moonstar in particular) but don't recall if Storm was even part of the battle, go figure.


Looking at the heroes that weren't used in this first heroic mode we have: Spider-Man, Widow, mStorm, Wolverine, cHawkeye, Captain America and I suppose Magneto and Juggernaut himself could be considered heroes for the next one.

That group alone would be interesting in say Heroic Mode Venom. I would do pretty poorly if those were the only allowable characters but I know others have invested heavily in Wolverine. But I imagine there would be some overlap.

Do you think that 1.5k lead will be enough to discourage him from attempting to pursuit us? On the other hand, I could use a little practice with new UI

How big of a lead do you guys think is necessary to discourage people from climbing up on you? I tried to have a 1.5k lead but that quickly shrunk to only 400.

I'm in first with 6552, 2nd 6041 and climbing, 3rd 4905 and not climbing it seems.

I found if I saw someone below me starting to climb I would start to climb again as well and usually they will stop trying after a couple minutes.

In an MMORPG, this kind of behavior would be considered an exploit. It wouldn't matter how accessible it is. After a bit of practice (I had never used this c.storm strategy in this manner until this battle and only to see how good it was) I was able to reliably use the provided M.Hawkeye to beat Daken, Yelena, and Ragnarok about 3-8 times, without boosts, before having to use a single heal pack. I think I beat that level 20 times or so using that strategy, using about 4 or 5 heal packs (without having to buy any). I stopped after an instance of bad luck. Despite having available green and red matches, the AI will match purple. My guess is that it was planning on using lethal tactics, as it grabbed purple twice in a row.

(incidentally, I notice that when I use ragnarok's godlike ability, I don't ever get lucky with matches as the AI, which seems to always get lucky with matches after using the ability)

Ugh don't even get me started on the ai's miracle matching that happens almost every damn game. It gets to the point to where I have to use boosts in pvp just to keep up with the non-stop 6 chains.

You see this? This is me in tears. I had 7k and I didn't want to grind any more but my first place spot has been recently supplanted and I'm at work. Hoping these guys burn out of fuel by the time I get back home. I really don't want to have to grind for 4 hours straight. 10k points might be on the low side of what it takes to be top 2 considering how many contestants are clawing for the throne in my bracket.

I'm sitting #1 in my bracket with 5763 as of now. Trying to keep 1000-1500 above the number 3 guy. Soon as they start moving, I start up again.
