PVP needs a dual system put in place yesterday. All who are "willing" to put in the time to crank out enough wins or throw down some hp to shield hop to 900-1200 deserve the best progression rewards.3

I only briefly scanned the 7 pages of feedback so far, so I apologize if this was mentioned although I didn't see it. But for me as a 5* player who was really growing to hate PVE, the biggest change with this (outside of finishing more quickly) is that I can actually now use my entire roster. With enemies topping out at level 330, my UNboosted 4* toons will now get use. I can experiment with different teams and use ALL 160 (or whatever it is) toons in any sub against any node. Currently I HAVE to use my 3-4 highest 5* and occasionally the boosted 4* will work if it's someone who hits hard. Sooo boring.
So aces, D3! Not only a quality of life improvement in terms of time committed to being competitive, but if I don't want to be competitive and actually have fun with the game, I can use anyone on my roster now.12 -
I just wanted to thank you guys so much! I love the recent changes that look like you guys are putting a lot of care into the game. So much so that I bought VIP for the first time ever this month.
I know there is still plenty that needs to be done to make the game closer to perfect, but I'm happy so far!2 -

the cognitive dissonance:
-I don't have that problem, so your point is invalid/ whatevs I don't care
-inflation: some(less than 1%) people MAY get less 4* covers because they MIGHT be pushed out by higher level rosters for event placement= 4* progress will be stalled
-d3 did something= probably a nerf see also: "yeah but what about...."
-bracket sniping must be stopped! so lock in the people that need to switch to a lower bracket into fighting level 300's with an undercovered 4, rather than discuss qualifying thresholds
-5 * rosters only have them because they spend a bazmilion dollars
-i read the first few posts, now hear my opinion!
the troof:
4 star progress is stalled by dilution in the release schedule more than anything, then HT odds, then vault odds
Placement is way more about ego than gains
spending is a legitimate way to progress, don't hate
grinding is a legitimate way to score, don't hate
whining is a legitimate forum activity, don't hate
If you love basketball don't get mad that steph curry spends 10hrs a day on his shot with all the techno gadgets and staff to help him, Don't blame the young kid from the 'burbs who is rocking this years Air Hardens when your playing with three year old new balance, Likewise if the retired pros want to come to the park and play on the other side of the court and they get three games in for your one and their playing horse while your still scrambling for that 10th point, remember the court is for everyone not just your experience, not just for your personal play style. If you can't hang at the court you want because they are all playing for money and use ringers, there are other courts out there where you can still have fun doing the things you love, sure the bleachers are smaller , there are cracks on the court and you have to walk farther to the water fountain or whatever the analogy is for scl 6, but you still have your peers and your skills and there is reward in playing and personally getting better so enjoy your game. there are some real problems out there, like iso crunch, web tile synergy and covers 7,8,9 for your 0/5/5 if you want to be irate about something.8 -

Re: jgomes32's comment, it's possible that by "2 hours a day" they meant 1 hour for the first 4 clears, and a second hour 23-hours later for the remaining 3+ clears.0 -

The "4* community" should be busy champing their 4*s, so they experience an increase in 4* champ levels.
4* covers from PVE placement is one of the most anemic sources of 4*s in the game. Even in the highest 2 SCLs, available to only 1% of all players in each bracket.
Don't pretend the accessibility of those very particular rewards affects the masses. It affects a miniscule minority.
Believe me, I would love to champ more 4*s so I can increase my 4* champ levels. One helpful way I (and a few others in this thread) are doing that is through placement rewards.
I don't think anyone is making the argument that T10 or T5 placement is some kind of 4* cover bonanza for everyone at that tier, so I don't know where you're getting that strawman from.
I happen to be hoarding CP and LTs right now. My chief source of 4* covers are, in order: 1) PvE placement rewards 2) PvP progression, although I'm still not too sure how much I can rely on this; last season was the first where I hit 900 in almost every event, and some were definitely much harder than others 3) PvE progression 4) Heroic and Event tokens 5) SHIELD Simulator progression.
Yes, I fully understand that I'm temporarily gimping my process because I'm not pulling my LTs or CP. Why am I hoarding? Why, to get more 5*s. I've often seen people comment that the best way of doing that is to save up roughly 300 Latest pulls, which should get you 3 fully (or at least decently) covered 5*s. The only other way is pulling Classics and hoping RNG and Bonus Heroes are kind to you. We all know 5* acquisition is pretty much a joke, but with this change in order to remain competitive it seems to me that getting good 5*s is now more important than ever. If anyone has a better way of going about getting 5*s, I'm all ears, btw.aesthetocyst said:
Again, those 4* placement rewards are only being given to 1% of players in PVE, in SCL 7 & 8, even fewer in SCL 6 (IIRC, not able to check ATM). Ascribing any impact to "4* players* as a whole is a huge stretch. The vast majority aren't in contention for them now, won't be in the future.
The complaint about the PVP test was the removal of a progression reward—available to all who are willing / able to go for it!—to the limited ranks of the placement rewards, which effectively limited its availability to 2% of PVP players in those SCLs, regardless of how many were willing / able to pursue it.
Another issue I failed to make more clear though is I'm not just specifically talking about overall placement rewards, but also daily sub rewards, which I'm assuming aren't changing. That's anywhere from 5 to 3 CP per sub. Maybe not a lot, but it adds up quickly. In some cases, it could even push people out of T50 each sub, and there goes 100 HP each day. So yes, I will maintain that this has the potential to have a decent impact on some players in the 4* tier.
Maybe we can agree that either change affects a very small percentage of very dedicated players, for different reasons, and that either change is frustrating for both sets of players?aesthetocyst said:Brigby said:Update: Corrected table data for placement Rank 1 of SCL 8; it awards 3 4-Star covers, not 4. Apologies for the confusion.
Well, that's even less for the self-appointed "4* community" reps to be concerned about, despite all of them claiming to finish tops in every PvE for years on end
Again, not really the argument anyone was making, but if that's what you want to think, then go for it.aesthetocyst said:broll said:
'available to all who are willing'...
It's funny, in May the devs announce that they're adding progression rewards to PvE, but adding one immediate 5th clear in order to hit progression. Some didn't mind the change, but apparently for some players the devs insulted their mothers and then kicked their dog to death, judging by the reaction we saw. Why? Because for some people, it was less rewards for the same amount of work. Or more work for more rewards.
Then a few weeks ago, they run one test in one off season PvP event that puts one progression reward into T10 and makes everything else win-based, with some rewards placed at a potentially questionable number of wins. Again, some people preferred the change, but others were upset. Why? Again, for them, it was more work for the same amount of rewards, or even less rewards for more work. Or less rewards for the same amount of work.
Most people seemed to acknowledge the grievances in both cases, but now we have some players saying this change to scaling in PvE means they'll essentially get less rewards for the same amount of work and it's met with indifference at best and criticism and accusations of whining at worst.
Anyway, I've spent enough time and said what I've needed to say. Again, hopefully it's not as bad as I'm expecting, or that I can find a way around no longer getting placement rewards.9 -
Any time there is a change the side that likes the change will always accuse the other side of whining and not understanding how awesome the change really is, however they don't care they just want the change without modification. Right now SCL scaling boosts a certain group unreasonably and damages another group. No matter the size of those groups or how morally superior the group that won believes itself to be, the change must be altered to bring balance. You can't run a business by pleasing one group. Change will come eventually.2

I speak as someone who is still building 4*s. I don't have a good enough roster to earn 4*s on PVP nor I do have the power necessary to score within the first 10 of PVE to earn 4*s. So I basically have to rely on progression rewards for 4*s and wait for PVP to award 4*s for wins instead of score.
All the whining comes from people who is strong enough to chomp down the 4*s and leave the weak to remain weak. So yeah I am very much looking forward to both Scaling tied to SCL and PVP rewards based on wins. I have no love lost for the mighty who whine.

It depends. They may well have SCL9 around the corner, which would make the change they have made understandable. The gulf between the scaling from SCL7 & 8 was far too big under the previous test. By shrinking the gap down, it suggests to me they have SCL9 in the pipeline that will include 400+ scaling. If that is the case, then this has been done perfectly.1

sh81 saidPart 2 is this, while its great 5*s can play PVE, how BORING IS THAT?! Seriously, Ive made the comparison to DDQ but I think its valid. I play DDQ in about 10 minutes daily, its a procession, its not interesting, and I do it only for the rewards. That is what PVE will be to 5*s now.3
