I go for the goons first, starting with the sniper feeding Green. Between Spider-Man (stunning only to stop an attack power to conserve blue AP) and OBW to reduce green, that gives me enough breathing room to get my attacks going. But the board being lucky is also a key factor.

My strategy is simple: do other missions instead icon_e_wink.gif
  • I take on Devil Dino himself first (mine is still at about L100). Kill him while denying green, letting Rags or Cap eat the eventual bite.
After Dino is gone the match is basically over, I take out the sniper second and then the killer.

My comp is Rags/OBW/LazyCap. Cap is L 101, OBW 85 and Rags 127(buffed)

I tried three different teams this morning:

Hulk, LT, Rags - Used Hulk/Rags to absorb all the damage and used Thor to deal damage.
Result: Won with only LT barely alive

Spiderman, Rags, GSBW - Stunlock + Sniper Rifle. Slow, but effective.
    Result: Won

Hood, Rags, Lazy Cap - Hood suppresses AP generation and you collect all the Red/Blue.
Result: Lost. Lazy Cap took a sniper/dino bite combo and died. Leaving me with almost no offense.

Having a high level rags to tank most colors and soak up damage helps a lot, plus his red hits pretty hard (I'm getting 1500 for 6 AP). Without one, it's going to be doubly difficult, because you've got a wasted roster spot since he's essential, plus you'll be taking a lot of damage.

Has anyone tried using Hulk and/or CStorm? I could see the combination of reactive damage doing a lot of good.
  • I might try Spidey and Venom next time. I beat it using Patch and Spidey but Dino has so much health. One devour from Venom seems much simpler.

My scaling isn't too bad, so I'm not sure how many level 200 bites it takes to get to the center of a Ragnarok-pop, but my strategy on that node is to take advantage of Rags tanking green and red over Punpun, hoard greens, reds, and environment tiles, and use judgement and retribution liberally, going all-out on Devil Dino from the get-go

    Thanks for sharing guys.

I did it the hard way - Rags, MnMag and CStorm with AP boosts for blue/purple. Do one match-3 for purple and start stunning Devil Dino. I got a good board and managed to stun Dino first time trying in the hard node, but the easy node was where I retreated twice before setting on this combo. Definitely gonna play the other 2 nodes twice for tomorrow's refresh. Skipping this headache until last to see my luck. icon_e_smile.gif

I have used CStorm and MNMags + blue AP boosters on my "easy" Dino who was at ~86. It worked well enough since I got lucky with a blue & purple board that allowed me to stun him quickly before he managed to get more than one bite in and then the rest wasn't too bad. My rags has only one cover, so the best I can do with him is to put him in front for a bite, at this level he can survive two. The damage from Storm's yellow was negligible - she isn't boosted and only has 2670 HP - not enough to survive a bite or a sniper and boosted Rags has too much life for the increased damage at 50% HP loss to hit reliably.

For the hard (~106) I used OBW and Ares + AP boosters. Ares took two bites, because in that constellation my useless Rags doesn't tank anything. Finally whittled him down though, and then downed him with one massive onslaught from all the green I got through reckon.

My dinos are just doable for my 2* team though. I can't image lvl 200 dinos...

A 170 Dino vs a 130 Rags takes precisely 2 bites. It is quite painful, especially with the goon feeding green to Dino.

I would personally like to thank buffed Ragnarok for being an incredibly effective punching bag. We couldn't have defeated the likes of Patch and Loki, and Devil Dino and goons without his ridiculously high HP and the ability to tank red and green.

In 13 hours you will go back to the bottom of the toy chest. Only to be intermittently used during the ensuing LR's. But for a few days, you and your severely nerfed abilities came in handy.

I just lost all of my health packs simply trying to beat even one normal Simulator node, and I'm using a fully leveled 2-star roster with a fully leveled Punisher.

The best part? The enemies are in the 80s - yet one little cascade makes them unbeatable. Lazycap fires off protect tiles and I'm literally doing 1 damage even with a character who's almost twice the level he is, while Black Widow gets to use Anti-Grav/Aggressive Recon in the meantime. Devil Dinosaur gets fed green AP every turn and bites me every other one. Dormammu's Aid combined with that stupid goon's ability to steal green AP means Thor's using Call the Storm every few turns. Spidey gets fed yellow AP by the Lieutenant and fires off Web Bandages so often that I literally cannot do any lasting damage to the entire team, never mind the stun lock potential.

You simply can't do jack **** when the board's not arranged in your favor, either (e.g. enemy countdown tiles appearing in corners, which they almost always seem to do, or tiles are arranged in a way that Dormammu's Aid works, yet you can't match any to remove them), and while I know there's some level of luck involved, I shouldn't be completely shut down multiple times when my roster is on a higher level than the freakin' AI.

I hope they don't think I'm going to drop any money into this game for something as ridiculous as health packs, especially after all of the stealth nerfs they've been making (removing first time completion rewards, reducing the daily alliance reward, etc.), because I sure as hell am not. I can't wait for this event to be over - which is funny, too, because I was like, "Great, the simulator, I loved this event last time!" when I first saw it announced.
  • Zounds! I've stumbled into a bracket with Sir Catsington - my furriest foe.

And that was the only interesting thing that happened during this PVE. Once a font of ISO and joy, the Simulator well has run dry. Or they drained it after the devs took a leak in it.
  • I just used Spiderman on Devil Dino since he's the only person who can move the board. Had a flawless win once and took 8000 damage the next time due to a lack of blue which forced me eat quite a few CDs while keeping Devil Dino stunned. Probably should boost 3 blue to be safe when pressed for time.

Hulk + Daken + Storm is pretty good against Patch + Loki + Doombot. Save all your moves after Berserker Rage hits the board. If Hulk survives Berserker Rage, you'll usually win straight up, and if not, Storm should be able to get enough attacks to kill the other team thanks to Patch's strike tiles. Use Daken to place strike tiles if they have enough for Trickery to get rid of Trickery before Berserker Rage, otherwise you'd be totally dead on the turn they used Berserker Rage AND Trickery.

    Is the Simulator over yet?...please?

I seem to remember really loving this event last time around. Such a shame.
  • Dino fight isn't hard with spiderman/mnmags/rag, just a tad slow and quite frankly not fun (.see boring)

If you go in with 3 blue/pink and match pink twice you've basically won - granted you'll need like 10 minutes to do them at around lvl 200

Don't like it because it's a challenge..? Personally, I like this Sim just as much as the last one. This sim just seems to be a bit more challenging. It has harder character combos to fight. I'm not sure why people seem to want a cake-walk for every event, but I welcome the challenge this event is presenting.

I love challenge. Why would you assume it's something related to that? The Sim stopped being a challenge, it's more frustration inducing at this point due to the same thing over and over, scaling issues, and simply no longer having much fun value.

I am still playing it, just will be glad when this one is over.

So are you saying that the challenge in front of the Devs is figuring out when something goes from challenging to frustrating
  • I find the overall difficulty of this event to be pretty high but there are also less cheesy combinations like 'Thor + 2 green AP generators". There are less cakewalks but there are also less 'don't even bother trying without Spiderman/Magneto' nodes.
