    Hrmmm...

Before the Tower event ended, I was in around 136,000th place in the Simulator. Came home to see that I am in 5,000/5,000th place in a bracket with all of the top players in the game.

Nice, they segregated the veterans away from the rest of the crowd in the Season event as well now... /facepalm
Does it really matter? There are no rewards for placement, just for progression, in Simulator.

For Season 1? No. As you mention, there are no personal placement rewards for the event.

However, Season 2 will surely start as soon as Season 1 ends in 5 days. The precedent here is what matters. Dollars to donuts, this change was made in preparation for Season 2. If and when Season 2 does offer a high-value personal placement prize (let's say Nick Fury Yellow), then this change makes ALL the difference.

For those wanting a break from the action, taking a break even for a single event will surely mean forfeiting the 4**** cover, when placed in a bracket of 5,000 of the top players in the game.

I greatly look forward to achieving all of the progression targets for the season, and still end up in 1000th place out of 5000 top players because I'm not grinding 1300 in every single 2.5 day Versus tourney. icon_rolleyes.gif
  • Well the highest I can see is reckless at 14475 and I'm at 10000 myself and only in 16th. No way I'm probably even getting top 10
Slobofix and Dark Silence are both higher than me. They have each passed 15000, but they both have 1400 more points than I do in SHIELD simulator. So it's hard to tell at this moment.

    don't think I haven't noticed that, lol.

I was just telling someone that yesterday... don't be surprised if reckless jumps ahead for first in this one. Figured you still had plenty of room in SHIELD sim
I do and moved up some. I'm now at 1723 and crossed 15000 total. However, Beee is actually ahead of all of us. He has 15509 currently.

Thankfully Beee isn't in my S1 bracket!
  • In my new bracket the top score is about 2700 and 8' of the top 10 are shielded. I have no idea if they were shielded before the break into smaller brackets, but I wonder if this is their devious way of making more people spend HP on shielding in order to hold their "top" spots.

Yup, so here are the real questions:
    a) what else does this affect?
    b) does this affect who you're paired against in the sim and/or pvp events?
    c) does this affect tanking? (if they do it based off player rank and they're shifting their metric yet again, then probably - being x out 5000 instead of x out of full spectrum basically means you can no longer tank)
    d) what affect more generally will sim rankings, and season 1 overall have affect on season 2 bracketing? The direction things are going really doesn't look good for any but the most hardcore players out there.
  • Shield sim is bracketed hmmm

Wait, what? They bracketed the training 4 days before the end?
    What madness is this?

I will put money on it that the reason is what Bughunt highlighted

I'd guess it's a technical issue. When you try to see the score on events with large brackets/unbracketed events you get a noticeable server delay, and they were probably preempting lots of people checking scores in S.H.I.E.L.D training in the last couple of days (or were starting to experience this already) which might cause the leader board server to fall over.
  • hhmm, is that something new ? Brackets introduced ? Since when ?

    It matters for two reasons:

The first is that this event was an honest, full-game arena, true PVP to the full extent that the current game design allows. Seeing how far you got in this was going to be the truest measurement possible of where you stood in the player rankings.
I'm sorry but I actually laughed out loud at this nonsense icon_e_biggrin.gif
It did not matter in the slightest and what it actually did show was who wants to spend the most on a F2P (P2W? icon_e_biggrin.gif) game... it could be an arena, had shields been disallowed.

Anyway - there are no rewards for placement so who really gives a rat's ****...

Same thing happened to me, was in top 200 with ARES at the top of my bracket, come out of a loki event match then suddenly i'm at....5th place? top person has 2700, a couple hundred ahead of everyone....i'm okay with this, i was happy to be in top 200, to be top 5 is awesome!

You know there's no placement rewards, only progression, right?
So Top 5 gets you the same nothing as Top 200.

I'm aware of that, still....top 5 *struts proudly*
I'm at 2200 so I'm still a ways off on any of the good rewards I actually want(spidey!)

The only 'real' effect is being unable to see when the overall leaders unshield and are vulnerable.

So, assuming that Heavy Metal will be the last PVP of the season, and will end Saturday morning CET... that leaves us with two full days of only Shield Training available?
Boy what a great way to close out a fantastic season, eh? Nothing at stake but progression rewards.
    Yeah, a fitting ending icon_e_wink.gif

We could still get an overlapping tournament, we already had a couple of those this season... yay icon_cry.gif

Seriously I honestly hope they give us a month-long hiatus before starting next season.

Will Heavy Metal be the last PVP of season 1? I kinda hope not, I need another 1000 points for the Heroic 10-pack. I can bank on 500 or so from Heavy Metal but otherwise it's going to be diminishing returns in the Simulator - plus once there's no other PVP event to keep people occupied, my Sim points total is going to get absolutely slaughtered.

Squeeze in another PVP in those last two days, devs - pretty please?
  • There will be the usual starts-Friday-ends-sunday tournament like we have literally every week, I'm sure. There is a fixed schedule that - barring a technical problem - has literally never varied, at all, for months.

Yup. There is exactly enough room for 1 more tourney, given the one at the back end of the week always starts 12 hours before the mid-week one ends.

OK I guess it was wishful thinking to be done with the grind already icon_e_biggrin.gif
