(I like that as of this time stamp you are in postition #7 ahead of vetheran in #8 by 1 pt!) icon_lol.gif It's weird that it works out that way, but still a difference of only 1 point ?!

LOL I totally didnt notice this.

Well the highest I can see is reckless at 14475 and I'm at 10000 myself and only in 16th. No way I'm probably even getting top 10
Slobofix and Dark Silence are both higher than me. They have each passed 15000, but they both have 1400 more points than I do in SHIELD simulator. So it's hard to tell at this moment.

Well you have infinitely better roster than I do, because I am still transitioning into 3* land, so I wouldn't worry if I were you icon_e_smile.gif

    don't think I haven't noticed that, lol.

I was just telling someone that yesterday... don't be surprised if reckless jumps ahead for first in this one. Figured you still had plenty of room in SHIELD sim
  • ...um.

WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED TO THIS EVENT?

Last night I'd grinded up to about 900 points, was... uh, 15000th-ish? I forget the exact ranking but certainly 5 digits. I am now shown as #274, the leaders are in the 2100 point range, and #4 doesn't have anything better than a maxed 2*.

    WHAT. THE. ****.

It's a little late to be splitting into separate brackets! And what's the point of a SHIELD training event if not everyone is in it?

PVP can only work if there are rules, and I don't think there are any rules left in the PVP system. At least none that I trust to be the same in five days. Really contemplating walking away from the game right now. Is Hearthstone out yet? Blizzard at least puts out comprehensive patch notes.

Where did slobofix go? Don't see em in my rankings
  • LOL I wonder if a server hiccup killed everyone's shields. This doesn't make any sense. Maybe they did split the brackets? I see Star Boy shielded in 3rd with 2335 at the moment. Doesn't even have a 141. I'm also at 642nd with 1020 thats not right.
  • they split it into brackets for some reason. my #1 is A.R.E.S wit 2.9k and a bunch of 2.3k and under people.
  • It will stop people from reporting players sitting at the top of the bracket I guess because only so many people see them, and maybe sniping people to switch alliances? I dunno.

Its probably to make the average joe feel better and push harder. Why not just make it a tourney then, thats almost what it is.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one very puzzled by the split and breakdown in the SHIELD Training. I was very confused when my rank went from somewhere in the 3900s to 46. icon_razz.gif

And honestly, unless someone comes in and says just why this happened, I'm assuming it was done with the sole purpose of keeping people from getting the higher level progress rewards in this and Season 1. That seems really sketchy.

I'd guess it's a technical issue. When you try to see the score on events with large brackets/unbracketed events you get a noticeable server delay, and they were probably preempting lots of people checking scores in S.H.I.E.L.D training in the last couple of days (or were starting to experience this already) which might cause the leader board server to fall over.

Could be all sorts of reasons:
    • Make people feel better about their spot.
    • Obscure some of the top level scores, so that there's a little bit more uncertainty going into the final stretch. (This doesn't really affect very many people, though...just the top 10.)
    • Maybe a technical reason as bughunt mentioned.
    • Obscure the total number of players playing MPQ. They haven't been terribly shy about it in the past, but the number of (active) users is probably supposed to be semi-secret.
    • The reason I personally believe in the most - it lessens the effect of shield hopping at the very tippity top. We saw in the last couple of Elites that all it takes is two people to be up really late at night and shield hop against each other to pull completely away from the pack. With the different brackets, it's going to be WAY harder to figure out when the other top score people are unshielded. In the same fashion, this will also prevent player sniping from below.
  • ok so i know tomorrows new event will help me reach 5000 for my ten pack

    I currently have 4480 points!
  • Games like to hide the number of active users because nothing good can come from letting players know about it. If it went down everyone's going to cry about how the game is doomed and the end is near. If it went up, well, there's nothing stopping the game developer from sharing this with everyone (and they usually do).

That said people usually still figure these things out anyway so it's kind of futile. Although game developers are quite ingenious at coming with new way to lie/hide about active players, players are generally equally resourceful at figuring this stuff out.
  • Hrmmm...

Before the Tower event ended, I was in around 136,000th place in the Simulator. Came home to see that I am in 5,000/5,000th place in a bracket with all of the top players in the game.

Nice, they segregated the veterans away from the rest of the crowd in the Season event as well now... /facepalm
  • Right now, I have 4247 points. I've got another 14? Hours to get as many more points as I can in God of Lies, then it comes down to the Iron Man event and whatever more Shield Training I can do to try to reach the 10 Pack.

If anyone happens to see me in their brackets for any of the Season events, please just skip. icon_razz.gif

Does it really matter? There are no rewards for placement, just for progression, in Simulator.

And I'm not in the same bracket at Slobo, Jimbojim, etc. But there are names I recognize in the leaderboard. The leader is A.R.E.S. tc5434, Fyrol, and ISO-8 your Mom are all in the top-10.

I do and moved up some. I'm now at 1723 and crossed 15000 total. However, Beee is actually ahead of all of us. He has 15509 currently.

    It matters for two reasons:

The first is that this event was an honest, full-game arena, true PVP to the full extent that the current game design allows. Seeing how far you got in this was going to be the truest measurement possible of where you stood in the player rankings. With the recent clusterfuck which is the current bracketing rules, it was the last place for real PVP. And now that is simply gone.

The second, slightly more meta thing is that YET AGAIN, D3 has completely rewritten the rules and structure of the event while it is in process. And said NOTHING about the details and motivations before or after. Just someone resets the server on their side and we're suddenly playing a different game. The only possible positive thing to say about it is that under the ToS they have every right to do so.

Well, I have every right to not spend any more money here, and to change my review on Steam to a highly negative discussion of just how messed up this dev team is. When there are no rules, it's really not a game anymore.

I got in this ARES bracket, formerly was with jimbojim.
