Looking at the content of the packs, 5 of 8 are mythics...thats VERY high odds of not getting a masterpiece.

How about making 3 kinds of elite packs:
20 mana jewels for a rare pack
100 mana jewels for a mythic pack
200 mana jewels for a masterpiece pack

this way you at least get the same level of card you save up for.

Even if they want to charge the same 400 for a Masterpiece pack it should ONLY contain the Masterpieces and then have a 250-300 Jewel for the Mythic/Masterpiece and then 200 for the Mythic only pack. Just based on the random Mythic packs, they've already tried, it wouldn't surprise me that some people might give up on getting a Masterpiece if a Mythic they already have is in the same pack. icon_e_confused.gif

You can sort of get Mana Jewels for $$$. The bundles in store now give ~150 jewels for $54.99 CAD. At that rate, you need to spend $150 to even buy a mythic pack of 1 card.

They really need to figure out how much they value a mythic, and make the numbers work better. I mean, Baral was $35 CAD (with extras), and the Mythic packs were 600 Crystals, which valuates a mythic at around $30 - 35 CAD. Now it's... $150.

It is cheaper to just play paper Magic at this point...

    Edit: formatting.

Wait, where do you live? I'm in Toronto. Baral cost me $40.00 CAD thanks to their new "standard" conversion rates (they use the word "standard" as a euphemism for "usurious"). You can't just use the current exchange rate because they charge their own double-spread on top of it.

The new Exquisite Archangel comes with 160 mana gems which I didn't notice at first (was not interested until I noticed the gems). Then I realized that they jacked up the price for that "package" to 53.99 CAD.

The prices just keep going up and up and up. Basic supply and demand economics tells us that it is getting harder and harder to get new, non-dupe mythics. Fine, I suppose, but I'd like to say one thing: I have enough money to buy whatever I want, but even I'm feeling priced out right now. Who are they catering to?

I had such hopes for this update. I was really looking forward to all the new events. But in the end, we are getting less and less while it's being disguised as more and more. The issue is the devs are treating us like cattle, but we can see through it all. Just one of the examples: slog your way through many many many fights and lots of entry fees for what? A 3/8 chance of getting a masterpiece card? Just think about how utterly devastated you would feel at getting what for higher level players is statistically more likely to be a dupe KLD mythic. What a slap in the face. To put it into perspective, it would make the old grinding 600 gold and ending uo getting a BB with nothing but a single guaranteed dupe almost feel good. Why would anyone do that?

There are so so many other ways in which this update has **** us that I can't even bring myself to write them all down again, having expended enough of my energy doing so elsewhere.

At this point, the devs have lost a lot of my confidence. I hope that they radically alter the noxious changes they've brought about, which, if even this one thread is anything to go by, are alienating more players than ever before.

Boycotting all spending also. Usually drop 100 a week. They better get used to 0.

Calm down, guys. You want masterpiece cards, you can just simply but it! From the game you can get 100 Mana Jewels for free. Pay $80 for time limited special offers you will get 310 Mana Jewels, Ok, now you have enough to claim a guaranteed mythic card, though not masterpiece guaranteed.
In a word, the game is encouraging you to buy in-app things to get What you want, and lowering the chance to get it freely(highest tier can obtain 15 Mana Jewels in maximum in One event, so you have to play at least 27 events). I don't think I will play new event until it improves.

Still no new story mode content with this last update
I think I'll skip the new boring PVP event that you want me to pay for and make harder and harder to get the pittance of rewards, it won't feel nice when you spend crystals to play the event and get beaten causing you to miss out on some of the unobtainium

I'm silver tier and will definetly not play the new event. Why? There simply is not a single reason to do so. I got better ways to waste my crystals.
The majority of mtgpq players - those that are not using forums or care too much about the games they play - will also quickly notice that the new events are nothing but a rip off.
Also, Baral will be the last time I spent real money on this game. I'm fed up with this.

I will be playing it. Because we got free crystals and why not? I'm curious. If it's awful, I just won't play it again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I will not, however, put down my pitchfork until these awful card packs are fixed and event rewards are back to what they were.

Yes. It is a mistake. A huge one.

Where is the value to us? We are the customers, whether we are whales or F2P.
I don't see the value to us.
It is clear to me that the developers are not prioritising the 'wishes' of the players and the community.
We have given feedback, we have pointed out issues, we have provided suggestions for improvements.
We have also paid to support the game and some of us have paid dearly, to the point that it does not seem worthwhile at all.
Now, we are asked to pay to experience new content/event.

I understand "Masterpiece" rarity are supposed to be very rare.
But for me to acquire the mana jewels, I have to pay to get a shot at it? What if I lose out those events and didn't get the mana jewels? I think it's fair to make acquiring mana jewel challenging but the entry fee should be removed.

I am not going to join any of those events if they demand mana crystals from me.
Why should I? If Hibernum wants us to experience new content, then remove the barrier to entry.
Otherwise, don't call it new content.

I will be playing, because I totally forgot that this event is crystals-for-entry, and living in Pl, I joined just after waking up, meaning no coffee and no thinking what am I tapping, just like everyday 'daily reward, join events, free booster'...
    ...BUT...
...this TotP will be the first and last I will play, unless there is entry and/or rewards check&balance made - The investment is not comparable to the rewards, sorry... I'm used to waiting and gathering resources, but the level of it required for the masterpiece packs is ridiculous icon_e_sad.gif
I am considering quitting, but my voice is not as strong as some of the others', as I am a f2p player...

Yeah we got free crystals but this is just another distraction. I would like to play the event. It's got to be fun right? No secondary objectives, pure progression and an increasing challenge. But I'm not sure I want to give them the satisfaction of being able to say "see this event isn't bad just look at all the people playing".

It doesn't matter if you are a f2p player or a whale, your voice and you opinion matter just the same. If you quit you have no voice.

It don't think they'll have that satisfaction because they already know we're not happy. I also don't think their initial game plan was to give us those 100 crystals in the first place.

We came together as a community and spoke loud enough that they couldn't ignore us. I actually trust our mods when they say, "go ahead and play the event and give us feedback." It makes a lot more sense to me than giving a one-star review to a restaurant you've never eaten at.

Now that I've spent those crystals and played the event I can honestly say... probably won't do it again. XP

I haven't even played the game since the update. No QB, no event, not even story mode.
I know others are boycotting these events but I'm not the type to boycott anything. That being said I can't see myself giving up my crystals to play in events that don't give me the chance to earn them back.
I may play this one time because they gave me the crystals to do so and because Brigby asked for us to give it a chance and then give feedback.
The feedback they got pre event was mostly not about the enjoyment of playing the event so I don't think playing it through will change the outcry from the community.

I didn't buy Baral, so I didn't fully pay attention whether it was $34.99 or $39.99. You're probably right that it was $39.99.
  • Has anyone seen that they are now offering an Elite Pack or some nonsense that features 550 mana gems and 2000 crystals? So now we've completely departed from their claimed idea that masterpiece cards were supposed to be difficult to get, that they're not supposed to change the meta game.

Nope, just making it pay to play. And not in a positive or constructive way. They decided to introduce new barriers to entry for everything, reduce the chances of getting rewards without spending money, and charge more money for easy progression.

The balance was off before, but now it is unbearable. You better make sure it swings far back the other direction, farther than before this update.

I think they could fix every issue here by giving a single iso8.png per win in QB. 400 wins isn't unreasonable for a chance at a masterpiece. They won't have to make the masterpiece packs masterpiece only, they can leave the new event as is (faster mining for those willing to pay), they can leave the gem packs price the same, it would all be fine.

I vote for iso8.png mining in QB. (Or a weekly unlimited node recharge, iso8.png per win event).

I've played the event because I have spent the cristals before knowing the rewards were so ridiculous.

I can tell you that in this way I WILL NOT spend more cristals on it. If you loose just one of the turns you don't even get back the cristals you spent and with the rage and supercharge only for the opponent it is easy to fail.

An event that I will not play again if continues like it is now.

Ive been rail roaded in this event and I haven't even played bad. Lost 3 so far.
    NEVER AGAIN.

Really like this idea....Really really do, but they won't do it as it will dilute the $99.99 garbage they just put in the main menu to put a hole in their comments on the update about doing events and things to ACHIEVE the Jewels....

Maybe if they dont do it in QB on wincon, maybe a random generated second objective instead in QB is added that changes each battle, so the aim of QB isnt all smash n grab.

Very much like this idea. My problem isn't so much the new event. I like the idea of the event very much, but the rewards aren't worth it to me. I just won't play in it, and I'll do QB and free events instead. The real problem for me is the change to the packs in the vault, the fact that I cannot (currently) get jewels without paying to play in these events for months, and then as it stands I would never spend jewels on the masterpiece pack because the probability of a non-masterpiece card and ensuing buyer's remorse is way too high (also, where they value mythics just isn't where I value mythics in terms of price. This is not a TCG where I can trade or sell my mythics for money, so why would I value a mythic at $40-$50? $10 is about where I would value any mythic, but that's personal). Giving out a jewel per QB win would certainly solve a lot of the problems I have with this update, but the changes to packs in the vault need to be addressed immediately.

Also, can you start offering legitimately appealing things in the vault in the $5-$12 price range? dropping 30-40-50-100 is just unconscionable for me. But small transactions for things I want will certainly hook me every time.
