I personally like the patch buff, but it's too much. I just let patch do every match and got almost up to 1k. Shielded at the 8 hour mark after falling to 930. Started to take hits fast when I pulled away from the pack. All the other people who can win every game without taking damage like me. Buff needs to be 40%

I found that the buffs to A. Wolvie and Path were both pretty absurd. It turned the event into a slugfest to see who had a team that could just absorb all that damage. Bad cascades without any strike tiles on the board at all could just drop 3000+ damage on you without much effort.

Unfortunately my Patch didn't have enough covers to let me just romp all over everyone, but after this I'm willing to convert. Playing this event on just one node was kind of awkward.

Seeing this thread makes me realize how lucky I am to be in this weak bracket. I'm currently sitting at number 1 shielded with 750 or so points. I figured that'd get me top 10 so I wouldn't have to worry, but the current top 10 is all shielded as well.

I know most of you forumgoers are either in casual 5-10 man alliances or in the 20-men super-alliances (at least that's how it seems from posts), but does anyone happen to know the alliance point totals near the top 100 mark? My 12-man alliance is around #150 atm with some of us not entering yet, so just wondering if it's worth prodding them to push for top 100. Anyone know, or is close enough to give me a good idea? Thanks!

Indeed, 1, 2, and 3 in my bracket are shielded at 1096, 1092 and 915 respectively.
I just shielded in 4th place on 871, just clear of 5th at 822.
The rest of the top 10 are shielded at high 600s to low 700s, but that's with a whole lot of time left to go.
Hopefully I can hold on to a top 10 spot, if not top 5, but seriously with only 500 ISO difference between placing top 5 vs top 10, it hardly matters.

I predict the closing hours of this event to be both bloody and brutal.

STEP BY STEP ON MY "THE BEST THERE IS" EVENT

*Tanked like a boss as usual, maybe 60 games give or take
*Got 3 easy nodes lined up for my 2* max Wolvie, 141 Punisher and max OBW
*First game nets me 27 points and puts me 1st. "Wow that never happened before,nice".
*Wow i tanked too much, nobody above level 50, good, but only giving me 15 points or less.
*Skipped a few nodes to find more worthwhile opponents.
*Now at 350 and facing guys for 35 points. Much better.
*Damn it, lost OBW in a game cause i got greedy trying to save 27 blue when i could have healed my entire team TWICE.
*Used 2 Healthpacks.
*Now up to 700 points and facing level 141's. This is getting scary. Need to shield.
*"Hey, there's a guy from Retribution" Yep really time to shield.
*"****!!! There's Jozier and Clintman. I am in way over my head. I'm too high up.

The buff to Patch is no different than the LR villians. However, at level 281 he'll probably have 4 colors to himself, which leads to some really ridiculous numbers on The Best There Is. In fact, I haven't had anybody not die from The Best There Is in this tournament so far, not even another level 281 Patch.

I figured it up the first day. The base damage on a four-color Best There Is at lvl 281 with 5 covers in red is ~11,800, assuming equal distribution of colors. Just enough to kill another level 281 Patch (whom I unfortunately did not come across once before I shielded at 900).

Got to 903 with A.Wolv at level 73... First is a guy named SongCn from Duck them all alliance with 1009 points... as far as I could see he just sat there unshielded for hours without being attacked at all :<

Seems like quite a few competitive brackets this tournament. We wound up with two members in one bracket and three in another, and at least one of those has three other players from high-scoring alliances.

It's gotta be chance, right? I can't imagine that the game could have added an algorithm somehow to group more competitive players.

I'm shielded in fifth with 700 - I was in first when I shielded a couple of hours ago. I got an easier bracket than some, it seems. Hoping to stay top 10; if I don't, I'm going to become a complete cheapskate with shields because tinykittying over of solo players that they're doing, combined with the ridiculous character rollout rate, means my HP is rapidly declining. I'm not giving the game any more money as long as this keeps up, so I want to try to preserve HP for roster slots.

I was doing the math, and then after a while I was like screw it, let's just use it and see what happens, and so far nobody has survived The Best There Is, including quite a few level 281 Patchs. Usually I'll have a Berserker Rage up too by the time I got 14 red anyway.

I must not be tanking properly. I somehow got put in TheLadder's bracket. That guy was on the top at 9XX TWO DAYS AGO.

I did the best I could with an almost finished Astonishing, a 1-cover X-Force(green), and a Patch cover(green) with my progression reward recruit token(highly vital as the selector *switch to evil voice* does not care which opponent goes in which node, mwha, ha, ha, haaaaa!

Also glad I switched to the 25-man roster before the event. Otherwise my 1-cover Punisher would have had to bite the bits bucket. Thanks so much, HP sale! .

My only worry is that even at 720, my empirically proven bracket of nutjobs might Peacemaker me right out of top 10. (720 buys me 8th righ...edit: shield impacted for 12, now 732, still somehow in 8th.)
