That score makes no sense with two days to go in the tourney.
Why would I want to get over 900 already, just so I have to use 600 HP to shield through to the end? o_o

another possibility could be that he has some things coming up in his real life that wont allow him to play much over the rest of the tourney...so he just grinds up as far as he can as early as he can and sheilds it up. 600 hp for 2 lazy caps is not a terrible investment.

    go tacos!

Yeah, that was precisely my thought.
  • That is so mean putting Bagverine on the Jungle node. I have enough covers to level him effectively, but I refuse.

This is the first time I have used 2* Wolvie in PVP in a long time. He's not so bad, I guess.

I can't catch a break with my opponent placement today. All of the high point opponents are being placed on the X-force node. Most of them are still beatable, but I want to beat them with my newly leveled up Patch!

Also, I've been seeing the same handful of opponents today, if you are one of those I apologize for multiple attacks. I've seen AresWr4th in every PVP I've entered for the last three days.

Anyone's not that bad with a 2x buff lol!

2* Wolverine is still a good character. You just have to play him differently than you used to. Build 12+ red and 12+ green. Then fire off two sets of strike tiles and then gut someone with his red. It's still highly effective (for a 2* character), just much slower.

His nerf certainly wasn't as damaging as what happened to Thor.

What do you mean, Toxicadam? Thor got handled very well, he's still a top 2* character. His yellow got a straight upgrade, it's usually a game over abilitiy among 2* teams atm. Wolverine's yellow suffered a bit too much.

That is the best part. This whole tournament is one extended Lightning Round. Other tournaments buff characters, yeah, but not the alpha strike tile generator. This is 60 hours of quick and easy ISO to feed my characters.

Black Panther has reached his soft cap at 128. I could easily buy a final yellow cover, but I just know that he will be available as a PVP reward shortly after I do that. No, it is finally time to bring Spidey into the triple digits.

As for 2* Wolvie, I agree completely. He just has no place in my 3* roster in most PVP or PVE events unbuffed. My level 128 BP is too lazy to regenerate HP, but when he swings that paw...

You're not skipping them, are you? I always leave my first one on that node and clear out the others so that that doesn't happen again.

I was mixing it up I'd skip one repeat opponent and fight another repeat opponent. There is more diversity in my opponents now, so that's a plus. In regards to not skipping them, have you utilized this approach in the past? If so, does it help alleviate repeat opponents?

First time I've seen NonceEquitaur as an opponent, you have an impressive roster.

No, it's more that if there's a retaliation in the X-Force node, it means the next two retaliations will go in the other two nodes - otherwise, if they're all clear, there's always a chance it will be in the node you can't retaliate to.

In my experience, that chance is 100%, because every #$%^& time the first retaliation seems to go there. You lose the ability to fight the one guy you leave there, but they're the only one you have that problem with.

Or he realizes that with Patch, any team has the damage output to defeat any other team. By hitting the 900s now he knows he has a solid score. I don't think anyone is safe from the zombie hoarde tomorrow.
  • I had The Best There Is instantly killing a level 281 Patch (11K+ damage). It's pretty crazy to see the damage numbers in this tournament.

Anyway, I pulled Yellow Patch from the tourney token, which makes my respec complete - Patch_the_Goon_Killer 535.

The only build he deserves imo. Go berserk or go home.

Under that philosophy 5/5/3 seems like a better build, no? 5 Yellow is wussing out if your motto is all or nothing.
  • I've been doing 5/5/3 for a long time. It's only bad if you're fighting Thor, and you don't have Thor, because you're basically forced to kill your own regen there. There's almost no circumstance where Patch needs a health pack before whoever your other 2 characters are needs 5 of them if they're all equally leveled. That said being weak against Thor is likely to be a very serious weakness, though I'm leaning toward just have a separate team to deal with Thor (which will almost certainly involve Thor too). At any rate it certainly doesn't matter in this tournament when he can do 5 digit damage with The Best There is, or 3K Berserker Rage followed by 2K damage on every damaging ability.

I do find that The Best There Is is typically unwieldy for PvP, because as long as the featured character is not Patch or BW, whoever is featured is almost guaranteed to take 4 colors away from Patch if he's appropriatey leveled.

Yeah, Patch is against everything that I believe in: best there is volatility and dependencies on C. Mags / Spidey for support just makes him feel super narrow. He's obviously incredibly strong and featured in a ton of events, but I'm going to try and preventing myself from leveling him for as long as possible. Gonna this tournament out running A. Wolvie instead and cry when the hoard of patches mows me down.
  • Apparently my max patch/hood/cmags team was beaten by a 137AW, 20 IM40 and 60 cstorm...I don't even...how...Why would you attack this team with that?

And its sitting in the x-force node ****...I have one but I'm not going to make myself vulnerable to spank that...sigh.

Ouch! It's times like those that an instant replay feature would be super handy. That way you could look on in shock and awe at a likely 5 minute long uber cascade wipes your team on turn one. icon_e_biggrin.gif

what's up Chimaera. Looks like we all got a bracket of death icon_e_smile.gif you, me, brady 28, and walkyourpath. At least only top 10 is needed for 2 covers icon_e_smile.gif
  • Yes I noticed that. Originally it was only walkyourpath who I messaged asking if he was going for the IW that he doesn't need, then brady showed up now you... We are in the same ISO-8 bracket as well Mr Goku.

I will likely be getting to a decent point range tomorrow and shielding out early. I go out to play MTG cards all night. Usually have time to defend my pvp tournies before they finish but not against 3 of you. Guess we will see how it shakes out. I'm fine with 2 covers as well. Feel sorry for all those schmucks in there with us...(not really :p)
