    I'm in the 3 star.png land...

So I finally get through the round 4, using 3Cap, KK, IM40 champed (and a lot of health packs btw).

    Now, I'm wondering...
Should I go to the round 5, struggling to hopefully get a counter if I win the round (probably giving me a 2 star.png ), and a amazing Ares ?
Or should I go outside and profite from the last sun days before winter ?
    What a dilemma icon_rolleyes.gif

For Round 7 using Kingpin and Red Hulk plus a random third I can usually get past Hulk and a little into Surfer. Haven't downed him yet. Best I've done is 24,000 points; this last time I barely damaged Surfer and got 17,000-something. By my estimates if I do this another 10 times or so I will clear Round 7. I highly doubt clearing Round 8 is in my future, even though my current 2/0/1 Peggy would love it.
Update: my "strategy" above worked and I was able to clear Round 7. It didn't go quite as expected so I had to do more than 10 boss battles, as my team sometimes got wiped out by Banner/Hulk.

So, I did it; got my blue Peggy cover. It wasn't exactly fun but I was able to pull it off. Tried Round 8 once and my team was downed within 3 moves by boss Phoenix. Yeah, I'm done.
  • Definitely the wost event to date! Up to round 6, made it past OML, used a power to daown him but before Phoenix could make a single match, she took out my entire team! I haven't actually made it through a round of bosses since round 6 and the lack of alliance help is not a good thing. Adding individual rewards is great but it takes so much to get them it's barely worth the effort either! The alliance rewards are practically worthless (for the work) and even the Boss Rush Vault isn't anything all that special.

In concert, this was cool but in practice, it's been a complete fluster cuck!

I love this game, and play it way more than I should. This event did the unthinkable, it made we loathe playing it. I'm not quitting for good, but I'm done with this event.

This anniversary was an absolute, and utter disappointment. I think the highlight so far was the re-run of the Cho event. A low bar, indeed. And then to have that fail... I feel badly for those that got a wanted random Cho green, for instance.

I don't care about compensation for Boss Rush, either. I don't want a few tinykitty tokens as an apology. I want the devs to stop ruining a working game, and do some proper real world testing outside of the production environment.

Well they will probably fix it and re-run it with lower scaling because thats what they do. But I want peggy covers. I got the first one and then got wiped hard in round 7. Hulk got a huge cascade on turn 1 and killed 2 of my people.

Its sad because all they needed to do was let the bosses be stunned, actually have some good characters buffed, or decrease match damage. I dont think anyone was upset about the boss abilities doing tons of damage but the match damage coupled with them almost all creating tiles and not being able to be stunned is nuts.

Despite doing poorly at the bosses, (my alliance) I managed to get to round 8, so I have two Peggy covers at least.

Round 7 starts with Hulk who makes tons of green tiles and uses a green AoE attack. Can't use AoE if there are less than 8(?) green tiles on the board. Use Storm. The other two enemies are much easier.

Round 8 starts with Phoenix who makes tons of red tiles and does a massive AoE attack on her match-5s. I haven't beaten her.

Your alliance had nothing to do with it. all scoring is personal. so you made it to round 8 on your own. Nice work!

good luck against phoenix. I have only beaten her using whales a couple times. Some people are reporting 50 or 60% success rates using hulk or cyke/storm+KK infinity engines. But my own track record using a mix of winfinite, hulkkstorm, and kk/storm/cyke is 0/11. I only got past phoenix twice when used whales. Most fights result in total team wipe for me in about round 3 and do about 700 damage to her.

in the end, I will have had 16 attempts at Round 8, needing only 7ish victories to clear the round. And I will likely get less than 1/2 there. Apparently I suck at beating "get lucky fast or you lose" bosses.

Finished with about 1,262,000 points, falling about 138,000 points short of the third Peggy cover.
Round 8 was absolutely brutal. I did managed to full clear the waves twice- in both cases, it was when I managed to get past Phoenix without her even getting a single turn.

All the other attempts failed pretty miserably, because if she got even a single turn, she generally killed my entire team in her first turn.

That said, if I had planned better, and realized my combo (hulk/storm/KK) was unreliable, I could have done a different strategy that would have done more damage.

I found that using Captain Marvel's Damage Absorption passive gave me enough Red and Black AP that I was able to do about 30k damage to Phoenix before she killed me.

If I had done that more times, going for just damage instead of trying to go infinite for a full clear (which gave like, 90,000 points? Despite the pin saying 9,000) I might have had a shot at the last cover.

I know we won't see the numbers, but I'd be interested in seeing just how many people got how far. Though I suspect they'll be a bit skewed, as I'm sure a lot of people gave up at some point.

Double acceleration should not be a thing.

A full Monday goes by and no word from D3 on this. I must say that not acknowledging the issue is always the worst thing about D3. I get it happened over the weekend (Don't run new events over the weekend) but a simple:

"We have noticed that a large portion of players where unhappy with the high scaling of Boss Rush." Followed by "We are looking into the issue." or "Boss Rush was intended to be very hard and have only a few people finish it." (which would be very poor design and I thought it would be lesson learned from galactus)

Preemptive communication is always nice too.

edit: I did not notice that they did make an update on the 14th. Its not timestamped though
