No need to balance Jace. Soon all the PWs will be where he's at with how things are going.
  • Way to listen to the crying babies and whiners about Kiora. You know, the ones who don't spend any money on your game. The ones that cry and moan because they can't keep up with the most expensive planeswalker available because they won't fork over the $35.00 for her. Kiora was released as the most expensive planeswalker for a reason. She's supposed to be better than the others. You're supposed to have an advantage if you invested in it. If you have the cards to pair with her you're supposed to be unstoppable against standard walkers. It's completely rubbish. You've essentially made her a 250 walker now instead of a 950 walker. I'd like a refund of 700 crystals please. What gives you the right to totally nerf something people spent real money on? It's bad business and totally unfair to your loyal players who invest in the game. I also have some advice for you...quit listening to the crying whiners who don't do anything but spam the boards, ruin the game, and take the fun away. They don't have a clue.

    That's just not true.

The nerf to Kiora was too big though. Just the nerf to first ability would have been enough.

Overall I think the changes are good. Though I agree with the others that perhaps the nerf to 1/2/3/4 for Swirling Waters was rather heavy-handed. Sure it couldn't have stayed at 3/6/12/16 but possibly 2/4/6/8 or even 3/6/9/12 would have been more reasonable.

Kiora is still a strong planeswalker, just not as ridiculously strong as before. Her price tag of 950 crystals might be considered too high now though.

I am very glad that Runaway Carriage has been nerfed. Looking forward to the patch!

    So now the meta's just...koth?

No RC to stop berserkers...no kiora to match the speed.

    Have fun everyone!
  • Spoken like someone who doesn't invest in the game. Nothing that people have specifically spent money one should be nerfed, period. It's not fair to people investing in the game. Say you bought a Corvette and Chevy called and said oh everyone is **** and moaning that the Corvette is just too awesome so we're going to come swap it out with a Malibu but still call it a Corvette. You're not gonna get anything back for that, sorry. It's bull ****. It's like the idiots already crying and moaning about Olivia. Whaaaa Olivia, nerf her, nerf her whaaa. Here's the answer to all off this that the device should be doing instead....tough ****. Tough ****! If you don't like it you have two options. Use your brain and come up with a strategy to beat it (which isn't that hard if you have half a brain for mtg.) or open up your wallet and get out your credit card. For all the crying babies out there, Kiora isn't even the best walker. Sarkhan, Saheeli, Nahiri...all better. Why don't you just tell them to nerf everything. All of them. I can't get a card let's just get it nerfed. I can't get a walker, let's just cry and get it nerfed.

Yeah this is why the banned and restricted card lists for mtg is still empty.

They start with that and ill ask a refund for every card they ban.

You know what... Its time they nerfed free boosters.

This round of nerfs is really making me question why i spent money on the game and more importantly why i should in the future since everything nice you get will be nerfed into submission by crybabies who have nothing better to do

The upcoming coalition event sounds pretty much EXACTLY what I hoped coalitions would do! A team beatdown of an event boss! icon_e_smile.gif Thank you!

Do you have any further details on how it will work? I'm inferring that its a PVE-style event? I hope it is, as otherwise it wont be an even event.

Also, you guys absolutely destroyed Kiora! (As well as SP and harness) RIP my love. Could you guys learn the meaning of subtlety please? icon_razz.gif

    Wow this was unexpected.

    Let's see.

Coalition chat was needed and I predicted it to be implemented soon. Good job.

Coalition event is interesting. We will see how fun and well thought it is.

UI clickable keyword helps new players so well done.

Kiora tuning was needed but as pointed out from other people her first skill was the main problem. That nerf is fine.
Second skill... Only recently I started using it more often and it is currently good.
After the nerf will be totally bad.
Why go directly from 16 mana gain to 4 mana gain without even considering somewhere in between?
Last skill to be honest if ever needed a nerf was in power. I think 6/6 for each octopi(24/24 total power) would have been a better way to do it.
It would have affected crush of tentacles too(I think that also deserves some tuning so it would have been ok IMO).

    Sorin rework looks very promising.
Will ask people on his performance and fun factor/viability but I am more willing to buy him now for sure.

Slayer plate being support... Oh well ok I guess?
Prized amalgam fix: let's hope it's the last one needed.
    Runaway carriage. Fine with it.
Season past: the change to prevent getting itself back was the only one needed. Maybe the other changes are more looking at future possible r/g planeswalker looping with harness the storm. If that's the case the best way would have been to exile(I.e. Not putting into graveyard) seasons past upon cast.
I know it adds another "complicate thing" to the game but is a mechanic in paper magic, that means that sooner or later you will have to use it.

Ulvenwald: change description is not clear. Can't comment.

Harness the storm: what I feared happened. To try and nerf his looping potential you ended up nerfing the normal use mostly.
Looping it requires many low cost spell so gettin the gem destruction before spell is returned does accomplish almost nothing in that regard.
It nerfs non-loop use heavily instead.
Also mana cost was not the problem at all. Prism array is comparable in strength(somehow), costs 6 and it's a rare.
    Harness was fine at 6.

Sage: well at 10 was too strong for its mana cost and rarity. I would have not gone over 14 anyways.
Also since the mana increase, the removal of draw 2 cards upon transformation was not needed.
    Totally over nerfed.

Tyrant of valykut: don't get me wrong the card is very strong. Still I hated the fact that mana reduction was hard to get benefit from since it lasts only until end of turn.
With saheeli I found a way to sometimes get that benefit actually, through token spawn, getting a good feel of combo synergy. I was totally sure(based on description) it should work with tokens too.
Think then you need to update the description for this kind of effect to "non-token creature".

    That's all I think.
  • I don't think Kiora needed nerfing, given the power of recent pws, her first ability might be a bit over the top, but well, she is more expensive to get, you need something in return of your investment.

She has access to green and blue, well yes, Sarkhan has red and black, Nahiri white and red...those are the benefits of leveling a dual pw, which takes a lot longer.

If you hit her harder to make the new Jace more appealing to blue players...then shame on you.

I'm not impressed. Kiora was fun to use, and she was strong. Why would you nerf everything about her all at once instead of small incremental changes?

    What a coincidence!
  • Well, it was fun while it lasted.

I started playing about a month ago under the name Jessica, found the game concepts and deckbuilding interesting, and started playing pretty hard. I didn't mind spending money on stuff, because I enjoy collecting things and felt like the game was worth spending money on.

Now, I'll likely be dropping MPQ and not picking it up again. The central issue is that the trust is gone; trust between a player and a company is something that goes up slowly over time, but can drop very quickly depending on the circumstances. My trust in that I feel my time and money is well spent is gone, for multiple reasons.

There's clearly a lot of neat things in the works and the core gameplay is fun, but the latest patch notes spell out pretty clearly what I can expect going forward and it's not worth continuing to invest a large amount of time and losing sleep to meet event timers.

Thank you for the fun that I did have, and I hope that maybe you do things a bit better for the next guy.

    Thanks,
    Shaulter

It feels like the best cards from SOI and the best PW were nerfed to make room for Jace 2.0 and probably the next card set..

    boo....hiss.....

Kiora's basically useless now aside for her colors.

Naah, her first ability is still good, just not as good. I think we've all got used to the fact that we don't even have to try with Kiora, haven't we?

I never use her first ability, unless I'm desperate. As you've said, since people (I still struggle, so I'll try not to take offense there) don't have to try, I'm usually using her now unplayable ability to draw out creatures (like the UHydra, which was nerfed at the same time) under the 16 mana threshold as something guaranteed).

I am sad.... icon_cry.gif I liked Kiora very much myself, and to see her get downgraded and nerf....*sigh*. Devs, if you're reading through these General Discussion threads, please take note of how unhappy we are.

You should offer a limited time sell back for Kiora; no reasonable person would ever pay 950 for her in her current state. I'm honestly feeling kinda swindled.

Buffing Sorin right after he rotates out is pretty lame.

No one would sell back Kiora. Everyone is complaining, but come next event... You'll still see everyone running Kiora.

She got over nerfed sure... But even as a planewalker with no skills, she would still be popular for the blue green combo.

People are complaining because that's what people do. Kiora is no longer in a tier on her own, but she's still better than average.
