Changes to Mission Difficulty

Contrary to the previous event, I'm doing quite well in this one (I'm back in the top 100)... not sure if it's because the difficulty was lowered a bit for my particular situation, or if it's because my level 75 Thor (2-star) is able to pull me through most of the difficult situations (my other 2 team members seem to be mostly there as punching bags )...
Well, seems Thor was indeed my reason for doing well in the previous PvE event. This time around, the only boosted character from my 2* roster is Hawkeye, so I'm forced to use some of my underdeveloped 3*'s (most of them only have 1/1/1 covers, as I have serious problems gaining any 3* covers outside of the PvE events).
It'll work for the lower levels of the event, but I don't think I'll be able to win anything worthwhile in this one.
I really wish they'd allow a wider variety of 2*s to be used during these PvE events (especially for players that don't really have any useful options at the higher levels), and that they'd make it a bit easier to obtain 3* covers.
PvP doesn't help either... Lightning Rounds only give me useless 1* covers before the level rises too high for me to win anything, and other PvP events will hardly give me any covers at all... and if I ever get one, it's usually a 2* cover that I already have 5 of.
So my main source of covers is Deadpool's Dailies, and again, chances of getting a 2* that I can't use are significantly higher than chances of obtaining a 3* that I *can* use.
How does someone at my level get some useable 3* covers for the characters I have?
Don't count on it.
Focus on leveling your 2* characters, you won't have usuable 3* for quite some time. Don't even bother with 3* that has 1/1/1 covers or anything like that. 2* with max covers will be much better.0 -
Thanks for the advice, guys.* Accumulating HP and adding roster slots
* Rostering every 3* you can, even the bad ones* Championing a few 2*s. Preferably at least 5 or 6
* Focus on leveling your 2* characters, you won't have usuable 3* for quite some time.* Trying and sniping PvP events (not Lightning Rounds!) by entering the event as it is about to end. You may get lucky and place well. Try to get to 300 points for the event token or to 400 for the 25 HP
I guess that (and beating the Big Enchilada in DDQ) requires me championing a few 2*s first, as at my current level, I just get slaughtered if I try.0 -
Big Enichilada isn't that bad most of the time. For me key character was 2* Black Widow to deal with countdown tiles, heal and steal AP. Pair her with anybody that deals decent damage and it should work. It is slow, but DDQ is one of your best ways to get 3* covers.
In PvP don't hesitate to skip plenty of opponents untill you meet easy ones. Play only close to ending time to get wider range of easy targets. Ideally don't target anyone worth less that 43 points.0 -
Okay, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again!0

Step 1: Focus on getting at least 4 or 5 Champion 2*s
Once you have that the PvE events should be fairly beatable. That assumes that you don't have any 5* covers. If you do I'd consider selling them. It will easily be over a year before they are even close to useful to you and they will actually hurt your scaling at this point.
Step 2: Clear events for progression and save up your 25 CPs DON'T BUY LEGENDARY COVERS as this will hurt your scaling. You can use those CPs to buy additional 3* covers at 20 per, this can help you get to the point where you have your first few championed 3*. I'm finding on my alt that clearing the big enchilada with 3 2* champions is still very very difficult (unless they are max champion) so getting at least 2 3* champions is going to help you beat the big enchilada a lot easier.
Step 3: Work on leveling up your 2*s to max and getting 3* covers from the heroic token rewards from 2* championing, the big enchilada, and PvE/PvP placement awards when you can.0 -
Other than removing one reward from nodes, I don't understand what these changes did. Original post states that these changes were to improve scaling (my hardest node went down about 15 levels, 336 -> 322) and reduce playing time. Sure, easing the scaling by little helps some, but what else? I understood that the change meant that timer starts running after three clears, but that's not the case. It still won't start until after fourth, so no time-saving for everyone there.
So, this means that in order to distance from the pack means that you STILL have to play more than four clears. Only this time there aren't any rewards worth playing for. I'm not saying that it's bad giving away all the "good" rewards during the first four clears, but there really is no incentive going forward.
Yet again, devs make changes that make some sense but leave a LOT to be desired for. And even more typical of them, they suck at announcing those changes. Just stop this endless haggling and make all rewards progression based.0 -
PROGRESSION REWARDS ONLY for PVE
..... it could be so simple....instead we are forced to play 3-4 hour straight at the beginning of each sub past the first (at the end of each one and the beginning of the following one)....
Even less iso rewards than before when instead we needed more due to the massive release of characters....
I higly doubt that Devs really want to fix things for this broken game0 -

I feel sorry for anyone trying to get placement in this one. I slowly finished the entire bracket yesterday - green check-marks everywhere, whee! First time I've seen that in over a year! I did it through the day since I had to continually use my best team (scaling at top still to hard unless you own OML...) and didn't want to use boosts (I need ISO, I don't need to be spending ISO); by the end I was first in the sub.
I woke up this morning and saw I finished the sub outside the T100. More than 100 people spent the time to do one clear and then do a full clear at the end...for a non-new character release. That is just insane! Progression only, why have everyone grind more than all of the rewards?!?0 -
pun max covers are going to bring out the crazy.
im just fine 6/6 trivials and 4/4 everywhere else. quite simple and get the vast majority of the awards and all the important ones. the only problem is progression around day 5 and then actually still playing for node awards, yuck. screw placement now and forever more.0 -
I was able to clear everything until last month. No more. The current scaling is garbage and has broken PVE for me. The fix has done nothing. I'm pretty disappointed, to the point that I'm posting here, which I haven't felt a need to in a long long time.0

Alsmir wrote:Oh boy, what an exciting time to be a player with 2* roster!
In PvP I started getting clubbed shortly after I got my first 2* champ. Then I faced all the fun enemies with 5* characters who destroy me with match damage and 3* champs everywhere. Super fun. I pretty much stopped playing PvP completely.
I was slowly progressing in PvE and farming DDQ. I'm still sitting at 4 2* champs (lack of roster space stopped me from leveling new ones), a bunch of 3* (none of them playable), and few 4* with single covers. PvE is a struggle, mainly because of essential missions, that give so many points. There are also events that require grinding for a week, that I just skip, because I don't have time to grind as much.
Only once I managed to get CP reward from full progression in PvE. Recently I acquired some extra hp and I was finally able to roster most of 2* and some extra 3*. I was hoping that it will let me get better progression and placements in PvE.
So, now I learn that 2* essentials will give me less points and I need 4* to make up for it.
**** am I supposed to do? Can't get 4* in PvP, with new changes I will also struggle to get any 4* from placement in PvE. On top of that, every single roster spot gets more expensive, because of reasons mentioned above, I even struggle to get decent amounts of hp for more space. Then devs flood us with new 4* chars every 10 days and immidiately throw them as essentials in new PvE events.
If the solution is: spend more rl money or fk off, then the answer seems obvious.
It gets better! I was were you are
Spend HP on NOTHING but roster slots. Don't be tempted by anything else. It'll be a bit of a limp ahead if you're not willing to drop some Logan's Loonies but it's possible!0 -

The link in the in game pop up actually acknowledges it. But, as usual, they are terrible at communication.

Edit: Also, it states one time nodes now give 200 iso.
And for quick reference -
Ducky's version might be cleaner, but I prefer the one with the red line showing what was removed.
Allow me to quote myself from when they made changes to the DPD prize pool:These are the kind of things they do that make me crazy.
They could have just removed some 2* and health packs and replaced them with 1k & 500 iso. But no, they had to remove 21 of the 30 1,500 rewards to do it. That's 70% of them, gone. Why?
Yes - two baby steps forward and one step back is still one baby step forward and I like going forward, but WHY DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO TAKE THAT STEP BACK?
So again, they could have just removed one clear and removed row 7. Or even left row 7, if people want to play an extra clear for 1 point and some crit boosts why not let 'em? Instead, we get a small improvement with a small detriment, because reasons.0 -

Fair enough. I'll admit I didn't look close enough to note that row 3 had changed. So the net effect is negligible (70x9 per sub), but the user's disdain for crit boosts has been made clear to them for years now. Leaving them in still feels like trolling.0 -

But the version with the red line is wrong.
For instance, on Hardest (1 Day), the red line version shows the 250 ISO removed while in reality it was the 70 ISO removed. They didn't just remove a line. It looks like they actually removed a 70 ISO from each column.

Since I never care about placement I almost always go S1 (run it any time during the day, opens 5am my time) and I almost always pre-join.
Even so....usually doing that same thing I could be T200 just doing easy/cp clears and T100 doing 4x everything clear. Must be the Punisher pushers0 -

Pre-joining could be part of your problem. I usually join slice 1 at around the time of the daily bonus on the first day. All the uber-competitive optimal clear people usually join right away, so joining a few hours later can result in an easier bracket.0 -

I always do slice 5 and almost always wait until about 12 hours in to join. I like having a little break between that last grind and my first grind of the next event. This is definitely the most competitive I have seen since the switch in format, oddly even more competitive than the Wasp release. Usually slice 5 has 12 or so guys really fighting for top 10, sometimes even less than that as evidenced by my placing 8th in one despite not doing optimal clears past the first 4. This one I barely cracked top twenty and I actually was forced to do an optimal clear because I got caught up at work and didn't get out until 1am EST leaving me just an hour to do those last two clears.
People must really want those 4pun covers. Which is nice, knowing that I can ramp way down and still probably hit top 50 without driving myself too hard for the rest of the week.0 -

The main problem is that the game should not allow people who play less to gain better rewards only for having been lucky enough to find an easy bracket....Same points should be rewardered with the same prize. I am sick and tired to score much more better than my teammates (I am happy for them tough ) but everytime struggling to be in top 10 while others with 3k-5k points less than me get in top 3....this is not fair and the "copy and paste" replay to my tickets, by D3 has increased my frustration
PROGRESSION REWARDS ONLY is the solution. Fix a maximum points for optimal clears of the whole event and give the same rewards to all players that are able to get there (like they did with the last EOTS test)0
