I saw IceIX's explanation of that in the R52 thread. It never happened for players, only the AI.IceIX wrote:Phaserhawk wrote:IceIX wrote:Alliances

Okay, not that big of a nerf, but not sure what they are doing. Was she doing double tile damage on black, purple, and blue event if she wasn't the highest?
So it should work out better for us.0 -
Just want to let everyone know thati will be unable to play May 12-22 since I will be out of country and not sure of internet status0

Couldn't sleep... Got a little carried away in the Doom pvp...up to 970 for now, Brady28 is in the same bracket. I assume if I want first it will take a minimum of 1100 points.0

Thinking about it, it doesn't really seem like a nerf, though... Reads to me like it's nerfing a "cheat tactic" for the AI... Lol
Yeah when I use her she has never been able to steal when there is someone with a higher value on the team so why should the AI get to do that. Another char that I think is bugged is Ares "onslaught" does not seem to give you the green ap when you are attacked by him on the enemy team. Hopefully they correct that one as well.0 -

I kept an eye on my green today after you mentioned the Ares issue. I was receiving green AP this morning from Onslaught, but I'm going to continue to keep an eye on it.0 -
My turn to seek advice from the great sages. I'm in a position I can wait to see what the future holds, but without 141's I'm feeling at a disadvantage in Season scoring. I may be able to see a few more skips depending on how I play this.
70k ISO in reserve.
130 mThor
125 Panther
105 Punisher
102 Steve
100 Patch
89 Hulk
87 Hood
85 Spidey
81 Psylocke
60 GSBW 5-3-4
Thor and Panther have become my go to guys as they both hit like a truck and can absorb a lot of damage. Steve I've looked at building up for the same reason. GSBW would add more green tile generation with the perk that I really don't care which of the two greens fire.
IMO, they are all useful in their own right and diversity has served me well so far. But diversity is more of a PvE thing. Unless another Lone Star or Bad Is Good rolls around, having 2 heavies seems to be essential. I will admit that Spideys heals are less effective with 7000 health bruisers so putting a few into him to reduce prologue time would be nice, but as a low priority.
Except where noted, 13 covers all around. Not interested in CMags who needs 4 purple covers. (Big thanks to everyone for that wonderful Alliance reward)
Any thoughts or input would be welcome. I'm looking to hit 1k in each PVP, but things get rough around 750 right now where everything opens up.0 -

Unfortunately my Hood is weak so I can't speak from personal experience, but from what I've seen in discussion and in theory, Hood+2 Heavy Hitters (probably LThor and Panther, maybe Steve or Punisher) is the way to go for an A-team. On offence and defense, Hood deprives the opponent's LazyThor/BP while boosting yours, seems like that's often the difference between victory and defeat.0 -
I'm just thinking about the team damage that 141 Thor and Black Panther can do. It hurts just to think about...yea, level those fellas up.
I am putting all the ISO I get into not so Lazy Thor...16 levels to go. And with the 141's I already have maxed, he can round most teams out.0 -
Hood is good without having to level him up. I wish there was a decently tanky Blue/Black/Purple character to protect him, though :[
Steve is my PvE god. The Hunt really opened my eyes on how amazing he is. In PvP, however, you want someone much faster. Getting anyone to 141 is a great idea. It's a wonderful deterrent, and having 2-core members will get you far (mine is Patch and Punisher, though OBW sometimes takes Punisher's place). mThor and bPanther would both be great assets on your core team. OBW or Hood make for a great third (I prefer OBW for the long term sustain). I would max them out rather than spread it around.0 -
Some thoughts:
- Hood is a great support character, but he doesn't need to be maxed. Just high enough to survive an attack or two.
- Punisher really is a great all-around character.
- I don't have lazyThor or Black Panther at very high levels so I can't speak to how they play (though I know they are both great for team damage at high levels). I will say that neither one of them really scares me away from a fight, even maxed. I usually find that I can deny them the AP they need to get off their abilities, especially with Hood. I would skip a maxed LT/BP/whoever team if I was in a hurry, though.0 -
During the Doom PVP round our alliance managed to barely finish within top 100, so I wanted to bring up something that I've been noticing. I'm not sure if the effect was magnified by the fact that the Hunt event was also ending at the same time, but there are quite a few players that don't participate much in the PVP tournaments.
I am not calling anyone out or anything like that, since right from the start our alliance has been pretty laid back and I don't want anyone to feel like it's a job or anything. However, I don't quite understand why you wouldn't try to get at least a single 3* cover from the tournament if you actually do need the cover, e.g. C Mags. Same with the Lazy Thor rewards, there were quite a few people who don't have maxed Lazy Thors who didn't get points above 300.
I'm guessing that a lot of players feel that they have no chance in placing high because they only have 2* rosters. But actually, in my experience roster strength is maybe only 30% of the game. The meta-game is far more important, in the sense of timing of events (don't join right at the start...), understanding scaling, rubberbanding and managing your MMR. There's no reason why you can't get top 25 or even top 10 with a 2* roster, in fact that's exactly how you're supposed to get your 3*s. You can't rely on lucky token pulls or alliance rewards because that will take 5 years. During the Doom PVP I fought plenty of teams in the 700+ points region with default Doom and 2 maxed 2*s, in fact I'd prefer to skip the 85 OBW/85 Thors if I could due to the sheer annoyance factor of OBW.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's really no reason why anyone in our alliance can't get at least 500-600 points (RL commitments allowing, of course). You may think that you have no chance against 141s, but really you shouldn't even be having to fight them unless you're trying for top 1 placement. If you need tips on how to win (either PVP or PVE), please feel free to ask. MPQ is really a much easier game than you probably think it is. Just think of those triple goon fights that are ranked as DEADLY in intimidating big red letters. You may think that your team stands no chance, but when you try it you'll find it's actually much easier than anticipated as long as you bring the right team. You don't even need to spend money or anything like that, in fact I've never spent anything and before the Doom tourney, I've never even shielded (first time I shield and I get 2 Falcon covers out of it ).
Again, I don't want to put any obligations on anyone, but rather just try to help out those that may be intimidated by PVP. If you don't manage to rank high enough to get a cover, it's no big deal, but if you don't even try your chances are zero.0 -
Bump.
I have nothing relevant to say. I just hate searching for our thread.0 -

I up voted Pliks post but I thought I would just state again, I appreciate someone writing it out. We are not a hardcore alliance going for top 2 every tourney but there are definitely some people who have fallen into once to twice a week players. I imagine I am not alone that we would like a little more commitment to that. It feels like one third the alliance broke 1100 today in falcon pvp and one third doesn't feel the need to break 300.
Not going to get all up in arms about anything right now. We still place in the top 100 alliance rewards, and that is the end goal anyways, to get the bonus hp and covers. Sockid is going on vacation in a while for over a week and losing one of our highest caliber players will affect our placement significantly I fear.0 -
3 over 1300, 3 over 1100.
My wife is about to get her first level 85 character. I can say that she doesn't really see a lot of attacks dragging her down until she hits around 600-700. D3 changed something to get more points in the system in addition to more people scoring with the season incentive. It's a lot easier to get those scores.0 -
I guess is should have kept pushing last night. The points in the Falcon PVP are out of control.0
-
I guess I need to build my team more, even with multiple hits on kyip i never managed to reach 1100, like six times I got to 1080-ish and then got knocked down to 950 during the next battle. It's such a kick in the balls when your "win" screen shows you over 1100 but you never make it there0
-
I've said my piece in the falcon thread but hopefully there will not be fallout from the people taking advantage of that shielding glitch. Obviously they can't do anything about the scores but season 1 integrity has been ruined.
Guess we will see within the next 2 tournies if D3 will change things based on false positives. I liked the obtainable 1100 cover for dedicated attempts.0 -
It is crazy. In my falcon bracket the top 7 are now all over 1000 points.
On another note, my cMags is now covered and leveled enough that I can now experience "cast beserker rage and spam blue & red until everyone's dead". That combination is completely ridiculous. And a lot of fun.0 -

That's all I do in most things. And I run 5/5/3 so get red spam in there.0
