I don't have time push this evening and what with all the Patches and Ares I faced I have spent way too many health packs on this tourney to not make top 10, argh

Meanwhile, I'm going to need to gain some points here in a little bit... I'm in 10th right now and Jozier's still behind me. Our bracket's top 10 is going to end up all at 800+ points. Crazy.

Moral

I was definitely not ambitious enough this morning. Still at 720 shielded bouncing between 6th and 9th. My bracket leader is only around 777, but Patch plays so fast there is no guarantee I could strike and reshield before a level 141 Patch eats my team.

****. Got up to about 860 points, checked the leaderboard, put up a 3 hour shield, then got the notification that I was attacked and I actually only have 813 points. They seriously need to fix that.

Phew!! I had a retaliation war against a max A. Wolverine, max OBW and 115 Psylocke losing 30+ points and getting 20 every fight. Lost near 200 ISO skipping 250+ Patch teams and Alucard 5 or 6 times. My phone was dying at 12% and I had no time to look for the charger because I would lose traction in that war. Finally reached 900 points, put a shield and stopped 3 attacks in 3 minutes ... and yet I'm not positive on ending top 10. Crazy indeed.

I have a fully covered GSBW so I won't be doing much in the Cap tournament, either. I joined tonight and will play during the weekend for ISO, then try to get a good amount of points at the end for the alliance.

Mags, my bracket has been very active today. First is shielded with 878 points and 10th is the only person unshielded with 665 points. I have been trying to cross 700 points for the last hour and I cannot do it. I'll get up to 685 or so and get hit for -40 or more...I finally just gave up, I'm shielded at 640 in 15th. At one point I got so frustrated that I attacked the same person three times in row...once in my queue and then in back to back retaliations.

Not my finest moment.

I snuck into the top 10 in the final seconds finishing at 773. Not sure where that was on the leader board because the event ended as I was finishing the last battle.

I have a question for all of you. The last few PvPs I've been unshielding with about 3 minutes to go to try one last attack. Do all of you use a similar strategy? I feel foolish for not thinking of it sooner honestly, as I seem to always end up a few points shy of finishing top 10. I realize there is a chance of being attacked again in that window, but it seems worth the risk as if you are sitting 11th or 12th, the award is the same up to 25th, but there is a huge premium for sliding into 10th. What do all of you think?

Just got the individual and alliance rewards. Thank you everyone, the Cap cover, ISO, and HP for alliance rewards is very much appreciated.

maxpowerlego, yep, I do the same thing. Not always; only if I'm in danger of losing the cover I want or just short of getting the cover I want. I did that this tourney; queued up a couple of high-point battles then unshielded in the last five minutes. I was at #10 and #11 and #12 were making me nervous. Played 2 matches but I think only the first one counted. I did end up top 10, though, so it worked.

This one was crazy. I am so glad I don't have to worry about any of the covers for this next event.

Yeah, that's why you often see people saying things like "I've got a 25 point retaliation queued up just in case." Definitely worth doing if you're in 12th-8th or 1st-2nd and you're within 30 points of the people above or behind you

Moral

I think most players that break shield have someone queued up ahead of time. Your only risk would be the last hour grinder happening upon you.

Or if you're someone's last minute target they lined up hours ago before you shielded.

Seriously, though, 5/5/3 is the recommended and most popular build for her, but I swear, I cast mStorm's red power once, maybe twice, and then never get to use it again in a match because barely any environment tiles drop after that. I did put her red at 4 so I could cast it once I made 2 red matches, but I get some good use out of Hailstorm in the occasional 1* tourney. It's a minority opinion but it works for me.

I had her at 5/4/4 for a long time, but I was finally convinced to go 5/5/3. On the occasions I use her in PvE, being able to use it after one 5-match, or a 3-match+critical red match, or when it costs 5, you use it twice, and you still have enough AP to use Retribution when you wouldn't otherwise, outweighs the extra 24 damage you get taking Hailstorm from 3->4

It's not just an extra 24 damage. Each turn you get out of those extra stones get you more and more damage every turn. And usually you can keep getting black and green and keep the board tiled. Also most of enemies strike tiles or protect tiles aren't able to be put on non basic tiles so you start to make certain characters like daken, wolverine and several others a lot less effective. Plus those environment ties don't do to much damage.

Last night I ended up finishing in top 5. Think I was # 3. The # 1 and 2 spots were probably a good 100 points ahead of me so I just made sure to stay in the top 5. Have yet to put up a shield in an event because I have been using all my HP for extra character slots. Soon enough I should have all the different characters hopefully.

It's been a very casual day of MPQ play, which is a nice change of pace for once. I've been messing around in the First Avenger event...I'll get up around 600, stop and let myself get knocked back down. I'm just playing for the ISO as I don't need any GSBW covers and Shamusyeah can get points at will it seems, so first is a serious climb.

I've been playing Unstable ISO-8 very casually too. Once in the morning, and once before the reset. Before I made my last pass a few minutes ago I was in the 250's, now I'm in 10th...this has been a weird event so far.

I just got up from about 250th or so to 1st in my bracket. You're right, this is such a weird event, but I'm appreciating the change of pace after the last PvE.

And it keeps getting weirder! I thought I was timing it right by making a pass just before midnight...assuming we'd be getting new nodes. Nope.

Yep, that's what I thought, too. We're not the only ones who assumed that. I'm guessing they'll appear tomorrow at noon, but I'd laugh if they gave us new nodes at some random time like 10:19am or something just to completely mess with everyone.

These events are a yawn. Actually rank doesn't matter in the PvE and PvP I have used cap skills twice, and only because I felt like it, not that it was correct to do so. Running max Punisher/C.Mags. Sitting at 620 just because.

Back to 480 it appears sigh, but with each node having at least one 30+ point retal. Not going to push until under 3 hours I think. Need top 10 but I'm at home so no need to push early and waste hp on 8h shields. Plus people are more fearful of attacking max level teams when its time crunch time as opposed to 8 hours out.

Skipped through 6 matches and saw nobody over 12 points, so I've shielded before all the people I hit retaliate. Got to 789, my bracket doesn't seem too intense so it should be good for top 10.
