F2P Veterans Alliance
Just starting a thread here for members of the alliance, and to let others know who we are and what we stand for. Quite self-explanatory really:
F2P - Members have not and will not spend money on the game
Veterans - Members have been playing since near the beginning (preferably day one)
Rail - Rail
We want to push an alliance of F2P players as far as it can go, and beat out paying alliances through skill, strategy and effort. If others are interested in joining then either leave a reply in this thread or pm me.
For current alliance members, if others wish to join us and are eligible, how should we approach the high cost of extra slots? I'm open to suggestions.

Just joined the alliance so popping in to say hi. Hope you are all enjoying the current Hulk event. I'm finding it a bit of a grind but all that ISO is hard to say no to.
As for extra slots, it would be nice if the developers allowed anyone to add slots so people could take turns expanding the alliance.0 -
Hello F2P Veterans members, I'm Munkeeboi69. I have been looking for an alliance of skilled F2P members for a little while now, and I think I may have found exactly what I'm looking for! I've been playing since early this past fall, and have never spent a dime on the game. I never intend to change that! I have a decent roster of characters, including several 3*'s. As of right now, I play every day for a couple hours here and there depending on my schedule. I'm very interested in joining your ranks, if you guys would have me!0
-
Hi fellow F2P Veterans.
Am also enjoying the Hulk event - nice to have an event where 2* rosters can do relatively well. (If only I had a Black Panther cover!)
I suspect the devs will be tweaking the Alliances as they go along - Lazer's suggestion is a good one.
Now - off to grind out that final Punisher cover.0 -
I want to join in the alliance, can I?0
-
I've managed to gather enough hp from this Hulk event that I can afford a 6th slot for our alliance, and when that happens then Munkeeboi69 you're more than welcome to join. However I am going to hold off on doing so for now, because I feel like the current cost is really high and I'm hoping the devs will drop it soon. If they don't drop the price before the first 'alliance event' then I'll probably buy the slot anyway.0

I just found the thread. Thanks to fluffyudders for setting up this thread and this great alliance. I am very proud to be part of it and look forward to kicking butt together.
Just finished off the hulk event. Personally I shoulda spent more time on that one. Missed the top 3300 bracket by about 243 points. Got one 3* thor at least but I was really hoping for 2 thor covers. Although I can say I am completely confused by his powers being exact duplicates of the 2* thor. I assume they will be nerfing him again?
Just to let you guys know I started the latest tourny "fearless avengers" and it is supposedly alliance based. I won the first battle so let me know if you notice anything on your end. As I have no idea how it is going to work, but I promise to battle hard for my alliance.
As for the addition of extra member slots, I would have no trouble kicking in some iso8 for the f2p cause. Just let me know if there is anyway I can help out.0 -
I managed to hang on for three 3* Thor covers from the Hulk event although at first glance he doesn't look very exciting. Decided to dump my ISO winnings into Patch.
I just played my first match of Fearless Defenders. Will be interesting to see how the alliances work. Right now, it looks like we get a total alliance score, I guess just a sum of our individual points. Since this is the only event on at the moment, I think competition will be fierce in this one.
I'm also happy to pitch in for alliance expansion if possible.0 -
I've played a couple rounds on Fearless Defenders. I usually wait until later in PvP events to start, but thought an earlier start would help the Alliance. Looks like we are sitting around 1200 place on Alliance Rank at the moment.
So - what's the best strategy as far as an Alliance for F2P players? I usually hoard my HP for roster space - will need 2 spaces for BP (hopefully after this event), and 4* Wolvie (who is a daily reward next week for me).
Do you guys think it is best to use the HP for new characters - which seem to be coming out like candy - or to expand the Alliance?0 -
Just to keep you guys posted, the cost of a new slot for the alliance is a whopping 600HP, and it goes up from there (700HP for slot 7, 800HP for slot 8 etc). This seems insanely high to me and it's going to be tricky as F2P players to make this work. I have had a couple of requests from people who say they're willing to join and pay for their own slot, which is awesome but I haven't quite figured out just yet how that will work. From what I can tell it would mean me buying a slot, them joining, and then me making them a co-commander so that they can buy the next slot, and carrying on in that fashion. The problem with this idea (and something I'm going to post about in the general discussion forum in a mo) is that after I buy a slot, accept an invitation request and make someone a co-commander, there is the chance then that they don't buy the slot, and their power will be the same as mine, meaning I won't be able to demote them or kick them out, and if they felt like being mean they could kick everyone else out. It seems pretty unfair, but I don't really see any other way of managing it. Thoughts?
As for the current event, I'm fairly sure it's just a case of placing as high as you can in the tournament, and our combined scores making up our alliance score. This means that alliances with more members have a fairly obvious advantage, and one we probably can't do much to overcome at the moment. The obvious goal would be to hit the top 100 alliances so everyone gets an extra BP cover, but I'm not sure that's going to be possible just yet until we've worked out this HP problem. For now, rank as best you can in this tournament, but don't forget that this time your actual score is just as important as your overall rank. Competition will be fierce, especially as it's the first alliance event (so people are looking to establish themselves) and there are no other events on. If you're finding your match-ups tricky, then try tanking in the SHIELD Simulator to give yourself an edge. It DOES work, but it's something that takes a bit of time and kills off most of your characters. PM me if you want the most efficient strategy (must try to prevent it being too public, alliance strategy is confidential!)
Also Wil, I'm not going to dictate what members should do with their hard-earned HP. Of course saving for alliance slots would help the alliance more, but if you need the roster slots then take them.0 -
HI, I'm very willing to join and have a solid roster with all ** and up characters. I'm a true F2P player, and since I've saved up a lot of HP I'd also be willing to buy a slot.0

The way is is looking right now, with the first place alliance being of 20 members and growing (was 11 last night). I dont see any point in advancing the alliance. There will need to be a member cap or something. Once again the developers have successfully established a working money grab, which I am sure all of our F2P comrades will agree, is not worth the investment of hard cash.
So I say we wait it out a bit, as always things will change, we have all experienced lots of that with this game.0 -

Hey members.
I am curious as to where everyone is from and what time zones you are in.
I am from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The time zone here is mountian is daylight time we are at -6 hours.0 -

Amen to that quadiak, one of the major advantages (and reasons) for having a F2P Veteran Alliance. It's horribly P2W at the moment, but I remain hopeful it's a system they will fix. I've seen suggestions elsewhere on the forums about taking an average, but the best suggestion I've seen related to only taking the combined score of the top 5 scorers of each alliance. I propose we stick with what we have until then. Also I have numerous requests to join from people willing to pay for their own slot, but until the command structure is changed so that we can't experience the problem I highlighted earlier in the thread, I'm not going to expand the roster beyond 5.
Also, I'm from the UK so I'm on GMT, they have gotten better lately with making the ending of events a little more reasonable for Europeans, so I'm hopeful for less 4am grinds, gotten out of the habit lately and not sure I want to go back!0 -

Timing is certainly important in this game.
Up until they introduced the shields I was able to play late into the night, 1,2 sometimes 3am, with no other players in sight. I was able to build up 500 point leads only to lose 450 points upon waking up in the morning. Terribly frustrating. Then came sheilds and it was good for about a week, I depleted my hp but earned an invisible woman and a couple wolvy x-force covers. I have since given up on shields unless there is a prize I want really badly, I need to save most of my hp for new character slots in order to stay competitive.
I was also thinking we should start a group pm with our members to talk strategy. I also have a few tricks I might want to keep away from prying eyes.0 -
Greetings, everyone.
I've registered just for this. I'm not exactly a veteran (just got my day 75 reward), but due to placing high in pretty much every event since I started, I think I have a nice roster for a free to play player, with 56k unspent ISO-8 since I pretty much only level up the characters that are powered up for a specific event and that suit my playing style.
My highest are Thor (85) and Original Black Widow (85), which I cycle with whomever is powered up. Modern Storm (50) also gets play time depending on the map.
My ** levels are all over the place, but I have all of them and can max out any ** character, just need to dump ISO into them.
As far as *** go, I have every one of them except Black Widow (Grey Suit) and Daredevil. I can level up Punisher to 77, Spider-Man and Classic Magneto to 64, Patch to 53 and Iron Man (Model 40) to 18. Psylocke is maxed at 41 and Dr. Doom at 38. The rest are stuck at 15.
**** I'm missing Wolverine, can level Invisible Women up to 46.
On PvP, I place at least in the top-50. I always go for at least 500 points (for the 50 Hero Points reward), then it's pretty much luck based if I'm not around when the PvP ends.
I know the Alliance is full, but I'm throwing my name for when there's space. I actually like the mentality of keeping this Free to Play and trying to thrive against other Alliances that sink money into this game.0 -

Sorry to say it, but it would defeat the purpose of our alliance if you joined, as it is only for (very) long time players. However you're not the first person to contact me wanting to join a F2P alliance but not having the experience under your belt. I will pm you the name as I believe he was hoping to set up a F2P sister alliance for people such as yourself.0 -
Hey guys, I know I'm not a member, but I have a suggestion about communication. I suggest that perhaps members should download the "Line" app. You can easily message team members instantly and start separate group chats for different purposes. Line has been the most effective way to communicate with groups/alliances/teams in many different games/apps. Think about it guys, I believe Line would be a great way to communicate and talk strategy privately amongst the alliance. It could give us a leg up on the competition.0

I would assume that, being F2P players, people are more likely to want to keep things a little more casual...0 -
