i'll tell you why you got t50 placement.
1st - rubberbanding was turned on (you gain more points depending on how far you from top1 player)
2nd - a lot of top players skipped this event at top progression mark. Cho doesn't worth the grind and time.

You would never be in top50 without 1) or 2)

I skipped this event because i don't want this system to stay, though it was easy to get top10 reward to be honest (when i hit 35k mark i was at the 5th place and then simply stopped).

The reason why i don't like the system - it is not fun. I love trivial nodes where i can relax, i like hard nodes where i can get 500 iso and tryhard. I like easy essential nodes to test combinations. But i don' like all hard nodes... Without any change to rewards. Why the hardest difficulty give you 0 rewards (7+ wins)? Can you explain?

sounds like you was in a noob bracket people in my bracket all had over 90k for top 10...

i hit CP and quit and took 425th.

those missing the new PVE you wont miss it much.. they already pushed the new PVP into and who cares what players want the new PVE will be added as well.. too bad most will then just leave

    I finished with 80k. 10th place had 86k and 1st had 96k.

That beacause of rubberbanding. It really benefits those who play late and descourage early grinders. without rubberbanding this evnt would not be that great for you.

For example my nodes in last sub were giving somwhere around 1500 points per clear. So i could easily make top 50 from top 400 just by playing in the last sub (full 7 clears + 5 grind clears)

Yes, I only did 7 clears each leg, including the 48hr portion. So in total 7 clears for each match over the 3 legs of the event.

    "Only".

I never saw nodes worth 1.5k on any matches during all three subs. Maybe 600 or so points for Flapcap if I remember right.

I finished 5th in the last event and i did not do 7 clears each sub.

I missed the first sub. Entirely. Did one clear of the next 2 subs and hit the cp nodes and esentials 5 or 6times each and finished 5th.

    That's what I did do.

    What I didn't do is...

Set an alarm for 4 am to make sure I was up on time to clear on schedule.

Sit there on my phone while my family did fun things without me because I had to clear on time.

Eat my dinner with one hand because I needed the other hand to make sure my clear was done on time.

All this...and I finished 5th. The problem is not the new system, it's people's attitude towards it.

And before someone says it number 1 in my bracket had a cover maxed and level 343 oml and a 7 cover phoenix so it was not a noob bracket.

normally I would say the same thing, but I was having fun, and picking up some ISO. The placement was incidental. I didn't really care, but was happy to get it nonetheless.

The top 5 in my bracket were all mainly 3 or 4* champed rosters and most had some developed 5*. There were no 2* rosters in the top 5 but one did come in 7th.

These are definitely inconveniences with the old system.

i dunno. i can place in the top 25 or better either way if i feel like putting in the time. however, i think the new system, with the play when you can feature is better. i think it still could use some tweaks, but i hope they stick with it and try to iron them out.

Here is an example of why I disagree. Player X can get top 50 (or 100 or 200 or whatever) when he puts in the effort. He enters an event thinking he will not have much time to play and so he expects to play casually. The first sub is halfway over and he suddenly finds he has more time than he realized. Player X can now compete evenly if he chooses to (in the new system). Instead of being behind because of points allotted on a strict schedule (in the old system).

I was not bothered by the clear when you want. I prefer the old system because the new system felt like more of a grind having to clear 2,3,4 up to 7 times at the start of the event and then again at the end. The bigger issue I had was the scaling. My "easy" nodes on the new system started at level 209. In the heroic my hard nodes start at 209 and the hardest node is 235. My hard nodes on the new system were at level 300 to start and after a couple clears were at 350. Now I can clear the nodes with effort but now each clear takes longer and more potential health packs and less diversity in my roster. I normally finish top 50 in PVE with 3-4 clears a day maybe a grind on the easy nodes for ISO or I will go after the CP. I rarely play on time. I actually choose and end time that is bad for me just so I am not tempted to grind at the end of subs.
the old system is much easier to achieve progression rewards and much less frustrating since you don't have to face over scaled nodes. The new system needs a lot of work before the roll it out as permenant.

That didn't at all meet up with my experience in the test in a vet bracket. I hit CP on day three and was probably 2x that amount by the end of the event by playing all nodes to at least 6 and all the goon/essential nodes to 7. I never played a single node for no reward and ended up just outside the top 20 which is probably as high as I've ever finished in a vet bracket.

To be fair I am sure that if the covers offered were more coveted by the player base it would have meant a top 100 finish rather than ending at 23. Still seems fine to me. I vastly prefer the new PVE as it at least rewards players for clearing the most nodes rather than optimizing a clock every 8 hours. Is it a lot of grinding? Yes. Was the old system a lot of grinding, also yes, there were still people running 7+ clears of every node. The difference was that those people also had rosters who excelled at clearing nodes super quick every 8 hours rather than spread out over 24 hours. Top placements didn't seem to be very different, the guys ending up in top 1-2 were both names I have seen on leaderboards before, both 4* champs with 5*s very well covered.

Given a choice between the two I would pick the new system especially if progression is as easy as it was in this event (which won't be the case because of the rubber-banding gaffe). The people who end up top 10 won't really change much (although they might have to play a little more to get there) and the people who used to snipe brackets for placement won't be thrilled but hey no system is going to make everyone happy.

After taking a look at your roster the thing to remember is the scaling test favored you a lot. By having a 2* roster the feedback was the scaling felt good and you were not scaled out of the nodes. For 4* players the scaling was drastically different. when an ok board would cause you to need 2 health packs on goon nodes it is just not fun. When you can only use boosted max 3* for the first 1-2 clears and then they are out scaled, the game is not fun. It created a grind of only using an A team. How much fun is it playing 6 nodes 6 times with the same team? The point of the test is to reduce the amount of grinding and let people play when they want. You even think top 10 will have to play more to stay top 10. That means the test is doing the opposite of what it should do. The new system they had in place has potential to be better, but right now depending on where you are in the game it is either better or a lot worse.
I would also say if you are able to clear a regular PVE 4 times per sub you can earn top 50 in PVE if you play close to ideal timing. New characters is a different story, but regular PVE you can place fruit;y well without ideal grinding.

I've been routinely hitting top 50 in the old system. With an okay board I was still having to use health packs or go to different teams of the same relative strength. Which was one of the reasons I made my 2*s as numerous as I did rather than jumping right in to the 3* transition. I did play a lot, but I was also having to play a lot in the old system. I do think top 10 will have to play more to to stay top 10, I don't see a problem with that. If they can't handle it there isn't going to be a vacuum. New players will take their place by grinding it just a little more.

I fully understand that the new system will present bigger difficulties as my roster grows. That is the point of most games. I play chess competitively online. As I have become better at the game the site I use steps up the level of opponent I face. There are definitely hard walls that I run into but as I improve so does my opposition. That is part of the fun. Facing more and more challenging people. Or in the case of this game more and more difficult opposition in terms of the teams you face. I've played with a 4* roster on a friend's account I fully understand that there is a time element to some of the tougher matches and that there is a fair amount of team shrink that goes along with it. That really isn't that different than when my roster only had 2 or 3 characters I could use, as you jump through the transitions I am sure there are several such tipping points where you are behind the 8 ball.

No matter what format is used there are going to be some players who like it and others that don't. I'm sorry my experience doesn't mesh with yours but neither of our experiences is "the one true gospel". For me right now, I prefer the new system, I prefer a system that rewards people playing more over a system that rewards people who play at predetermined times with more efficiency.

That because you were not far behind from top place. I was at 400th place (with 50k difference from top1) and nodes were giving me 1500 points. The later you join, the better rewards. If rubberbanding was turned off you'll never get 600 points for falcap - 400 at best. And of course it will take you full two subevents clear to get progression reward not just 1,5 subevent

In other games, there is also a proportionial increase in rewards as the difficulty increases. In MPQ, both 2* and 4* players are playing for the same prize pool, often in the same bracket. If the 4* players are going to have a more difficult time of it due to scaling hitting them harder, they should be getting more in return for their efforts as well... and we all know the likelihood of D3 making a change in that is pretty much zero. So instead, a better balance needs to be found.

Of course that still doesn't fix the issue of having to play for several hours straight at the start of each sub for placement in vet brackets, which I personally think is even worse than the scaling issues, because it turns the PvE aspect of the game into a massive chore, especially for a high-end roster.

It's fine that as a less advanced player the new format is working for you, and it's a good thing that you're communicating to the devs what works for you, but when the game becomes close to unplayable for another part of the playerbase, major tweaks still need to be made to improve quality of life for everyone. Scaling aside, personally I'd suggest either reducing the number of clears until nodes start to lose points to 4 or so, or automatically resetting nodes to full points 1-2 hours before the end of each sub, since that would truly allow players of all kinds to play when they want.

If you're not T50, you have no reason to give a tinykitty. It's the same game for you regardless. And no, this isn't aggression because you like the new system. It's aggression because you can't even understand there's no reason for you to like it.

So player X did a clear when the first sub started, he lost one clear and then played at the end of the sub until all nodes got to 1. Then he played normally all the other subs. This would give him without a doubt a top50 position, he just lost 1 clear for the whole event! So, what are you talking about ?!?!?! If he did all the other subs perfectly he would probably be even in top20 without problems.

And this is just one particular example, then we can consider, why does he deserve to have the same rewards as somebody who started to put the effort from the beginning, why should he?

This format benefits NOBODY as is right now, NOBODY, some people think that it gives more freedom when playing casually, but that is not true, it looks like that, but you can get the exact same results in the old system playing exactly the same way. What this format does is punish a lot people that try to play for top50, and everybody with 3->4 or better teams. Also makes much harder the easy nodes without upgrading their rewards (or even revisiting the enemy teams in those nodes, that were designed to have a much lower scaling), and most of the players need to play ALL nodes just with their very best teams.

And I agree that If they fixed all the other problems and the number of clears needed, having the option to play whenever you want is very good, and it is the only good idea that came of this new format, but not as things are right now, the old format is 1000 better. They need to change completely PvE and move to a different type of PvE, much more focused in progression than placement.
