Not necessarily. I spend about a half hour on it at the beginning of each PVP and that seems to do it.
But adam is starting from nothing at all, not having done regular MMR maintenance. It will take him a while to see a positive effect, whichever combo of methods he uses.0 -
Yeah, I don't know why I didn't use the loaner hood instead of my real one. At that point of the night I was falling asleep mid-match so I wasn't really thinking well. I'll try some of the "active tanking" soon.
Thanks for the tips0 -

The half hour has taken me from 141s to nonmaxed 2*s. If you're actively suiciding teams, you can lower your mmr surprisingly quickly.0 -

That's not my experience. Whenever I don't tank with regularity, it's much more time consuming at first when I do it again. That was the case as recently as yesterday, when I started working on it again after neglecting in for the second half of S2. I think you're under estimating just how high unmanaged MMR can get. Or the game hates me. Or I suck at tanking. Am I just bad at losing?
I hope adam sees the kind of results you get, but I don't want him to get discouraged if it takes him a while to see results, that's all.0 -

I'm superstitious about tanking. I think the game knows when you're just messing around and it has algorithms and safeguards to prevent messing with your MMR too deliberately... So my superstitions include:Mixing three-stars and one-stars in the tank team
Firing off an ability at least once
Making sure the AI team takes damage or loses a single character
Pepsi and Cheetos
I can't say whether these work or not, and it does slow down the tanking, but I'm happy with my results. I surmise it makes the MMR-gods BELIEVE you were actually trying.0 -
For me, I can say that yesterday I sacrificed my bottom 12 characters. I then saw my PVP opponents at or below 85. Guess my MMR isnt too high. I will do this every day, but I dont think I can do a 45 min session of it. Finding fights for more points (like 40) and then losing on purpose to minimize point loss.0

So, ummm.... Yeah! I just got screwed out of covers, me thinks for this PvP.
I know I said, I had intention of going for the 1100 point yellow cover...
So, I go ahead and whip out the old beat down stick and hit a node in PvP. YAY! 25 points... 498th? really, hmmm... interesting. Let's look at the leaderboard.
10th plave 951, 1st place 1167...
Okay, good thing there are 22 hours left in this PvP and I have a healthy supply of HP from recent PvE subs and the such...
So, how badly do I REALLY want those storm covers (top 10)?
The alliance will get my contribution, which will hopefully be more than 1000 points (ideally more than 1100), but, there are limits to the unreasonable... Come on MPQ? What have I done to deserve such a **** bracket?!0 -

I think you've answered your own question though - because you don't do it regularly, you have more work to make up when you do. I tank before every PVP now and it doesn't take much to lower my mmr back to more or less where it should be. And that saves me a lot of hit for 40 point random attacks, which is the main reason I tank anyway. It's less about who I see than who sees me.0 -
I just tanked 17 battles, the bottom 34 of my roster. Still hitting all 141s. I guess I have a lot of super high MMR to make up for...0

I've read all of your thoughts and feeling about taking it easier for Season 3 and I think most of us are fine with that. I myself don't mind taking a breather. I already have a feeling though some of us after taking it easy for a week or two will have the addictive itch to play again though -lol-. Ya we may not get Nick Fury for season 3 which is still a useless character for now anyways unless you buy HP to max him out and we may not get 100 for all the pvp events like we have been doing. But I have a feeling even with alot of us cutting back and playing casually we can still probably make top 100 in most of these pvp events. I think if all of us could average 500 points in pvp and then with some of us scoring 800-1100 cause they want to get top 50 or top 10 for the covers then we could still make top 100. But ya well see how things go as the weeks go by after we've had a chance to relax ^^. Whats important to me also is we stay together as a family and have fun and I have to say I am proud of all of us and what we have accomplished already so far in Season 1 and Season 2. So ya if we don't get all the rewards from reaching top 100 I am fine with it ^^. As long as were having fun and happy thats all that matters to me.0

So ... taking it easy this season. Raise your hand if you have shield hopped today?

Yeah I'm doing a bad job of taking it easy this PvP but I really need that green storm cover!0

Sorry for chiming in late on season 3. It's been a busy week that has kept me in front of my work PC and not one of my personal PCs and I don't access these forums from the office nor am I willing to type out a long paragraph on my phone. I'm likely to play the same amount regardless of the group's decision. I'm enjoying the game still and want to finally work my way up to some 141 leveled characters. If the team takes it easy on some of the PvE and/or PvP events and we don't get in the top 100 then so be it. If we don't finish the season in the top 100 then I'm cool with that as well. This bear will neither complain nor lose sleep over it. What I will continue to do is make sure that if we don't get a cover that someone really wants it's won't be due to me!

SUPER GUILTY!!
But in my own defense... "The Hood"! Of the original characters, he is the only one I did not have covered out. I have not seen his covers given out in a long time, sin ce he was available in LRs only, and I never managed to secure more than maybe 1 or 2 in LRs at the time. I am not good at getting into and grinding those for an hour...
I really wanted the Yellow HOOD cover. I can finally say I have finished covering him 5-5-3. Plus, an 1100+ point contribution to the alliance cover (Morroro Black).
It won't happen often that I shield hop that much, actually haven't done it in a long time... Today, however, I feel the end result 4? covers... 3 Storm and 1 Hood was worth the *cough* 800 HP...
PvE sub events lately have been generous for top 50 and 1 time a top 10 recently. That was 100 ~ 150 HP a day... I was saving those up for exactly this shield hop madness... And the rewards returned for top5/10 in HP as well as top 50/100 in alliance... The hit - overall, is not soo bad...
+1 to the post above from RWTD... You know, you will always get (maybe during relaxed period less of) my best effort to secure alliance covers and top 100.0 -
An update for all the sunder bug fanatics of CBS: http://www.d3pforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8873&start=20#p168199
I expect that'll take a couple more weeks to get to us.0 -
The 10 minute craziness is about to commence... This is going to be a bloodbath and a half!!0
-
I THINK I've got top 10 locked down, but trying to decide if I should push one more battle to attempt to get into the top 5, or if that would be too risky...0
-
Looks like they changed up rewards a bit for PvP events. 900 is now another recruit token, I like this. Also they added more tiers for alliance rewards and higher ranking awards much more ISO.0
