  • Wow, new reward structure and Spidey covers - It must be my lucky PvP icon_razz.gif

I actually lack spidey covers. Not that I'll EVER use him but the completionist in me wants them none the less.

    Quick guide to tanking:
    - Score 200-300 points early on.
    - Win the last match with the weakest team possible.
(For example I beat MoStorm23/Wolvie80/LDaken76 with MoStorm23/Sentry41/LDaken56 - now this is the team that people will see when they find me.)
    - Stop playing PvP and wait for people to hit you.
    - Start playing again after a day or so and your MMR should be in line with all those people that beat your tank team (or lower).

Shall the alliance still be managed? Yes. It's more important than ever to have a team that communicates with each other. I know some of you still don't communicate with us (other than an occasional "hi" in the chat). That's not gonna work. You know who you are. We know who you are. We'll need to open slots up for new Bears who want to hibernate here too.

So let's talk. Reply. Hit the PM button. Make me clarify. Stare.

I'm guilty of this. I'm confused though. What communication are you looking for? Posting and chattering just for chat doesn't make sense to me.

When it was first asked about tournaments, I stated I'd play it the same way whichever way the alliance voted on individual tournaments. That position hasn't changed for me.

PMs work both ways. If you have a discussion that I missed and I said should vote or say something, hit the PM like Kamu did icon_e_smile.gif.

I guess I'm fuzzy on what exactly are you asking for here.
  • After three days of tanking I'm finally starting to see opponents other than full 141s!

I guess I'm fuzzy on what exactly are you asking for here.

I'm reminded of the early days of the this alliance. It was a mostly random group and while we could see names, we couldn't see individual scores or in-game chat. Some people were communicating on the forum and some were not. We saw our aggregate score for an event, but that was it. Forumites would share their progress or they wouldn't.

Back then, I didn't exactly know what kind of player you all were. I could see your rosters. And I could see your rosters change (did you level a character? Did you pick up the alliance cover?). A lot of teams were spreadsheeting to see if their members were "active". It was an imperfect science, but at least we could tell if someone stopped playing or if you were a hard-charging player.

No one here is being accused of being inactive. I repeat. No one here is being accused of being inactive.

Our scores are in good shape and the team is doing well. And there's plenty of chittering and chattering already going on. So good.

So I don't think I'm asking about financial advice, dating tips, or recipes (unless you got 'em), but possible examples:
Let us know if you REALLY want the alliance award
If you're going to be away from the game for a while (or use the vacation calendar)
If you forgot an event was ending
If you're mad about something going on in the game
If you're happy about something going on in the game
If you're gonna skip an event (why? oh why?)
Encourage your team for a job well done
Chastise your team for a lousy job
If your scores in an event were particularly high or low
If you're waiting for the last moment to enter an event

Otherwise, all we can see is your scores and your event participation. Which is fine. But if it looks unusual, then we'll start speculating. Right now, one of us is skipping the PVE (IM40 rewards, amiright?). We're doing OK still. But unless we hear from him, we might think he's gonna skip all the PVEs going forward. What if life gets busy and you only score 40 points in PVP. We'll wonder has something happened? What if you score 1300 in PVP? Should we expect that from now on? I guess the point is that I don't want to base your personality on your scores alone. (P.S. none of these examples is you, Mischief)

I appreciate you jumping on the horn and sharing with the group. Stare on, bud.

OK. I guess I've got to be the one to ask (why am I always the one...). @DD I've noticed your scores in the PVPs have been very high lately. Are you cheating?

This is an outrage! I have never, ever had anyone accuse my scores of being very high! icon_redface.gif

I know you are trying to be funny (at least I hope so icon_e_confused.gif ), but on this forum, we really shouldn't say things like that. People might take it the wrong way and next thing you know there's an entire viral thread stickied to the main page. icon_eek.gificon_e_biggrin.gificon_lol.gif

Bad Joke? That thread was so long. I was only able get through 14 pages of it. Have to go back later and read the rest.

Yes, bad joke. ~wags finger at user~ icon_lol.gif

The threads only really worth it if you go back for the meme's. Twysta made several hilarious ones!
  • HI DD and Kamu!! I see you lurking at the bottom of the page. HA HA HA. Good Morning!
  • So my tanking has done wonders for my levels in PVP.

But apparently, even the team I chose to tank with is strong. I have had about 20 hits for lost points since last night, and about 8 defensive wins and I am UP by 91 points. . . icon_neutral.gif

I think I found a new way to play PVP. HA HA HA

Ok this makes much more sense to me and thanks for clarifying. I'll address the examples you gave as relevant to me or I feel like making a comment icon_e_smile.gif.

I do try to let the folks know when I'm out like I was back in April. I'll be out sometime in August and was going to let people know about a week or so in advance. I wouldn't remember if someone told me they were gone ahead of time. What vacation calendar?

I don't try to skip any events. I always try to make some effort in there BUT given all of the events that seem to happen simultaneously I think I miss some or they surprise me when they end early.

I probably wouldn't feel comfortable saying I want any particular cover right now (maybe ever). I don't want to push anyone else into chasing covers for me. On the flipside, I have absolutely NO problem if the alliance told me that someone wanted a cover. I'd focus my attention at that (see the above comment about too many events). Right now, I just feel like I try my best in all of the events and figure it'll all even out in the end.

One thing I don't especially like is the way the chat system is implemented. I'm not saying that's the sole reason I chat infrequently but I'm wondering if anyone else has a better way of doing it. So I'm running it through Steam (PC). When I get into the game, if I chat, I wind up sitting in the chat window since if I'm playing it isn't really obvious for me to go back in to see the responses, etc. It feels like I'm either there to chat OR that chat is an interruption into the game. It doesn't feel as "parallel" as the Steam game/chat system but then again Steam isn't a group chat either. Not sure I have a better solution but it feels "half baked" right now to me.
  • @Mischief: this calendar: http://teamup.com/ksf1c4d6d833b45d53/, which DD also added to the first post of the thread. It's a central point for people to make their travel/vacation/life announcements without getting lost in the volume of the chat/forum thread.

With DD's permission, I am working on a better communication medium for us. If it works as planned, it will be a much better way for us to chat/communicate. Especially for you since you are on PC.

Thanks! It didn't occur to me to check the first post. I'm always trying to check the LAST posts icon_e_smile.gif.

Anyway....is there any reason that we don't use that calendar for events either? ie, Alliance focuses on this event or Alliance relaxing this week, etc?

For many of us being able to take breaks from the game and have a chat is the reason that this game is still enjoyable. It seems to me that you don't share this opinion if you're calling it an interruption.

I have a steam account as my "experimentation account" (although, I haven't touched it in weeks), and the chat in Steam is even worse than on mobile. It takes forever to load and is slow. I think that is what he meant.

I either chat or I'm playing. There doesn't seem to be a good way to do both at the same time or watch both which is what I mean by interruption. I can't flip a screen and watch chat. I have to exit the event then go the chat window to read, then exit that to play, etc.

ETA: Interruption is probably a poor word choice, it doesn't flow well might be better? It'd be nice to see a chat icon within the game/event itself.
