  • I have a few minuts to chime in and say: "HA HA HA"!

    Spiderman rewards for Category 5!

I bet everyone who sold their Spiderman after the nerf is kicking themselves right now.

Let this lesson be learnt! They did the same thing when they nerfed Rag, Thor and Wolverine. Pull a fetaured PvP with them in it.

@DD Hope you still have yours, going to be time to dust him off...

Gratz to everyone on the AWESOME performance in this latest round of complete craziness!

I know the Covers were coveted. I am going to take it easy in this one... I dont "really need" Spiderman covers. Although, the general concensus is Blue = useless and purple = best ability, I rather like my 5-5-3 Spiderman.

As usual, you will my contribution towards alliance rewards. But, it will be a welcome "break" from the super grind. I really dont see myself trying to get 1100 points for a Green Cover... If it does happen to get there (or close) maybe I will put in the extra effort, but be forewarned, I am not intending on doing so. 800 or more should be adequate.

Unless there are those who "really want" those extra Spider covers for what should turn out to be an "interesting PvP" to say the least.

    Stare on!

Looks like they changed up rewards a bit for PvP events. 900 is now another recruit token, I like this. Also they added more tiers for alliance rewards and higher ranking awards much more ISO.

Yeah, rewards look good. You can get a 3* cover in top 100, 2 if you stay in top 25. Also progression rewards are not completely useless after the event token. Having that 2* cover at 600 became just ridiculous and all the HP at 900 could be a bit hard to get. Now there's not a lot of reason to get at least 600 points for the two 25 HP rewards.

I'm really liking the slightly more liberal progression HP rewards. That's a very welcome change that should help the middle-of-the-road players afford shields/roster spots more easily.

@sup123, can you see me in the results of our bracket? Did I manage to stay in the top 10?

ETA: It's really an advantage to collect the HP during the progression as opposed to at the end, because that HP is available to buy a shield for the ongoing tournament.

I've read all of your thoughts and feeling about taking it easier for Season 3 and I think most of us are fine with that. I myself don't mind taking a breather. I already have a feeling though some of us after taking it easy for a week or two will have the addictive itch to play again though -lol-. Ya we may not get Nick Fury for season 3 which is still a useless character for now anyways unless you buy HP to max him out and we may not get 100 for all the pvp events like we have been doing. But I have a feeling even with alot of us cutting back and playing casually we can still probably make top 100 in most of these pvp events. I think if all of us could average 500 points in pvp and then with some of us scoring 800-1100 cause they want to get top 50 or top 10 for the covers then we could still make top 100. But ya well see how things go as the weeks go by after we've had a chance to relax ^^. Whats important to me also is we stay together as a family and have fun and I have to say I am proud of all of us and what we have accomplished already so far in Season 1 and Season 2. So ya if we don't get all the rewards from reaching top 100 I am fine with it ^^. As long as were having fun and happy thats all that matters to me.

I agree, and if there any cover many of want to go for, we can all pitch in abit more to make sure we get the alliance cover icon_e_smile.gif

Yep, finished #6 with 917 points. Nice job!
  • Thanks for checking! I can't access the game at work. I'm pleasantly surprised I only slipped down two places after shielding very shortly after the 3-hour-left mark. I expected a mad point inflation in the last few hours of the tournament.

That's not my experience. Whenever I don't tank with regularity, it's much more time consuming at first when I do it again. That was the case as recently as yesterday, when I started working on it again after neglecting in for the second half of S2. I think you're under estimating just how high unmanaged MMR can get. Or the game hates me. Or I suck at tanking. Am I just bad at losing? icon_e_confused.gif

I hope adam sees the kind of results you get, but I don't want him to get discouraged if it takes him a while to see results, that's all.

I'm superstitious about tanking. I think the game knows when you're just messing around and it has algorithms and safeguards to prevent messing with your MMR too deliberately... So my superstitions include:
Mixing three-stars and one-stars in the tank team
Firing off an ability at least once
Making sure the AI team takes damage or loses a single character
    Pepsi and Cheetos

I can't say whether these work or not, and it does slow down the tanking, but I'm happy with my results. I surmise it makes the MMR-gods BELIEVE you were actually trying.

So how exactly do you guys tank? I did a little research and understand that its basically knocking down your mmr to get easier opponents and brackets right? As you guys mention I know there are methods like decreasing your points by retreating/losing with bench teams, or just put up bench team to have plp beat them up. But is there a limit to how far you need to let your points drop? and how much points you need to rack up before you tank?

I don't know if what I do can be classify as tanking or not, but every pvp I always wait for about an hour and get 150-200 points for the day, and then get another 150-200 points the 2nd day, then get through as many 30+ points opponents as possible an hour or two before event end.
  • NICE JOB EVERYONE!

For "taking it easy", we placed 32 in Alliance Ranking. LOL.

Grats on 6th place! I actually forgot that the pvp was ending at 12pm EST, good thing when I realize it I still got an hour left and got about 500 points in that hour. Ended up 15th, so close from top 10 though XP

  • @sgan121, I'm going to forward you the tanking strategy PM Tonzil had sent around to alliance members. It was before you joined. Should answer most of your questions.

That was after a complete Fiasco a little while back.

    The PVE Simulator event.

Both starting nodes were at 395 x 3 and every single node in PvE was at 3 x 395... Tanked a lot for a few days and managed top 10, if memory serves well...

We are less burnt out than most because CareBears are awesome! (That's my story and I'm sticking to it. These are not the shield hops you are looking for.)

  • Well, next event is giving nerfed Spidey covers, so seems like a great time to just chill. icon_razz.gif

Yeah, I'm tanking this entire PVP. I currently have just over 100 pts, my goal is to lose it down to 1. LOL. Maybe then I can get some reasonable opponents in PVP.

Did you get the link I sent you?

So my strategy of not playing last night and just waking up early to play paid off. I was able to get up to 900 (from 300). I'll have to see what time this new event ends. No intention of doing well but will just have to see. I'm still trying to experiment with my lineups.
