  • No luck on Psylocke in the token pulls, but I hope to win at least two covers from the end of tonight's tournament. That should let me raise her to the 40's. Not a great level normally, but she is going to be monstrous while buffed.

Looks like entering late and clearing two refreshes is enough to make the top ten. Someone in my bracket wants #1 more than me and I have no plans to grind it out.

    Holy RNG gods, Batman!

I had five standard token saved from the recent subs, and netted 3 ISO 8 tokens for a top five and top ten finish.

    The standards got me:

M Mags Purple, Hulk Black, OBW Purple, Jugs Green and M Storm Green.

I can only use the Hulk, but still - one 3* and two 2* covers from five standards is waaaaay better than my normal haul.

    The ISO 8s got me:

C Storm Green, C Storm Blue, DD Purple

And ok, so DD is the least exciting 3* for me, but I can use that cover!

I can't remember the last time I got a useable cover from 40 tokens, never mind two from 8.

    Happy Sundays!

    EDIT:

Holy Respec Batman! Those M Mags Purple and C Storm Blue covers are going to good use when R48 hits.... icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I guess I'm lucky in pulling a seemingly high % of 3* from my tokens but I've gotten 3 Punishers and 1 Psylocke so far.

Unlucky however that I could have probably built at least 3 full Punishers by now and could actually use DD since I took a week off when they were giving out DDs.

Aww yeah, not every opponent is lvl 230 anymore, as I was affraid of before opening the sub missions. In some of the Dark Avengers missions I am pitted against lvl 229s. Whoohoo. Now that I don't have to battle against teams of maxed villains anymore I am finally motivated again to finish top 10 in the sub events, so I can pull **** Caps and M Now Mags only.

    Whoopdee-tinykitty-doo.

I expect a lot of people will die to India-1 as they have to get past it to fight India-2 & 3 so that mission should drop below 200 hopefully. I wonder whether the messed-up scaling system also reduces the level of optional fights that people avoid fighting, or whether they remain high because the only people who fight them are the people who are sure they can beat them.
  • 7 more days of this cr@p!!?

I thought d3 said they didn't want the game to be a grind. It's just not as fun as it once was for me.

That's a good question. I for one will start avoiding missions, or perhaps start losing ones to try to get the levels down a bit. Winning is not that hard, but the rewards are shite (edit: it says poop there, but even that word is apparently changed to a little cat) (the last time I pulled a useful character from a ** token was during The Hulk event) and playing these missions feels a lot more like work than it should feel. And I play this game to avoid work. Let's hope next patch will fix this bugged scaling.

I don't see where people are getting this "it's a grind" from. I'm only playing one mission when they open, both before I go to bed, and both around 2PM. Just got me two top 5's.

This is way better than The simulation grindfest

Same old tedious Dark Avengers teams across every single story event. Instead if giving us more heroes, howabout expanding the villain roster a bit? The new ISO-8 mutants have helped slightly but they're really just faceless AP generators like the HAMMER and Maggia goons.

The Simulator may have been grindtastic but at least the battles were interesting. So bored of Rags, Venom, Daken et al, especially when they're stupidly high level because of this broken scaling.

    Severely beginning to lose interest.

My rewards have been good. I've gotten 5 tokens via rewards, landing C Storm, C America, Daredevil and two Psylockes. I also got a yellow Patch from a standard token.
  • Just realized that I'm going out of town next weekend and can't play friday-sunday

Same feelings here. got top5 first subs, top10 second, now I see one even the entry fight at 200.

It was quite a grind this far, and used up most of the interest. guess some serious cut-back is in order.

Yeah, I don't get it either. In The Hulk, I probably had to play 40+ missions a day to stay in the top 10. Now, I play twice a day...once to get through all of the missions once, and then again right before the sub-event closes and cherry pick the high point ones. Still in the top 10. It's wayyyyyy less of a grind now...instead of 40 stupid-easy missions every day, it's 15ish medium-hard missions a day.
  • It only takes about 10 missions on the high end of points to finish top 10. It's literally impossible to grind in this event because you'd accidentally hit #1 and then you should stop. Since everything is level 230 anyway you might as well start with the highest point value ones. Or are there people who are grinding the first mission down to 1 over and over and thought that's somehow going to let them keep up with the guys who can do the 230X3s?

Darn; death by levelling has struck - my choices are:

    1. Max level Ares + Ragnorak + green generating hench for collective health over 30k.
    2. Max level Daken (2 x 80s strike tiles) + Bullseye (uncapped 80s protect tiles) + Moonstone (laser death ray).

Since I'm turning off anyway, did my part and got my best squad stomped by each of them - that ought to be 0.01% towards lowering their levels by 1. icon_rolleyes.gif

I think I shall follow the defeat screen's advice and come up with a new tactic; work an hours overtime and just buy a 10 pack with guaranteed Black Panther next week, then hope the PvE is better. icon_lol.gif / icon_cry.gif
  • I've hardly noticed any level 230s. This coming from someone who saw wall to wall 230s in the past few events, who finished high enough to get 3 psylocke covers in the previous event, who can never be bothered intentionally tanking characters to reduce levels, and who has been in the top 10 or top 20 of his brackets most of the time so far. I must have found a magic bracket. The only time I used Spidey so far in this event was a couple of times to heal up so I didn't need to use health packs, otherwise it has been all Magneto-C. Storm-Punisher except where the mission requires a different character.

It does feel a bit grindier to me if I'm going to have a shot at staying top 10 in my overall bracket, but that might just be the luck of having a handful of harder-grinding people in there compared to last time when it was really only the top 2 in my bracket getting ludicrous grind-every-mission-to-1-every-reset scores, whereas this time there's more.
  • Still not seeing any 230's. I'm actually having more problems in the 1 star tournament. icon_lol.gif

I wasn't seeing them, but then this afternoon I was listening to Liverpool vs Swansea (football/soccer depending where folks are in the world) and playing MPQ because listening is pretty frustrating compared to watching.

It was a dramatic 4 3 scoreline in the end, so I needed a lot of matches to distract me! icon_e_biggrin.gif

Sadly it looks like this means I'm out this event for the duration as a result, unless the levels drop over-time - I'm thinking that won't be the case... icon_e_sad.gif

P.S. Don't ever 100% complete all the missions; still finish top 50 anyway because, all the feeble points do is boost everyone else's rubber bands.
