For people having trouble with the final node, a recommendation:

Save up for Ant Man's blue, put it into action about 2 turns before you plan to kill the first wave, if not later.

If you do it right, he should stick around just long enough to steal any smoke bomb/daken tiles AND the sentry sacrifice tile as well (I've noticed he uses it about turn 3).
Also his pink isn't bad to keep on, since it does make 3 tiles and that damage adds up after a while.

He isn't the greatest, however I found a lot of success abusing how potent his powers were, even with how low of level he is.

Hi - could someone explain to me why this is a 6 day event?

I completed all the nodes and received Ant-Man cover in 4 hours.

    So why 6 days?

To give people time to fit it into their schedule. Some will take numerous tries for the wave missions, and depending on the PVE/PVP schedules they're on, it might take a while for them to get to it.

some will also try and farm the hp. I'd love to, but playing the shorter pves, so i'll be letting that go unless I find myself making clears with plenty of health packs and time left. that hasn't happened yet.

Having the worst luck ever. I can't even get the 2nd wave in Inner Space Cadet half the time now. Somehow the computer gets either purpleflag.png or blackflag.png to Whales or Sonic Boom/whatever Yelena's black is to change 2 specials to crits. It's good to know out leveling the computer by 30 levels somehow doesn't and they hit everything and drained 9 health packs in 10 minutes.

So you can complete it at your leisure. Last run was 30 days...

Pfff, I'm about to give up on this as well. The last node is just too brutal, I've tried it numerous times with different setups, but most of the time I can't even get past wave 1. It's scaled at 'level range 130-131'. That means in the first wave caltrops deal almost 600 team damage, Daken gets 1k+ damage for 5 blue, and oh, if you can't get rid of that green countdown it's 1800 team damage for you.

/edit: to put it into perspective, i have a few 3*'s that are level 153. Cmags (5/5/2, but he's squishy and competes for yellow & blue with antman), punisher (5/4/4, usable but somewat weak), hulk (5/2/5, tanks well but not really useful power wise), gsbw (too slow, too squishy).

I pushed it to wave 4 one time on luck and aggressiveness with my 5/0/3 patch and (iirc) Hulk

Mine is scaled to level 198, and the caltrops hit for 1k per, meaning I've yet to find a team where I can beat the first wave (or even kill a single goon) before Ant-Man dies to Caltrops.

I keep getting wrecked at the final node. Any recommendations for getting past Doc Ock & the sentry-fighter? Who to focus first, how to cope with Manipulation when so much of the board is gonna have special tiles?

My 3-star Steve only has 1/1/1 so I don't think I'll be able to use him.

The only usable 4-star I have is X-Force, my strongest 3-stars are Hood, Classic Magneto, Panther, and Punisher. Punisher is nice since I have all 6 colors spendable, but his green usually wipes out a bunch of my own special tiles.

I understand that these missions are supposed to be more difficult than average, since there's a guaranteed 4-star cover on the line, but getting killed within the first 2 waves using a team I'm really comfortable & confident with is frustrating enough for me to just stop trying. Especially when partial clears on wave missions don't give partial points.

Well, I finally got it. With a favourable board and strategic play.

Team: level 94 OBW (3/5/5), level 114 Ragnarok (5/3/0), and the loaner Antman
    Boost: +2 purpletile.png / bluetile.png
Teamups: Call the Storm (3* Thor variant), Control Shift (Moonstone) (not used)

Wave 1 went okay, I was able to gather enough AP for some steals and some healing, and also got antman's blue going. Didn't hit too many caltrops, and Daken didn't get enough bluetile.png to fire his chemical reaction more than once.

Wave 2, I was able to steal Sentry's sacrifice strike tile of strength ~500, that I was able to keep on the board for the entire rest of the match. He didn't have enough redtile.png for a supernova, and I was able to down him right before his world rupture would pop. The brawler and empiricist weren't too much trouble to deal with when there was no NPC to make matches anymore.

Entered wave 3 with OBW at ~200 health left, and she died because I was forced to make a match in her color before I could heal her. By then I had 30 greentile.png though, enough to fire Rag's godlike power twice (Antman and Rags still had enough HP to deal with that) and get rid of the annoying sentry fighter. The lieutentant and doc oc were almost dead too, and died one or two turns later.

By now I was doing a *lot* of damage because of the strike tiles, and I could also keep Ants! Ants! Ants! out for damage each turn, and had some attack tiles as well.

So in wave 4, after downing Bullseye after a few turns, I allowed the muscle to successfully drop some more strike tiles on the board that I could steal for great justice with antsy's blue power. Took care to finish the wave with a power to get first strike on wave 5 and...

I started wave 5 by firing my Call the storm team up and Rag's red power to get rid of most of Gorgon's health, enough so I could finish him with a calculated 3-cascade. The goons were dealt with by making some matches while preserving the strike tiles.

I thought I'd throw my experience with this node out here, hopefully someone else will find it useful.

3* Steve Rogers (Super Soldier). So called because he's the (L)azy developed version of 2* Captain America.

I couldn't make 2-star Storm + 2-star Magneto work, the AP costs are just too high to be quick off the draw.

OBW turned out to be the key after all; burst healing was invaluable and stealing AP was the key to beating Doc Ock. The tricky part was finding a chance to use her heal, since countdowns appeared nearly every turn with goons.

I ended up taking Classic Magneto for my 3rd. He's not fully covered yet, but his teamup-tile nuke is maxed, and so is his Protect ability, so he was able to overwrite a lot of enemy countdowns. Final wave turned out to be the easiest.

Totally stuck on the last node as well.

It doesn't matter what I use, because the AI is basically not giving me any useful matches. Oh for this match? Only purples so your loaner Ant-Man dies. Can't match greens to destroy the flamethrower. Oh for this match, things are going good, until I Ballistics Barrage once you've taken control.

    Try again tomorrow I guess.

I just got to the 5th wave before finally losing, and I finally understand how to handle this node.

The key seems to be controlling the board, which is obvious, but also something that didn't really click until I accidentally discovered it.

I was using Surfer, Patch, and loaner Ant-Man. Basically used Ant-Man to get purpleflag.png to use Pym Particles, and used Surfer get blueflag.png to almost IMMEDIATELY start using Small Time Crooks and try and steam roll the opponent. Unfortunately, it wasn't completely smooth, and couldn't time things well enough to use Patch to finish a wave with a special, so I get to try and KO the normal character (not the thugs) to prevent them from matching. I died on 5 without anybody else alive and without any Team-Ups either, but it was a great learning experience, and I'm going to try and do it again.

    I beat node 5.

Get yellowflag.pngblueflag.pngpurpleflag.png as fast as possible, and then fire up ANTS! and Pym Particles. When the first wave is about to end, activate Small Time Crooks, and things will steam roll. I was using Patch, so I added his strike tiles. This means all a player has to do is to KO the last guy with a special (or tank the incoming attack), all of your countdowns will tick off, doing lots of damage, and within 2 turns, a player KOs that wave and goes into the next wave. I only had to Small Time Crooks twice, and the entire node fight took only like 15 turns overall.

For the first wave, I targetted Kishu first, because his powers are all super annoying to deal with, even with my setup. So he dies, hopefully destroy a Flamethrower tile, KO Daken (to remove their matching ability), and then get the Pyro. Try to KO her with a power, because Sentry could immediately come with with a Sacrifice + Supernova to ruin your day (he didn't have enough to fire Supernova, so I just tanked his normal hit, and then stole Sacrifice). Doc Ock didn't have enough blue to Manipulate, so he was cake, and I just steam rolled the entire thing in like 15 turns, using 4 or 5 for the 1st wave, but all other waves took only 2 turns each. All of my attack tiles were doing like 2000-2500 total on average, so every match was more.

My team was 140 Patch (, 255 Silver Surfer (only black cover, not useful for this node), and loaner 70 Ant-Man.

    Overview:

Wave 1 (takes about 5-6 turns)
    Focus on Kishu
    Get blueflag.pngpurpleflag.pngyellowflag.png
    Use ANTS! and Pym Particles
Use Small Time Crooks near end of wave to steal their special tiles.
Try to KO the last thug with a power.

    All other waves
Try to get more blueflag.pngpurpleflag.pngyellowflag.png to fuel Ant-Man powers. Mostly blueflag.png though. Match your own special blues if needed including Small Time Crooks when only 1 left on countdown.
Use Small Time Crooks when needed to keep stealing.
    Just match or use powers.
Try to KO the last thug with a power.

I finally, finally, emphasis on finally did it with LCap (147 though with all covers) and OBW with the loner Antman vs. 189 opponents. Did lose Cap to a nasty threaten but that was why I brought a saved Deadpool team up and was able to push the whale button for the win before Gorgon wiped me.
  • OK because I struggled so much on the first survival node I'm going to share my strategy for anyone who (like me) has a roster of 2* and undercovered 3* characters. Here we go...

    Team: OBW, Storm, MNMagento

    Boosts: +2 purpletile.pngbluetile.png , +2 redtile.pngyellowtile.png

(you can use a team up or anything you like in third slot - personally I used a Sentinel of Liberty TU)

OK For the first wave, collect Blue quick as you can and if no blue then purple and steal like crazy. For now don't use Mags purple to accelerate CStorm Blue, it's more important to deny AP to the first few waves. Fire off Storm bluetile.png and stun the most deadly (I left BW and Yelena free to match) then collect and match damage the other two until you can save up for Mags red and use that to down one. repeat on second un-stunned opponent. Match damage to death the final opponent.

For the second wave you should have enough bluetile.png to use 2 wind storms and stun 2 of them, then fire off greentile.png to collect more AP and down the un-stunned 3rd character with Mags redtile.png

Repeat the same trick for wave 3.

By wave 4 OBW will probably be dead so now you want to use all that purpletile.png to use Mags purpletile.png and collect bluetile.png for storm and then wind storm them to death.

It DOES require a bit of board luck and a lot of planning but it is doable...just, with a 2* roster.

I need to warmly thank you for posting this strategy. That made it for me (even I must admit I had lot of luck during the 3rd wave)

The last node was absolutely **********. I have a weak **** 2 color ant man who ended up not cutting the mustard. I ended up winning mine using the ant man they give you, plus 166 captain marvel and 166 karma karma kamala kahn.

Beat the last node after 8+ tries with loaner antman, undercovered KK (3/3/0), undercovered torch (5/4/0) with stockpile+1 to all AP *2, powerboost + 40% match damage to all, and GSBW Pistol teamup.

I tried to bring undercovered LCap (1/3/2) a few times, but he's just too slow. Torch's red makes good damage at a very cheap cost and his black can deal with traps.
