  • Bobby + Wanda anyone? She fuels his purple pretty fast and her arcane incantation popping up after makes match 4/5 more often, so punching snowmen left and right.

Excellent addition to the 4* tier.
We needed a character with stun but offensive capabilities and now we have it.

The 4 turn stun strikes me as possible overkill but it's theoretically balanced out by the CD tile preventing too much spam. Still, the blue could be pushing it a little too much with stun locking but we'll see. The damage component is perfectly fine for a 12 AP skill especially compared to Fury's blue. No issues with that.

His green is potentially VERY powerful but I'm inclined to call it well designed. It might push the limits a bit when he's boosted but it's not entirely fair to judge a character around their boosted stats.

His purple is exactly what you'd expect out of a skill like that in terms of cost and effect. I'm not crazy about it but I'm glad it wasn't needlessly pushed.

    Overall:
I think Ice Man has real potential to be a top tier 4* character along the lines of Jean. I can see him being used regularly for his stun and then as a finisher in the late game. He'll also be annoying on defense since misplaying his blue will still provide a strong effect regardless.

I view him as a support damage dealer over anything else and fully intend to run him with HB. The fact that he converts red isn't a big deal since HB doesn't need to match red to be great.

Note: I wasn't crazy about Jean initially having considered her to be an average or slightly above average character but she's proven to be quite excellent with hands on play. Ice Man and Jean will probably rank in the top 5 characters in the 4* tier.

Does drain mean destroy or steal?

    Destroy.

That blue is pretty nuts. 6 AP for either 4 turn stun or almost 8000 damage. That green could pack a punch too.

Definitely agree with 553 on him. Has the potential to be one of the best 4*s out there.

(Build a Snowman) Bobby stuns the target for 2 turns and places a 4-turn Countdown tile. While this tile is on the board, this power becomes Punch a Snowman
(Punch a Snowman) Iceman deals 457 damage. Destroys all of Iceman's Countdown tiles.

Semantic question... shouldn't the latter sentence be "Destroys Iceman's Countdown tile"? (As the one countdown tile from 1st activation of blue is destroyed upon the 2nd activation, I'm not sure how there could be multiple countdowns onscreen at once)
  • Maybe he destroys enemie's iceman CD tile too in mirror matches? Leaves you open to a second 4 turn stun but avoids 8k damage.

No, because it's possible (but unlikely) to have more than one of his tiles on the board at once because of Locked tiles. If you Lock a snowman tile, Bobby goes back to building snowmen. So if you were in a situation where you built one, locked it, built another, then unlocked the first, the Punch would pop both tiles.

Sooo what you are saying is, expect upcoming new characters to have fun-new locked abilities?

Could this also happen with Luke Cage's black? Double punching in the face? icon_mrgreen.gif

When are we gonna get his preview stuff, like in-game appearance?

Still going through final legal approvals (yay legal processes). Soon (tm).
  • I might be alone here but I'd really really like to see the version where ice shards are protruding from him. While I like the original look, he's too similar to Silver Surfer.

This version is the All New X-Men, so younger Bobby, not oldster spiky Drake.

Ahh that's a bummer, honestly. I was really looking forward to a Human Torch style art treatment to better differentiate from Silver Surfer. I mean they both "surf" and the only major difference is silver vs white. Unless you're going for not fully ice form which would be even more disappointing.

This guy looks really strong. I'm surprised that he can be this well-balanced and useful compared to Mr. Terrible who is just a complete botch job in design. How can the same development team create both characters simultaneously with such widely different results? I'm going crazy hard for this guy in his release PvP.

Let's hope their Character Selection Art does not look too similar. Sometimes I get confused with Cyclops and Daredevil since their face models look similar.

Definitely won't be an issue with these two.
