as I suspected. LOSE POINTS FASTER THAN EVER0

The first event is not even 1/2 over and it will take time to get used too. I have not climbed very high only around 400 points, but it was a fast climb. Will I get smacked back down? Yes! The key is how is it when you make a push for 1000 points or get in the range to hop for 1000 points. Just remember you cannot lose points when shielded and if instead of pushing to 800 before your first shield you can push to 900 that is a win. The challenge will be can you hang out around 600 points without falling to 300-400 to make a push viable. If you are climbing looking to hover now with over 24 hours remaining and not use a shield you will get smacked down fairly fast.0 -

I think the final numbers would be more or less correct, except that A would have maybe only 558 points and B would have 519 as my guess without working back through the numbers.Moon Roach wrote:Playing with my spread sheet, I found a few interesting things, but this one on retaliation I thought I'd share.
Starting with A and B, both on 500.
A attacks B and wins, gains 38, B loses 19, now we have 538 and 491.
B retaliates and wins, gains 44, A loses 23, now we have 515 and 525.
A retaliates and wins, gains 39, B loses 20, now we have 554 and 505.
B retaliates and wins, gains 43, A loses 24, now we have 530 and 548.
A retaliates and wins, gains 39, B loses 22, now we have 569 and 526.
To cut a long story short, after 14 retaliations both are above 600, after 30 they're over 700, 53 gets them 800, 97 gets them 900, then I lost the will to live, or at least the will to copy and paste.
Starting from 0, 18 mutual retaliations gets both A and B the token at 300.
Completely academic and unrealistic, and of no real value, but I'm sharing it anyway.
It was a transcription error, reading one thing from the spread sheet, typing another with my fat fingers of fickness. All the other figures are correct; I let Excel do all the hard work by setting the starting value for the next iteration as something like "=C7+I7".0 -
well i tried it in the early stages of Falcon PVP. only to realize that it's hard to judge how i feel about the change right now because Falcon PVP effing sucks and always has.0

I climbed from 0 to 830 in one climb, then got hit three times in the period of one match, losing 90 points. I found a match worth 67 points when I was starting out, and got a win against someone who beat me worth 55 while I was at 740.
I love the new changes. 800 was easy for me last season, but 1000 seemed like entirely too much work (which it probably should be, it's a 4* cover). Now I feel like 1000 is well within reach, and PVP seems much more manageable.0 -
I've played the Falcon PVP, and so far, I have to say I'm loving the changes. Could just all be coincidental, but I don't know. Yesterday I climbed and got the token at 650. Was going for the HP at 725, but got attacked and ran out of healthpacks before I could grab it. Knocked down over 200 pts overnight, I think. Since I've cleared the Gauntlet, and no PVE to grind or hit a refresh (awesome break to have), I went back to PVP. I climbed again, got the HP at 725, and would've had the cover at 800 but my tablet froze. By the time I restarted, I had been hit a couple times, so gave it a break. Fell back down to 586. Took another break, then went back. Within an hour of being at 586, I was able to grab the cover at 800 and the HP at 850, and then an attack came in, and I got knocked down to 811. Since I'm only trying to use 1 shield / PVP, to conserve all my HP for roster slots, I'm not gonna shield til the last 3 hours, but nice to know I can climb off retals and get above 600/700 to finish.0

I was slightly skeptical of the the changes when they first announced them. But I also, so far, am loving them. I am just under the 800 mark, shielded, waiting for my health packs to regen. So I do feel like this was a positive change, so far. As long as they don't change it in 2 days, saying they made a mistake, and adjust the numbers. We all know how much they like their nerf bat.
And I should note, that generally, I am a 550-650 PVP player. So 800+ is going to be a big deal to me.
DEVS TAKE NOTE!! - So far, this appears to be a POSITIVE change. DO. NOT. TINY_KITTY. IT. UP!!!
That is all.0 -
I have to say, I've never even contemplated PvP seriously, but out of boredom (based on how impossible the gauntlet is with my current team), I've been poking my head in pretty frequently in the past few days.
Not sure if it's actually the changes per se, but after turning down a few recruiting alliances because I didn't think I had a shot of making their PvP minimums, I'm pretty sure that if I had tried a bit harder yesterday (working), I could have hit 300 pretty comfortably, albeit with a bunch of skips.
I'm sure 300 isn't a big deal to most on the forum, but considering my prior "realistic" goal was 50-100?
One weird (very pleasant) change I've personally noticed, and it might be my imagination? I'm seeing higher point values on matches I could potentially beat. Putting my L94 2*s (+ my 1/1/1 Falcon) up against enemies at approximately level 125-150 sometimes gives me the possibility of 40+ points... something I'd never seen before, and also giving me a shot at the P300 token, again, not really a possibility prior to now.
All in all? Pretty sweet to see some actual enjoyment (outside of DDQ) in the never-ending 2* to 3* transition.

The point system now maxes at 75. So we get higher point matches now. I pushed up over 850 but was being greedy and went for too many matches in between shields and got knocked back down to 797. But considering that before I was running 500-600, 650 max, I will reiterate that I am liking the changes so far.
As for alliances, The Forest is still calling your name....0 -

Agreed with all that have played falcon's pvp that points are easier to come by... Climbed to 850 and with one hop hit 1010... My fear is that we will see the progression rewards moved up, if not back to their old levels, then pretty close to it... It just seems easier now0 -
I love the new scoring. The climb has never been this fast and painless, although having maxed Falcon and Torch certainly helped.0

I'm about to get my first HP progression reward from PvP... like, EVER. And that's including being hit 4-5 times already. Yeah, this change agrees with me.
What's even weirder is that 5-6 skips actually gets me players within 60 levels of me. Never saw that kind of satisfaction before...

The problem is no longer finding high value targets, because the score inflation has eliminated that issue. The remaining problems as I see it are: a) do you have the time to make the final push? b) are you willing to buy heal packs when your 5 runs out? The answer to both will determine how high players can realistically climb.0 -
My fear is that when the data comes in on how many players (as a %) reach the 1,000 points reward for falcon, and the developers feel the number is too high, they will revise scoring DOWNWARD. Not a prediction. My fear.0

It they do that, then the Forum will not be a nice place to be for a while after that.
The Devs specifically said they wanted more people to hit the progression rewards. Well, they got what they wanted. If they take it back now, I will be helping hand out the pitch forks and torches for all those interested.
If they move the Progression targets back to higher amounts, then it will show just how little they think of this game and its playerbase.0 -
101 pts from seed teams!
After seeds it took 7 matches to hit 400. Dropped 50 pts overnight, but that's one match to make it back. So far I'm loving this.
It's still early and the responders so far are not the top 10ers that filled the first 16 pages w righteous indignation, but since the event started there has only been one negative post.0 -

Well, my slice (5) is only half over, but I can weigh in with thought so far, if you'd like to hear from an on-again, off-again "top10er" I was waiting to comment until the event was over. Also remains to be seen how participation goes in this event. I have also been taking notes, to see how the new normal is going to play out.
I too picked 101pts from 3 seed matches, started in first 4hrs of the event. As expected, was able to climb quickly, and fairly easily, thanks to the 50% pts increase. I was also climbing in the wee hours when it's quieter. Running XF, Rogers, Torch, and/or Spidey along with Falcon, made it to 588 in 16 fights, no hits. Not knowing what to expect, I dropped a shield before crashing.
Only bounced once over night. Noticed no one in bracket had zoomed to a notable score. I continued climbing, adding 240pts in 10 matches. Why only 24pts/match? I unintentionally donated points to Salgy and wiped out, cost me about 60 (losing 23 instead of gaining 37). Also, the first 2 matches, two players I had q'd 3hrs before at 38pts each, only paid 15 each. 38pts indicates they were around 600 like me at the time; considering the discount on losses at that level, they had both taken a shellacking to be worth only 15 ... must have dropped to 300
I put in a weaker team at 828 to test the waters, and the effects were immediate, hit 3 times in 10min for -141pts! This was with 37hrs to go, and I was at 828. I put the A team back in and fought back to 797, and shielded to let guys who had qd the weak team blow over. Also as expected, if you field a lineup that's far ahead of its strength, it will fall even faster.
I let a few hours pass, did a 2 fight hop to 890. Letting the pack catch up now. Expect to be able to hit 1k tonight, and far easier than over the past 2 seasons.
So, scores are more volatile (about 50% more, haha). No more cushion from defensive wins (not even the honest ones, hardehar). Faster climbs and faster falls.
An alliance mate who also started early was able to reach 1K on 1 hop from 800.
I expect the end of the event to be REALLY wild. If you're aren't a shieldhopper or an early starter, expect some excitement. Hopefully enough players can reach 800, 1K, and beyond to fertilize all slices, and we all avoid the desperate feeding frenzies below 800 that PVPs have been known for recently.0 -
The only thing bugging me right now is my defense point losses. Were they supposed to be so high? Like 20+ high? It's not a huge deal, and easy enough to make up now that I can find similarly leveled teams to fight for decent point gains, but wow, those losses...

Could be worse. I logged a -48, a -39, and a -54 when I "experimented", and the biggest possible hit is now -75.
Not looking forward to that.
If you go too far too fast, you'll know it. Quick.0 -

appreciated...
i had a few glorious wipe-outs on my initial climb to 850ish...0
