  • Classic Storm is quite good in this set of heroics, but I don't have her leveled. Her lack of HP is not a significant weakness against goons since they one hit kill almost anyone anyway, and Wind Storm does enough damage to matter even against their souped up stats. In fact it seems like all the weak looking rosters have a high level Classic Storm. It won't help you much against a level 230 Daken, but I think Daken has pretty much everyone stomped no matter who they got at the moment.
  • Was browsing my leader board and the #2 only has 6 heroes with a max of 32 wolverine.........something wrong with that

ok I may have missed it in all those posts, but has anybody figured out how exactly the level of your opponents is determined?

Nothing concrete. We have been told it's not based off TaT, PvP MMR, Roster Size or character levels. So we know what it's not, now if only we knew what it was. Money spent? Hours Played? Date of Birth?

well, at least it means I can level my spidy without fear of getting harder opponents
  • Haha my opponents have risen from 195 to 200 and I have not even played. holy ****....whats going on here...

Spidey will get nerfed soon, dont throw too much ISO on him until then. (Maybe level him to 50)

The only thing I've noticed they let slip so far is that part of the equation is what everyone else is doing, not just you, and that was for Thick as Thieves, so there's no saying whether it's still true.

Before the Friday panic patch, IceIX said they didn't know what it was doing. Given it still looks pretty broken and inconsistent, I'd go about 70% they still don't. It might, of course, be working as intended now, assuming you believe the intention is that at least some percentage of players gets to grind the intro mission five times for thirty points every twelve hours, and nothing else.

Less interested in why it's broken than what it's meant to be scaling off, really. Event placement record? That'd be more consistent with how they do PvP MMR, although from the way people tank there seems to be an assumption that uses number of losses as well/instead. There'd also be some sense in it, since it'd mitigate the same twelve powergrinders winning the top placement awards from every event, unless they accidentally put themselves in a "What do you mean, it's bracketed?" bracket together. It doesn't know my blood type, does it? You can never be sure, these days.

I'd imagine that eventually scaling will catch up to the players who rocketed up to the top with weak rosters and they'll hit the ceiling hard, while high-level (and pain-loving) 3* grinders will be able to steadily pull ahead.

Sure, only Spider-Man and ***Widow really even count here, maybe **Storm. What does it matter, though? Unless you're of that competitive mindset that requires you place as well as possible in everything the game puts in front of you, you're not getting anything worth placing for. One cover for a junk hero and a blob of ISO. The only calculation worth looking into on this event is how much pain it'll be to get to whatever progression awards you want. Assuming it isn't the 4*s, because for those you can write yourself a bot or forget about it. Shame this will be so poorly received, because progression outstripping placement for PvE I think they got nearly spot on amid the mess.

Yep - I agree that the move to focus on the progression rewards for PvE is the right play. With minimal focus it's easy to walk out of this one with a DD for placement, regardless of your roster. There was plenty wrong with the implementation for this event for both new and veteran players, but that's been well-documented in this thread and I see no need for me to pile on.

My point in the post you quoted was to address the tons of posts I've been seeing saying something to the effect of "OMG Cheaters! Not fair that 1* noobs are going to get better rewards than me!!!". They aren't. When they hit the wall, they won't be able to progress at all, while someone with a 5-blue Spidey that they worked for will pass them up. From some of the other posts I've seen about scaling, it appears this is already starting to happen. We're all equally hamstrung.
  • Tried my luck again. Miss 1-2 tiles, whole party dies, so much fun to be had

I really really wish, as a consequence to this, they at least stop to release broken events on a friday. Best case they stop with broken events altogether... but yeah that's unlikely. The part that is pissing me off the most though is that this event only is doable by: luck, usage of broken characters that are in line for nerfs (spidey) or having a roster that is only a week old.... very heroic indeed

I was being sarcastic, and it's probably not a cheater, just a new player. The event is only doable to a select few of active players and to low level players.
  • i'm pretty bored right now. basically need to sit out heroic mode and thor tournament because of devs icon_e_sad.gif

    sold thor!

and my bracket is being dominated by new players generating 2x the points than me in a given period.

  • I'm #1 in my bracket and I have the best roster out of the top 10. Victory for the bad guys?

There are two in the top ten with 1 star roster, but the other 7 all have level 85 characters. I am the only guy with characters above level 85 in the top (Spiderman).

Not sure how many times I need to say it, but don't stick around to find out what happens on a big attack from a goon, especially if the damage is more than the total HP you have. One time I did stick around for a 2K flamethrower because I was on the verge of establishing a stun lock so I decided to tough it out, but if that happened early on, I just retreat immediately and then do a all goons missions to heal back up. And if you're trying to fight the 3 level 230 villians with the available roster, you got some serious guts. I beat Imposters Assemble once, but that was probably luck, and haven't come close to beating the one after that (Ares is a considerable step up in difficulty compared to Moonstone).

Right now I have no idea how anyone can possibly come close to the 50K rewards. I'm leading my bracket with 3300 and it's about 1/4 of the way through. I might be able to get the Daredevil cover at 10K at this rate.

i beat all the missions at least 1x, but i did have to use boosts on the villains (usually just 20% DA damage boost, and purple/blue +3).

I don't want to go through the villains missions again, since I already got the 500 ISO rewards from them on the first play through and the resulting rewards will be a net loss if i'm using boosts.

Goons are very simple, just need to be patient and make right moves.

    My team right now:

    125 GSBW
    125 C Spidey
38 Daredevil (nice boosted stats/hits for red)

would be nice if the rewards reset at all during this event....otherwise I"ll just keep grinding out the goons and hoping that the noobs don't completely obliterate me.

Your team is super strong, obv you should be able to beat them with 125 GSBW AND Spidey. They are by far the most important players. I am in the super hard group of 230 villains and with a 104 spidey and now 65 GSBW and was able to beat all but the last 2 missions. Its brutal and not fairly set up. They really needed to boost GSBW and Hawkeye for this to be reasonably doable to get anything.
  • Someone (might have been you, Phantron?), put me on to the Spidey (30)/ GSBW (56)/ C Storm (45) for this, and it's mostly working. Wasn't before, but I finally got a Blue Spidey out of TBTI, so I have at least one of each.

Phantron is right - if there's a tile about to go off, get out of dodge. So a couple of times on a starting board I've not been able to get enough Green (C Storm), Purple (GSBW, to kill counters / generate Green) or Blue (either Spidey or Storm, depending) to gain 'control' of the board. So retreat, rinse and repeat and hope for a more favourable board.

With this combo / tactic, I win at least 1 in 3. And as soon as I have control of the board and am firing Purple / Green combos, I gradually accumulate enough Blue / Yellow through to fire of Spidey's stun / heal, getting me back to full health for the next attempt. The Reds come into play for Widow's tile clear shot too. It still takes ages to grind em down, 'cos my team doesn't do much damage, but at least I can win a round.

So if it was you who suggested that combo, thanks Phantron! If not, thanks to whoever it was!

I tried a few times on the mission after Imposters Assemble and just didn't seem to be worth it, since I don't have time to do all the missions anyway I don't see the need to risk dying and use boosts when I can plug away at some goons.

I assume by villians you mean the triple villian mission? The one villian + 2 henchman mission might as well be all henchman (just stun the 1 villian with Spiderman) and is actually pretty easy points.

I think the winning rewards should reset daily since that's roughly the timeframe a normal sub event would've lasted.
  • The top 10 of my bracket hasn't moved in 24 hours. I'm going to win it without playing for 5 straight days. I feel so funbalanced right now.
  • Slowly grinding my way through these huge sacks of hp with 85wolv/15spidey/15 daredevil with my 3 AP blue stun. Really wish I could use my OBW so at least I would have a team composition that I find fun to play but I guess that outfit doesn't pass the SHIELD dress code.
