Simple fix that will benefit everyone, make shields lock points so you don't move backward.

Um... that's exactly what they already do. Other people pass you, you don't move back.
Lock your points as in create a check point that you can't fall below, not simply protect your points for x hours

    LOL OP !!!
There has been a change?? In MMR ?? Are you kidding me ??
    I didn´t notice a thing !!

Oh yes, there was, X-Force was crippled !!

    I hit 1000 before, with 1 shield.

Now, my goal is hit 800, with 1 shield.

Go back to Kamala Khan MMR.

(I don´t know how to answer, because I didn´t see any difference from Iron man PVP to ongoing Lethal Intent PVP, beside Kamala).
  • Have barely been playing this mess of a game, but I tried PvP this morning. It's awful. Between the health buffs and facing maxed out opponents immediately, I'm done.

Oh and the leader in my 10am time slot has 200+ freaking points. Those progression awards are really within reach

  • I tried in Lethal Intent, and there's a lesson here: I'm probably never going to put any real effort into PVP again. It's a waste of time.

I got up to 922. In good shape for a shield hop. Do one match, fine, do a second, hit for 38, another to make upfor it, hit for two more matches for minus 22. My shield hop, ten hours out from the end, cost me thirty points.

You have made PVP a complete waste of time. I'm going to try to maintain top 25 for this one, sunk cost fallacy and all, but I may never buy more than a three hour shield again. PVP in this game is terrible. It's not fun. I am this close to abandoning it completely, because it is a miserable slog, where you have almost no control over how you place. I hate PVP. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

And anyone thinking of trying to offer me any helpful advice on PVP: don't bother. Iit's a bad system, and I know how it works, and nothing is going to keep it from being a bad system. The mistake I made was putting effort into it.

Gamora is an unpopular character that few people have bothered to level up. SO WHY IS IT ALMOST EVERY MATCHUP I GET IS WITH ANOTHER LV290?! Seriously... WHAT is the POINT?? This PvP would've been a lot easier if I knew I could have kept her at lv70 and faced other 70s.

    1) Give me SOME REASON to level up characters!

    2) Matchmaking still sucks!

Nope, I have a fully covered unleveled Gamora and all I see is 290 Gamoras as well. I think it must be based on cover number not level.

I levelled her specifically for this pvp with the idea that I'd use her as a meat shield, as I wanted to go after prof x.

Surprisingly, she's excellent when featured and buffed out the wazoo. I still wouldn't use her outside of any events where she gets a major boost like this, but she rocks the featured role and I enjoyed using her.

    That's even worse...

Maybe instead of running the garbage PvPs during the off-season, they can run normal events and try to come up with matchmaking that not everyone hates.

Might be why I am struggling so much with the new PVP brand. I mainly have fully covered under levelled characters. Which doesn't just up difficulty like other have stated. But instead turns it to impossible. I am all for more difficult but when I have to use health packs after every match it usually means 3-4 matches then a three hour break. I don't really have time for that.

I think the other thing I struggle with is that I have everyone except prof x and yelena. This new PVP make everyone of them except my four 166s useless to my team.

That would be because, similar to Patch, she has a skill that is affected by 'number of tiles bearing her symbol'. Only in her case it doesn't affect any one-time high-yield damage. It directly affects how many strike tiles she produces.
In retrospect, that kind of thing is horribly, horribly, broken when left unchecked and uncapped. That brokenness is the only thing that makes her 'excellent'.

(I really wish I had a Bad Rep cover for her. All I'm stuck with is 4 in the two other skills, which are supremely 'meh'.)

as i said earlier in this thread there seems to be a connection between feature level and what your "maximum difficulty cap" is
    as outlined here viewtopic.php?f=13&t=27106#p329729
we’re reducing the maximum difficulty of opponents we send you, when there are enough available opponents to allow that. Players who were already seeing only opponents of their level and below in Heavy Metal won’t notice much difference here, but this will help players that are between the 2-star level cap and the 3-star cap, or between the 3-star cap and the 4-star cap

A leveled feature can push you from one star cap to another

My Gamora is level 115 boosted and so far I've fought at least 4 guys who had Gamora as their highest level hero and a bunch of 94s to follow her. Featured Hero level seems to figure prominently in the new MMR.

Slightly off topic (but not by much). I was hit this morning in shield. had ~1200 points. My attacker had ZERO points. I'm just wondering if the matchmaking based on point banding has been entirely eliminated from pvp in general.

In response to this thread, I temporarily set aside my decision to quit PvP. I played in both the Lord of Thunder and the Lethal Intent PvPs.

Point-wise, I can now place around 450 points without significant reprisals or cutbacks. The problem is the damage I take during matches. After two or three, one of my primary characters is usually low. That forces me to burn health packs at an accelerated rate. If I were only playing PvP this wouldn't be a problem. I prefer to do both PvP and PvE, and this ranking system forces me to choose between them. If this system is left in place, PvP is going to lose.

I'll add that I will no longer play Lightning Rounds under this ranking system. The attrition rate is simply too high to make any reward worth it.

My roster is primarily level 94 2-star characters. I have a large mix of 3-star characters, but they are all below level 94 with four exceptions: Blade, Hood, Luke Cage, and Daredevil are all at level 105.

There are different aspects to what I am seeing right now...

    1) The climb to 1k is TERRIBLY tedious right now and cannot be reasonably expected to be done in 1 or even 2 sittings - there are times I am out of healthpacks after just 2 or 3 fights. Right - you could say I should diversify whom I climb with, however unless you use the most intimidating setup you have (which probably includes IF or KP or PX), you will get way more attacks/retals on your climb. Gamora PvP I did with 0->150 (3 hours parked), 150->320 (3 hours parked), 320->500 (3 hours parked), 500->650 (10 hours parked) and 650->1008 (had to buy 5 healthpacks due to being wiped twice)

    2) It helps a BIT to be able to Q opponents worth ~40-50 points right from 0, however this is connected with the problem, that no matter what your point total is, you can be hit by EVERYONE regardless of how low they are - this makes a climb to the 1k much slower then when there were bands and you could Q a person only up to 300 higher then you - this absolutely needs to be fixed...

    3) I wholeheartedly believe that once enough people buy PX/KP covers for HP, they will be nerfed and other new, OP 4*'s will take their place - which notion I really dislike

I have seen a lot lower teams with higher level Gamora's too. With the Xforce Nerf I am seeing a lot of different tams. I am now above 700 and it is all max teams. My level 100 gamora might suffer the consequences. I have also been hit a lot and I don't know if it is the lower level gamora or the MMR.
1000 points still seem really far away.

    Hi Kabir,

I made it to 976 in Gamora, and hit 1000 in Thor. I had a cover-maxed Gamora at 245 boosted and a cover-maxed Thor at 280 boosted. Thor took 600 hp to get to 1000, and I used X-Force during the hops, although I saw a lot of teams without XF. I would get hit but not too often; high-level Thor is a decent scarecrow. In Gamora, Luke Cage 140/OBW 94/Gamora 245 scored an unusually high number of defensive wins, and I saw a real diversity of teams.

It's better than it was in prior events this season because I was stuck at 870 in the previous PVPs. It's worse because it requires even more effort over a longer time period.

After seed teams, it was 3* teams between 115-166 in various compositions up until 600-700, and then I started seeing teams with 4*s, which I could skip for more 166s or hit for good points. At no point was I facing a 270 wall because top-tier 3*s are viable. I saw a ton of LThor, Magneto, Loki, Hood, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daken, Dr. Doom.

The reason I voted No, still worse than before the MMR change, is because each fight in the Gamora PVP took at least 1.5-2x as long as it did before even given that Gamora drops hefty Strike tiles.

The game is significantly slower, and matchmaking against equal or higher-level teams (I was fighting 166s with maxed Gamora from 300 points onward) is better in terms of limiting stronger matches. However, the cost here for that reduced visibility pool is if you are visible you will get hit by the same people repeatedly AND matches take twice as long. Shield hops are significantly more dangerous.

2* -> 3* Transitioner here (highest level is 95). Joined Lethal Intent 2 hours before the slice finished, ended with ~500 points.

It seems like I am being matched up better to similar caliber teams than I was before. I am seeing a lot less 100+ level teams than I was before the MMR changes, though I still see a few here and there. I saw a lot less attacks than previous events this season (didn't get my first until about 400ish, I was seeing attacks at ~200 in other events).

I still miss being matched up against weaker teams at <200. I enjoyed being able to conserve my health packs by using my C, D, and E teams early on. I just don't have enough covers yet on my 3* characters for them to play on the same level as my A and B team characters.

Finally got a chance to play this with the Quicksilver match

First, fought a few seed teams.

Next.... all the available opponents were Quicksilver flanked by two level 270 characters. Occasionally Hood or Loki at Level 166 would be out instead, but most of the teams were level 270.

I wanted to try out Quicksilver with Daredevil and Iron fist, because it's a good way (maybe the only way) to fuel Quicksilver's awful abilities. I was able to take down some of these level 270 teams with them. Quicksilver Versus Quicksilver is a rather awful match ... if there are 3 locked tiles, a blue match by either side is bad for you.

Quicksilver-Iron Fist-Daredevil can't be played correctly by the AI. What did I see? I am barely at 100 points, and I start getting attacked like crazy. Why? Because I'm not using a level 270 team. It's just a level 166 team. I've only got 100 points, so I'm not losing a lot, but i'm being attacked five times a minute.

Eventually, I gave up on playing a team that worked well with Quicksilver and fielded a Level 270 team. At that point, the attacks stopped.

Doing about 20 skips, every opponent team I saw had level 270 teams. If I used anything else, such as a level 166 team, I started getting attacked relentlessly again. It's like the game is openly and blatantly punishing me for using anything else in my roster except fully leveled 270 characters.

I can maybe see the game doing something like this at 800+ points ... but eliminating 95% of my roster in PvP is grotesquely bad programming.

I liked the recent character changes, because it opened up my roster. But this MMR change closes up my roster and locks it in a vault. It's awful.
