I find it amusing how you say you listen to the forum opinions a lot, yet the vast majority of forum opinion seems to go unheard.

I enjoy this game, I like the challenge and I love most things Marvel related. However, some of the recent changes are seriously destroying my love for the game. The change of the boost price is very close to the last straw for me. I only have characters in the mid 50s or so, and without the +3 AP boost (which I refuse to pay for) there is virtually no way I can complete the current PvE level 230 events.

It seems to me that while recent changes have been done in the name of balance, they come across as in the name of "greed"....

    - players are using Rags to blast through matches unharmed - nerf him
    - introduce characters (Ares and Patch) that have abilities that hurt themselves or their team
    - make matches last longer so players are forced towards buying Health Packs if they want to push high in tournaments
    - introduce Shields as a way to make money
    - realise players are using shields to get the highest progression rewards, so increase the shield price and make the rewards harder to reach
    - change the cost of the most popular boost to 100 HP(!)

And that's just off the top of my head. Virtually all of those changes are hurtful to the players. I understand the Rags nerf (though you went too far and I still want my refund I requested), but the rest just seem greed driven IMO.

This is a nice little summary. I had never posted until today. This game is still fun, but I don't think the decisions being made are making the game more fun. Once a game stops being fun well, time to find a new game.

I think you need to use consumer polls to see the impact of a move before you make it. Wolverine is less fun to play with now, because his mechanics have changed. I agree with the nerf to the strike tiles, since that was crazy, but I still think his healing powers should have remained the same. Someone said Wolverine isn't a tank, Colossus is. Colossus would last about 5 seconds in a fight versus wolverine. The character itself is overpowered. If a character plays like a 3*, make him a three star and make him rare. The 4* we have are useless. Let's make those better. Wolverine 2* should have been the 4* all along, and Thor, one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Universe, should have been a 3*.

What I think needs to happen is that characters that get nerfed get the cost of their covers reduced by at least 50%. That way it is more reasonable to respec them. Add the ability to delete a cover as long as you haven't exceeded the level limit, and you can change your roster along with their bug improvement process.

Maybe if you only have characters in their mid 50s, you SHOULDN'T be able to beat level 230 PvE? Maybe you should have to buy boosts, and maybe they should be priced reasonably so you can't rely on them all the time?

Or maybe I shouldn't be forced into buying the boosts just to compete with the top guys on the leaderboard? Or maybe as I only have mid 50s characters I shouldn't be forced into facing level 230 opponents?

    This.

I disagree that they haven't been listening. I think they just might not have always gone with the popular way of changing it.

For example, shields were a response to people who complained about getting attacked a lot. It might not have been the best solution but still shows they're listening.

Also, many people wanted Rags nerfed. So they listened, it just wasn't that well executed.

Tourney end times has been changed to please Euros. Rubberbanding has been toned down. Progression rewards have been made attainable (briefly). Either the daily deals suggestion was a great foreshadow or they listened to that. The increasing mob level difficulties has also been a suggestion and we now have that in the most recent event. I could prolly go on and on.

I'm not even sure if it is a case of too much too quickly or just a lack of resources to really test ideas out before pushing them live.

I honestly can't see how Patch was missed and you will never be able to convince me that Thick as Thieves was properly tested. It seems that they just throw changes out there, see if there is a drop in numbers and they 'get away with it' or not.
Not the case, but I can see how you would think that. Patch was tested quite a few times before he came out. Just prior to him releasing, a change was made in the client-side code to a function that was thought to have been deprecated. That function handled the creation of enemy tiles by any character and it hit Patch as a result. The build was tested, everything major checked out so the button was pressed to put it into submission. After that as QA was going down the more exhaustive testing checklists, it was noted that Patch's abilities weren't working properly. At that point, we made a decision to push out the build with that in place since the alternative was to have no new PVE events until a new build was also put through internal tests, then placed into submission queueing again.

    WOW.

Please read what you just write. So you say if you guys would just run your mandated process, listen to the QA and stop the broken Patch in house we would have also lost the even more broken PVE (we're talking about thivies, right?) and when it rolled out for good it might also receive the due amount of testing -- like just doing all the missions in one sub, start next and face the lvl140 thugs.

Guess I need to edit my recent post: you have actual QA just don't assign them any power. Let them discover defects that will be not addressed. So nullifying most of their work with all the far-fetching effect of that particular schema. WOW repeated.

Thick as Thieves was tested fairly well, but it wasn't anticipated how much the PVE scaling would take effect with a large playerbase. The thing you may not see is that it's not just *your* performance in missions that raises or lowers your scaling, but also others performances.

I guessed that much. That's a maximum-risk design decision to start with, it would pass me on condition of thorough testing and modeling using realistic PVE play data (like the event before that). Smaller set said insufficient up front. Let me bet that you had people there who said or at least thought to say that is is too rushed and bigger tests are due to sleep well. And they were overruled. By those whose idea of "tested fairly well" is somewhere on the "please stop finding bugs" level, and mind louded by deadline.

No sir, losing that bad PvE experience would have been a great thing to start with. And you should take a deep breath and at least learn the lesson AFTER the fact. The real one. Five words A.J.! BAH, that is not the way to go, that is not the way to go.

While you read confident that it was okay, and if turned out not so, it;s not a systemic process flaw and roots in broken approach but some rare and unfortunate accident. It is not. And while you maintain that way of thinking it will happen over and over and over.

What more than justifies to post deterring reviews and warn everyone to sit out the period you find the sense.

Sure, why not. I can still play this game for free. There is nothing stopping me from loading up a PvP or PvE fight because I have a lack of either thing.

I don't have an expectation that they will 1: keep this game static the way it was the day I started and 2: cater every option and price to a place where I can find instant gratification and be the best in the world. This is and always has been a game where you need to put up money or play a lot of hours to get better. If you haven't figured that out then I'm not sure what you're doing different.

I do like your positive attitude, but I do not share the same sentiment. The game is fun, but the never ending changes and poor communication are maddening.
  • Btw, the price for selling the characters seems to be glitchy. It goes from 35765 to 3576, so I'm not sure I want to sell Wolverine for 3k icon_e_smile.gif Same thing with Thor.

    I get your frustration.

But we have to expect the changes. This game isn't done. I hope its a much better game 6 months from now because of all these growing pains. It's certainly much better than what it was when I started back in October.

And I think the communication is much better than what we would expect from other game companies. Some changes can't be communicated far out for either development or business reasons. And even if they could, it might not always be wise for them to do so. I think they found a pretty happy medium. This is just patch day backlash and nothing more, in my eyes.

Just confirmed this in-game. It's just a text cut-off bug, you'll get the full listed amount, not the cut-off amount.
  • You can update your reviews on Google Play. I change mine according to how the game is playing for me at the time. Currently it's 1 star. I changed it when the PVP changes were implemented and shield prices increased. Three weeks before that it was a steady 4 stars and had been pretty much since I began playing. These past few weeks it feels like a tornado going through and tearing things up. Hopefully things will settle down sooner than later. Hopefully I'll not have given up by then.

To me, rating on the app store is not for the devs. It's for other players as a warning to not waste their time. Basically it's a sign saying, "If you're looking for fun, look elsewhere." I know that I personally read reviews before I download stuff.

As the game is now, for a brand new player who doesnt know of the pricing history. They pick it up and start playing the prologues and fight some other newbies..... are they truly only going to have a 1 star experience? Do you really think that?

  • Wow, a lot of hate on these forums right now.

I, for one, thoroughly enjoy this game. I have been playing daily, multiple times a day, since the week it was released. I, for one, like the Thor/wolvie changes. They aren't bad. Come on, really? Every character has it's own uses, it's just a matter of finding them.

I don't necessarily love that boosts cost hp now, but hey, it is what it is. The game is still fun. You guys want to give up on a great game because of a few changes that you don't agree with, so be it. I, for one, am definitely not changing my rating of this game. It's still FUN. Rewards should go to those that experiment with versatility, spend hours playing, build their team the way they want. I think you all are focusing on the wrong aspect here. It's still FUN. Hard games can still be fun. And for those of you that decide to leave over this, I look forward to grinding, experimenting with different teams and being the player that I want to be and playing the game that I love... All without you. No offense, but I have played and played and played and still do to this day. This game will ho on because of people like me. It will not fail because of people like you.

Ice IX, devs, great job, great game, daredevil looks amazing and I look forward to ALL changes you guys make.

P.s. thors yellow has amazing synergy now. Love it.

I do think that. The pricing increase was just sauce. The real problem is matchmaking, progression rewards, retaliations/attacks and point loss, the implementation of shields and then essentially removing their efficacy by increasing their price to outrageous (that one thing has now been fixed). In other words, PVP. If somebody only wanted to play for PVE, I would've said it was still fun... Until they implemented this asinine points system that decreases points rewarded while increasing enemy level. So, yes, currently I believe that a new player just starting the game will have more frustration and puzzlement than fun. I think those of us who are disgruntled yet still playing are here because we remember the good old days and are expecting/hoping that things will smooth out and become fun again. A new player doesn't even have those memories to keep him going.
  • Just change the boost cost back and i will be happy, it really wasn't necessary. %80 of the players relied on that and it makes you guys look greedy. Why do the devs have to be so annoying, you guys give us a high five one day and then the next day you slap us in the face. I have seen improvents in the game and i defiantly have seen flaws. Quickest way to loose players? Increase prices on things so real money is needed.

    GREEDY GAMES NEVER WIN.

Or better yet, make it so 80% of the players don't rely on boosts.

I don't begrudge them their chance to make money; I just think they need to be smarter about doing it in a way that doesn't antagonize players.

Cool. I went for it and sold him anyway icon_e_smile.gif I also sold Thor. I was so Angry I sold Venom and the Juggernaut too! I reinvested the points and now have:
Level 85 Iron Man 40, Level 85 Hulk, and Level 92 Spiderman as my main team with the two super widows as backups. I am happy I got something out of my characters, so thanks for that. I think this keeps me playing, although for how long will depend on what changes come next. If all of a sudden there is a new event that requires Wolverines and Thor's, I am out for good icon_e_smile.gif

Good deal! I couldn't give up my Thor and Wolvie, as I'm nostalgically attached. But high level Hulk and Spidey sounds like a good exchange.

I'm not touching any1 on the list of to be tweaked. I finally took the plunge so 80k sitting waiting on a decision.
