Anyone else having an odd amount of trouble with Scotland Yard IX (the essential with Ares, Juggs, and Moonstone)? The few times that I've run it now, I've lost a character or two. Not used to that for essentials. I guess it might have to do with a one-covered Kamala, but maybe I should switch off of Stormneto. Storm's stun is nice though to delay/prevent a headbutt...

    Thoughts?

That's because your opponent is Juggernaut and Ares, 2 of the strongest characters in the game at levels the AI gets them.
  • Took almost 4k damage from a sunder with ares having 80 health left.

    Ares = aids.

Against both Ares & Juggs, you're just going to eat at least one health pack when you're done. There's not much way around it. You either eat an Onslaught or two, or a Headbutt or two. Or Juggs decides to smash the board up a couple of times and you eat a nasty cascade. Leading to an Onslaught or a Headbutt. Rinse & repeat.

The first move double 5 line match cascade, leading to sunder then onslaught by move 2 was a big hit on the health packs.

I just ran that node again and wiped hard with Cap, Magneto, and Kamala. Wasn't even close.

Then I used OBW, 2* Thor, and Kamala, and won it. OBW's blue was essential after Thor ate the first Headbutt, and the extra boosts of health from Kamala's yellow helped big-time. Thor's health bar was about 3/4 green by the end.

make it too easy, people complain, make it too hard, people complain...

As long as you can get some purples and take out stone first, Doom owns this board. Jugs and ares could care less about them, allowing trap damage to get monstrous.. already have my 4 rewards from this board, 153 3Thor, 130 Doom (5/1/4), and Khan, who scales to 156 (2/2/1)

I found that Kamala, X-force and Steve Rogers make an excellent team for essential nodes, even against high leveled Juggs/Ares. Kamala basically feeds X-force green AP...

With my current score of 30k with more than half progression remaining to reach KK, I decided to look back at the last time Thick of Thieves was ran.

It was back in January, which I believe was before they switched to 8hr refreshs. The final progression reward was for 3* Thor at 60,000 (see below). I remember I barely reached it! I thought they lowered the progression to accommodate the 8hr refresh but maybe they overlooked this?

Lol, this is basically what we've been talking about since Page 2 of this thread. Though, sad to see no Reds coming in to clarify now that they are back in the office.

I have been using 108 xforce, 94 obw, & kk buffed to 145 with 2y/1p/1g. also using g/b & p/b ap boost. make any purple matches and zap their ap before they get a chance to fire anything off. Focus on Jugg first, then ares, then finish moonstone. xforce b & g hits take about 3k per hit so not too bad.

They're too busy implementing next week's 4* character and ignoring the clusterf*** that is PVP right now

The top progression is really going to be hard if I don't get the Kamala from the token. I know Kingpin is completely out of my range at this point, so it's not even worth trying anymore. This is all with semi-optimal play. I've never missed the progression since I started on PVE, but I'm crossing my fingers on this one. I have 2 days and 5 hours left with only 19808.

Looking at top scorer in my bracket, they're 10.5k away from progression, too. It's not just you, bud.

An event where players have to play 6/7 days for progression? Yeesh.
  • If you have 50K at the end of Scotland Yard that should be a fairly comfortable pace to hit 65K. Looking at my bracket the top 10 will hit that easy and I can't see any further below. I'm guessing most people aren't going to do significantly better than 15K in the last day of Scotland Yard (that'd be close to 4 total cycles) so you can that as a very rough estimate.

I think it is, "make it too easy, everyone complains about how difficult it is to get top placement ; make it too hard, the new players complains".

I'm at 55k and should probably hit it by the end of third sub. Final sub is only 24 hours so if points aren't massive I could see it being fairly difficult to hit.

I hope the points are massive. I'm at 40k(haven't been playing optimally, but c'est la vie) and need 20.5k in the next 24 hours. Looking at bracket leaders/overall leaders, I haven't slacked too much - its just the points for grab are just low.
  • I thought I remember there being nodes that were 2k individually last time, though that may have been with rubber banding.

I'm currently at ~58k - I ground 6 nodes down tonight because I won't have time to tomorrow morning - and feeling pretty confident about hitting 65k. Less confident about getting top ten, but I think top 50 is close to a lock at this point.
