Hi David,
Can you make some messages to stop popping up?
Every time I open the game I get "SALE!" all up in my face.0 -

Fixed that for you.0 -

The character balance post went in-game the same day it was posted in the forums. You can find it by selecting the gear icon/Help/"What's New In MPQ."
Unfortunately, it can be hard to find, but thankfully some players do check the FAQ and access the info there. As you'll see in many of the posts in "What's New" we encourage players to visit the forums. We don't have the ability to have working links in the "Message of the Day," but that functionality is on schedule to be added soon.

Planned for release on Friday, after the office closes for the weekend so that all concerns can be addressed on Monday after the Nerf is in effect. Non-forumites getting the message for the first time on Friday will be left to stew in their anger and outrage for the weekend... maybe they will have cooled down by Monday? Not likely.
At least the soon-to-be nerfed characters aren't in the list of acceptable characters to be played in this Heroic POS... so far.0 -
Forumites used to complain that d3 didn't communicate before changes were made. Now they complain when d3 makes announcements before changes are implemented.
C'est la vie.0 -

Total straw man. Ironic that your post to whine about whining comes across as complaining just for the sake of complaining.0 -

You get all my thumbs for dropping a dirty rotten scoundrels reference in 2015. Cork on a fork!0 -

Thanks for putting words in my mouth through questions that have nothing to do with my comment. I just made a simple observation. I don't see where I complained, but I'm sure it's there somewhere.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled complaining.0 -
gobstopper wrote:You think that nerfing Iron Fist after people have bought covers rather than pre-release is acceptable?.
The Iron Fist nerf is just about the only nerf i think is sensible. He'll still be great and i still think about buying covers when i can.0 -
First off, agreement of anger at demiurge to avoid flames:
1. Not announcing the nerf to people until after a sale seems shady.
2. Putting the nerf announcement in a hidden help - news function that's not even available to steam users is shady.
3. Not realizing IF is OP before releasing makes us question competency.
Mitigations:
1. I like that they're telling the forum crowd before anyone else, as a heavy forum user. I get to tell my alliance and feel important.
2. If people are too angry, the lesson D3 will learn is: don't tell the forum crowd before everyone else. Let them know at exactly the same time: 1 week before a nerf.
3. It takes extra effort to coordinate announcements, and doing so slows them down.
While universal announcement is probably the best way, I for one like having forum privilege, early knowledge.0 -

And regardless of the number of people who buy covers, that has nothing to do with the question I asked, which is about business ethics. You basically just put your fingers in your ears and went, "La la la, people don't buy covers, I can't hear you, la la la".
You should submit your resume' to demiurge asap. You're eminently qualified and would fit right in.
People bought IF covers. I saw it in my shard, two people. I suppose it could have been 30 people across the shards, but it wasn't a majority of players or even a substantial amount. And if they did, it then has to be considered what was bought HP and what was banked HP. You say 'plenty,' but that's not a number, or a percent of players. I'm an English teacher, and the best I can narrow that down to is 'more than a few.' "Sorry, more than a few people will be disappointed by this." Give them a much higher rate of sale than normal seems like proper compensation. But they are adjusting things to suit the whole audience. Was this sale a quick cash grab to suck in ignorant noobs? Maybe. I assumed it was a quick bandage to soothe the bitter forumites who took this nerfing too hard. And debated if it was just a matter of time, since I hadn't bought any HP since the last sale way back in November. I didn't consider it was a cruel cash grab until I surfed these forums.
I realise now you think I was saying 'la la la,' but I really wasn't. On my end, I wasn't, regardless as to how you want ot spin it. You'll have to trust me, the guy you've never met on the Internet. I think the company has been really trying to keep all of the people happy, which is, of course, impossible. Soooo many people complained about IF, and then D3 slightly adjusted it, and when they did so, they have you complaining about their business ethics as to how they treat those who spent loads of cash to max him ASAP. They just aren't going to satisfy everyone. I hear you, I totally do, I just don't share your point of view.
And it's kind of complimentary to be recommended as staff for D3. I've played loads of games in my 30 years as a player, and loads of smartphone games in the last decade, but none of them have had me play to day 300. I have a lot of respect to the thought and design that goes into this F2P game. I think they're doing a really good job overall, or I wouldn't waste two hours a day on the game, or my free time on this forum (which has helped me play the game better). It's a pretty solid gaming company. Call (insinuate) that I'm a schill if you like, but I'd be embarrassed to be on day 300 of a game and think the publishers are scammers instead of real publishers. I'd just walk away instead.... No Candy Crush on my phone0 -
Lol the in game announcement is there now as a pop up. Great!!! Just a tad bit slow but I would hope in the future it becomes a regular practice as soon as you guys decide you will be making a change.0
-
Th whole reason for this thread came from the fact the publisher has an econometrics guy on board who knows there is money to be made from the ignorance of the whales and the admitted 90% that are not forumites.
We knew about these changes for over a week now, yes? Would you, D3, be willing to show coin and cover purchase rates pre and post announcement?
I am not of the opinion that you would. The fact that you only give in-gamers (see 100% of players) all of 4 days notice suggests you are still tryig to eek out as many sales as possible.0 -

I would disagree. If they wanted to milk out more sales, then the would have added IF to DDQ. Puts more pressure on purchasing enough tokens to win 1 cover so as not to miss out on the free one.
Also, maybe this is the best way to notify all players without having multiple pop ups show up for more than a week. I'm guessing most players have more time to play on the weekend.
I will concede that 1 weekend in not enough notice.0 -
Here we are a month later, another 4* nerf coming in 2 days and no in game announcement.
PATHETIC0 -
There's a pop up in game right now about the Character Updates with a link right to the post with all the changes.0

Really? Because I just saw one.
