Please put an in-game announcement about the nerf

My experiences with re-balances in most games is that they do not tell you what is *fixed*
The few games I have played I have always appreciated knowing what the new updates will bring before they hit. Even if it's just something in the game to tell you where to look at them. Dark Souls 2 is very good at telling you when an update happens and what has been changed. I absolutely loved that, even if it was better or worse for my current character build. So D3, do yourself a favor and tell people about the re-balance, even if it's just "these characters are going to have changes, see the d3 forums for details". Some people may find that Mystique change more beneficial for what characters they use, or the Magneto changes as well. So it's not going to be all negative responses, most people are going to be like how I am feeling with my Magneto, "well, that sucks...oh well..."0 -

The character balance post went in-game the same day it was posted in the forums. You can find it by selecting the gear icon/Help/"What's New In MPQ."
Unfortunately, it can be hard to find, but thankfully some players do check the FAQ and access the info there. As you'll see in many of the posts in "What's New" we encourage players to visit the forums. We don't have the ability to have working links in the "Message of the Day," but that functionality is on schedule to be added soon.0 -

You have a banner pop-up about the sale, you had one about the buff for Rags, there is no excuse for not having one about the nerf. It's shameful to have a sale and not disclose this info in the same breath.0 -
I think they mean put a bubble alerting players like you did for the Rags update. Even if the alert bubble is just something to the extent:
Several Characters will be changed on 3/23. You can get more information by selecting the gear icon/Help/"What's New In MPQ."0 -

For once, I agree with the pitchfork crew. If they don't post a notification it'll be pretty s***y.0

The fact that you could finish typing this post, and not realize that it's not enough of a warning to people about to purchase covers that will be losing their value in a week, is truly insulting.
*edit - added some comas and fixed some spelling that got missed in my initial incredulity. Seriously tho, just wow...0 -

They could have delayed the sale till after the nerf. As it is, they're simply enticing people to buy something and then a few days later change it to something less valuable. That's not cool.0 -

Wait, what? What is this?
How long has this been in the game?
I'm on day 506 and it's literally the first time I've seen this.0 -

Of course that's really besides the point, because as others have said anything short of a pop-up mentioning the coming changes is at best lazy, at worst sinister. If Rag's redesign and a sale plug are worthy of a MOTD, so are major changes to highly used and desired characters. If you don't want people to think you're ****, stop being ****. If you don't care, keep doing what you're doing. Working as intended.0 -
It's actually surprising they don't make you login in to one of those news pages like most games do.0

Square wrote:People should wait until March 23 to complain, when the nerf goes live. The buff announcement for Rags went up when he had been buffed. The sale announcement went up when the sale had started. I don't remember them giving a one-week in advance heads up of changes to the game.0

Transliterated: "Yes, we do advertise in a small corner in the very back of the building that the articles you are about to buy are likely to spontaneously combust, crumble or otherwise expire or cease to be in a few days time.
Unfortunately not many customers bother to look behind the cobwebs and misarranged shelves back there, but thankfully some of our customers do still stumble in there every now and again and everyone there is delighted whenever they do. We're sorry we don't have clear signage that indicates the existence of that additional section, but we're working hard on getting those signs ready and posted. Could be any day now!"
I would say "Epic Failure", but I really don't know what Epic's been doing wrong of late. And this feels more like a purpose flipping of the bird disguised beneath the thin veneer of a pseudo-apology, which was never Epic's thing anyway. Feels more like a Ubisoft Failure, really. (Incase you didn't quite get it: yes, I am comparing your response to the current bottom-of-the-PR-barrel in the industry.)Blergh wrote:It's actually surprising they don't make you login in to one of those news pages like most games do.0 -

I have been playing for almost a year and never even thought to look in there for anything. I would think some instructions like what others have suggested would suffice.0 -
Do you really want to give them ideas?
Even if I was suggesting the idea that they use a news page for important updates, sales pitches, and just general on-goings in the office... do you think they'd listen to me? And if so, do I get a job, and an office and stuff? (The suggestion about sales pitches was just in case there is an office going.)
It is just really surprising they don't have one, when you think about it. And notice it. And stuff.0 -

You have to be kidding me. Sure, this isn't Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy level obscure but it's as close as I've ever seen for a game. I doubt even 1% of the playerbase knew they could find updates there. It's absurd that you thought that was a good response.0 -

Ah, but you're not thinking like a business man. If the reaction from forumites are indicative of how the mass public of MPQ players will react to the upcoming character changes and a good bulk of the player base quit as a result, then the best way to maximize profit from these soon-to-quit players is to entice them to spend money BEFORE the changes occur. Hence, a 30% sale on iso/hp the week before these changes are enacted.
Unethical? undoubtedly. But VERY profitable.0 -

Have you played the PC version of the game at some time? Try experiencing the way they handle web requests for stuff like the help page: minimizing the game and launching your actual web browser. Used to be that you couldn't even go back to the game without closing down the opened browser, which was great fun when you had 10+ tabs open and the game decided to then add one more tab and hold your entire browser session hostage.
DO - NOT - WANT !!0 -
Good lord. It's buried inside the Help menu?? I'm just shy of 400 days and I've never thought to look there for anything.0
