I honestly feel like this is intentional, which is a shame. People on the forum have been clamoring for an HP sale for awhile now. There had been no signs of any sale.... Until they announce the biggest nerf since patchneto. Surely the timing can't be coincidental, can it?

So i clicked the gears, pressed help, selected "What's new in MPQ" and i get prompted with a question, was this article helpful YES NO.
  • They only announce things that make money (HP sale..)
Sad they announced Ragnarok with new skills but nothing about the upcoming nerfs. Indeed they trying to milk money without the ppl knowing. I find it sickening the that the HP sale just happened just before the big nerf.

People should wait until March 23 to complain, when the nerf goes live. The buff announcement for Rags went up when he had been buffed. The sale announcement went up when the sale had started. I don't remember them giving a one-week in advance heads up of changes to the game.
So you're totally cool with people seeing the big "SALE" popup, buying some HP and then exchanging them for IF and GT covers because they didn't go searching high and low in the submenus for news about upcoming nerfs??
Yeah, people make out like everyone is buying covers for Thor and IF or they were just about to. I don't believe that. I doubt it's even 5% of the people buying hp doing that. Maybe 1%? Probably less? Everyone in my alliance, in our team brother alliances, in my old alliances, rarely buy covers. I've bought two in a year. I think this board is overloaded with people freaking out over very little, and it's important for some counterpoint discussion to balance the hyperbole. I really don't worry about it one bit.

If I were a developer, I'd be ready to tell this whole forum off. There's no point in trying to reason with people here.

Out of a sense of decency and good business practice, please put up an in-game notice to alert everyone of these changes.

The character balance post went in-game the same day it was posted in the forums. You can find it by selecting the gear icon/Help/"What's New In MPQ."

Unfortunately, it can be hard to find, because of this, we will be putting up a new message of the day tomorrow that notifies all players of the impending changes. We sincerely appreciate the feedback we get and hope you can understand that this was an unfortunate oversight and not meant to be misleading in any way. The sale was scheduled months in advance and the timing has nothing to do with the current balance adjustments. Despite how it may seem to some, we are trying to provide the best in game experience we can for everyone. We believe that once the changes go live and you have a chance to adjust, you'll see that the changes are in the best interest of keeping the game alive and well for the long term.

I fixed your pr fail. You can hire me for part time pr work if you need help, i'll work for iso. iso8.png

You do realize that the majority of their revenue comes from token and cover sales right? The forum makes up only a minute percentage of the playerbase, so your spending habits are in no way representative of what most people do. One of IceIX's old data-sharing posts regarding which characters people spend HP on the most was something like 1. IM35, 2. 2* Captain America, 3. 2* Wolverine.

Just think about what you can spend HP on in this game, and break it down. Covers, packs, shields, health packs. Only a sliver of the playerbase shield hops or buys health packs. That only leaves two other possibilities. And whenever there is a sale, history has shown that MPQ gets a spike in revenue. All those people buying HP have nowhere else to use it but covers or packs.

Re: "I don't remember them giving a one-week in advance heads up of changes to the game."
The Ragnarok nerf was totally out of the blue and probably caused the biggest forum uproar relative to the size of the forum in this game's short history. This directly led to them announcing the 2* Thor/Wolverine changes several weeks in advance with a "FUNBALANCE" pop-up. So it has happened before, perhaps during a time when D3 cared less about money and more about its players.

Particularly to the regular and semi-regular forumers here, I'm semi surprised you are surprised by any of this.

Has customer service and awareness at the broader level ever been handled clearly or well in this game for as long as you have played it?

Dozens and dozens of people have suggested all sorts of random things and the common response is like their template email responses - "Thanks for your feedback, we'll add it to our database" or the video response question to everything - "Yeah, we know it's an issue, we're working on it" and various dev responses that vary randomly between a bit useful and close to complete deflection.

It actually helps to not care too much and not make too much effort around here; it's just not going to get you anywhere.

Here is the schedule for the game for the rest of the year - new character, nerfs, new character, new character, updated feature, new character, bug fix for team ups that no one uses, new character, new character, character balance, new feature not quite fully tested before its' released, buff, nerf, new character, new character, new character, etc. Exactly this - order to be confirmed.

There are foundational things wrong with how this game works, as a game, but the devs have no intention of changing or adapting from the plan of adding new characters and repeat.

Set your expectations low and for the most part, they'll be met.

Just because you refuse to believe something doesn't make it false. Plenty of people around here bought IF covers. Why wouldn't they? He has great abilities. What else are we going to spend HP on?

And regardless of the number of people who buy covers, that has nothing to do with the question I asked, which is about business ethics. You basically just put your fingers in your ears and went, "La la la, people don't buy covers, I can't hear you, la la la".

You should submit your resume' to demiurge asap. You're eminently qualified and would fit right in.

Well, what do you expect when your argument is based on figures you made up. Let alone, haven't posed much of actual point even with this ****. So no, you can't reason with anyone around here when there is none in your posts.

Unfortunately, it can be hard to find, but thankfully some players do check the FAQ and access the info there. As you'll see in many of the posts in "What's New" we encourage players to visit the forums. We don't have the ability to have working links in the "Message of the Day," but that functionality is on schedule to be added soon.

    LOLOLOLOLOLOL

I don't know what is more pathetic:

    1. That in-game pop ups appear for sales & sweepstakes, but NOT for the upcoming nerfs
    2. Your response
    3. Thinking your response is acceptable
    4. Admitting this information is hidden like a needle in a haystack and considering that acceptable

In game notifications were provided for the "Thorverine" nerf a year ago and prior to the "True Healing" change. D3 has the ability, you're just choosing not to post it.

Most will reach the conclusion that D3 is being intentionally deceitful.

Didn't you quit this game a week when the nerf were announced? Or did you just promise you would and can't leave? Leave if you're going to leave.

Sorry I down voted one of your posts this week for whining, I guess your post here is you teaching me a lesson?

You're right, I don't know how many people will buy 4hor and IF covers during the sale. I think it's going to be a hell of a lot less than those who complain about it on the D3 forums. I really wish D3 would share the statistics so we could compare the number of complainers about being deceived on the forum vs. the actual number who are deceived during the sale. It would be illuminating.

Yeah I did leave the game just not the forum. I'm interested to see how they are going to handle this. And If by whinning, you mean detailing this exact situation they got themselves into several days ago. Giving them the benefit of doubt and showing an easy solution that would have avoided all this negativity. Then yeah, I'll wear that mantle I suppose. I would also suggest you re-read that thread because it doesn't seem like you read it once before resorting to name calling.

D3 certainly did provide a pop-up notification about upcoming changes last year for the "Thorverine" nerf and when "True Healing" was coming. If I remember correctly, the Thorverine pop up was up for, like 3-4 weeks before the nerf actually went into effect.

Fair enough, I was playing at the time, but I don't recall 3-4 weeks notice on nerfs. Not to say it didn't happen, but it's been a while, and I probably wasn't paying attention.

That is about correct. I remember seeing it for like 3 weeks.

What about the large amount of 2* players wanting to buy Magneto covers? Or maybe the transitioners who want to buy Mystique, 2*Hawkeye, or 2*Storm covers since they all work very well with a maxed Purple Magneto? I'm not upset about the nerfs at all, just how they are going about releasing information on it. If I wasn't on the forums, I never would have known that Magneto was getting nerfed. I am almost all the way into 3* territory because of Stormneto + Hawkeye for the PvE events.

I would also like to point out that I never spend HP on covers, I like to try and win them in some way. However I do spend my HP on Roster slots and it makes me debate on if I want to even keep certain characters or make room for new ones, which would make me more likely to buy HP if my characters were going to work the same or if I knew what was going on.

I for one tend to stop caring entirely about things I have no expectations for. So sure we could all go find something better to do with our time, but we want the game to be as good as it can be, and there is nothing wrong with saying that out loud.

As to the "what percentage of people will really go and buy covers anyway?" Question that was asked. DOES NOT MATTER. If any players are intentionally mislead and buy something under false assumptions that is a terrible business practice and should not be condoned even if it only directly affects a few.

    Hi,

To answer a few questions about the FAQ and in-game messaging:

The in-game FAQ was added back in October, 2014 and the forums were messaged here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17984

The FAQ's "What's New In MPQ" section was added at the beginning of December, 2014.

Yes, an in-game Message of the Day regarding the character updates is on the way and is currently planned to begin on Friday.
