  • Any updates on slice 3?
  • Stupid game and your vet brackets. I am back for 3 weeks and you throw me again in the vet arena with the lions. Only 5 chars above 131 (all near 150-166) is enough to brand me a vet. I can't handle 20 nodes with 170-230 levels. I demand you un-vet me immediately. Seriously now, I miss the days I had only maxed 2*. The game was so fun. OBW/Ares/CStorm. Ah, those were the days.

Boo hoo. My highest level char is 115 and I'm in the vet bracket. I'm currently tied for 1st with 21 other people this sub. Deal with it.

Never said I was the one in the worst position in the bracket. Just that it's impossible to compete when after 1-2 matches I need 1-2 healing packs. Also, low level characters means low(er) level opponents, unless something has changed while I was away.

Slice 3 Vet bracket is at 862 now. Quite certain this isn''t going to fill before event end.
  • If we had all known about PvE scaling right from the start, we would have left all our 3* at level 94 (even with 13 covers) and PvE would have been a cake walk! Imagine that! PvP would be a challenge though...
  • So someone can update the statistic list:

    Slice 1: 250 players
    Mr Stoat: 71580 1st Place
  • With just about 24 hours and 1 sub left, my vet bracket in slice 4 is up to a whopping 835 players.

    Probably not closing.

Slice update summary (all vet brackets):

    ET1 250 (7 hours ago)
    ET2 750 (current)
    ET3 863 (11 hours ago)
    ET4 834 (1/2 hour ago)
ET5 152 (current at the time of this post)

I think we can safely say that slices 2, 3, and 4 aren't going to fill now before the event closes. For any late joiners, your best bet is slice 5 for a T150 finish, but you'd best get your skates on, as the current sub for slice 5 closes in less than two and a half hours, and you'll face an uphill (but not impossible) climb if you miss the grind at the end of the current sub.

I'm in slice vet 2 and there are 750 players in it. Are there two slice 2s?

Apologies, I cut and paste from the prior summary, which had that 800 odd number in it. I've just gone back a couple of pages, and I'm not sure where that number came from. My summary post above yours has been updated with your slice numbers. Thanks for the info!

What determines whether you're placed in the Veteran or Beginner bracket? Does join time matter?

I joined slice 3 late, but on the first day, because I was busy. I'm currently #14, 9k points behind #13. I'm on day #70 playing, so obviously all those above me have rosters that dwarf mine. I'm not too upset since I didn't expect to get top 10 for this particular event anyway, but I am wondering for future events. I'm trying my best, but it's quite an effort to do the nodes once, let alone grind them at the end of the sub-event with my current roster. If I get similar brackets, should I forget about getting top 10 for a while? Are there recommendations for getting a less competitive bracket?

Just feeling a bit discouraged at the moment.
  • Vet Slice 1 is at 274 which is consistent with the 5-6 people/hour joining since this bracket opened ~45 hours ago. I am hovering around #30 and hopefully there won't be any surprises near the end.

Top 10 is pretty tough usually, and requires a lot of dedication, in addition to a halfway decent roster. I'm 140 days in and am usually happy just getting the 3* at top 100 or 150. All my top 10 finishes have been when I joined a fresh bracket, and then had the time to grind all nodes as soon as they refreshed.

I joined the slice 1 vet bracket and started strong, but then was busy during two of the refreshes and so I missed a couple clears. I ended up taking 59th in a bracket of only 303 people.
  • I was so confident that I would be in top 50 - 4-5 hours before the end I was #30 - and I didn't even bother checking the game in the last hours. I open the game and I see # 50 of 302. Phew, that was close. What a crazy bracket.

Since morph3us is updating total brackets: last vet slice 5 bracket is at 215.

Narkon - Saw you in mine. I moved up from 59 or so into 47. Had to do almost 3 full clears on that last set to get into top 50. Joining on this last slice, albeit a much smaller group, was a much more difficult experience for me than joining a bit earlier (say, a day or two in the prior slice). It was like the same amount of effort I would have put in but all concentrated in 2 days. When I did my first clear in this slice, I knew something was wrong when I was rank 100 out of 150...

    Join time doesn't matter.

We're not entirely certain exactly how Veteran/Beginner seeding occurs, but it does appear to be based on your past performances in previous PvE events. The better you perform, the more likely you are to be seeded into the veteran bracket. As an example, when I first started playing, I was routinely T2 or T10, and consequently was moved into a vet bracket. I've backed off on the PvEs quite a bit now, since I can't spare the time to optimally clear for a week, and am placing T50 fairly consistently, which is still keeping me in the vet bracket. I'd imagine if you're placing well enough for a top 5-10% placement, you'd end up in a vet bracket.

Bear in mind that veteran/beginner seeding isn't roster dependent. It's actually easier, in terms of scaling, to clear your nodes in PvE with a maxed 2* roster, than it is with, say, a maxed 3* roster plus some 4*s. The thing that really changes when you move from beginner to veteran is people's understanding of the metagame, which is to say, you're likely to be matched up with players that understand what the optimal node clear sequence is, how to grind down the nodes at the end, and are more likely to be committed enough to hit every node refresh when it ticks over. That's pretty tough competition.

I do know that if you take a break from the game, you eventually will drop from the veteran bracket back to the beginner bracket again. I'm not entirely certain how long that is, but it's at least in the order of a month. Once you drop back to beginner, it takes about three events before you move back up again (if you're placing well when you restart).

Edit: Just to clarify, join time doesn't affect whether you get seeded into a vet or beginner bracket. Obviously it matters a lot in terms of placing T10, since it's hard to catch up if you miss a node refresh or two (and god forbid an entire sub).

In other news, the last vet slice bracket is now at 266 players, with eight and a half hours to go.
The leader is our good Trisul, at 49810 (with Fortch hot on his heels, good luck Trisul!).
I'm currently in 39th, so I can't see what score you'd need to place T150 for a single Iron Fist cover, so join at your own risk.

I won't update the other brackets, since some of them have finished, and the others are even less relevant in terms of placing.
