Goon AP Notification

  • Yes, I'll say the same things that everybody else.
It is horrible, makes me want to stop playing goon nodes completely (even that they are my favourites)
It is really annoying that it is so bright, big and in the middle of the playing board. (Once when game starts would be enough) Ap generation skills shoud read in the info of goon that you get by clicking him.

Oh and please make it go away really soon! Cant wait to get rid of it!

This is hands down their worst update to the game since changing the healing mechanic. Makes matches against goon NPCs horrificly slow
  • I don't think anyone would have batted an eye if this feature was in the game since the beginning, but now it just seems painfully slow. Why isn't the already existing "little black banner" of AP gain/loss sufficient?

Essentially reiterating what everyone has said on every page. Please revert. We all knew goons gathered AP. It's too disruptive visually, and OMG the time wasted between moves on goon nodes--not to mention the drag it applies to NON-GOON NODES--is intolerable.

Please, please take this one back to the drawing board.
  • I'm in agreeance with everyone, the banner for minions movement is throwing me off my game and takes too long to finish a simple move. They need to either find a way that users that like the feature can keep it and the rest of us can turn it off.
Just wanted to put my two cents in since the developers are monitoring our complaints.

Seriously, why have you added this? Who does it benefit? Are you really catering for your loyal player base here?

And who do you think wants to know this info, every turn? We want as fast a game as possible, factor that into your equations!

I just can't imagine any single reason why you would implement this, and think that you should shoot the guy that thought this up.

To me, the craziest thing about this whole update is that they did it on a Friday afternoon, and then went home for the weekend. I mean: I get that they weren't expecting it to be controversial (their first mistake), but making a major gameplay change on Friday afternoon? That's like, a real-world programming 101 mistake. Just... why? Why would they make such a stupid mistake?

Indeed; at my company we never release on Friday unless we absolutely can't avoid it (for example, a hotfix is necessary). A Friday release that primarily incorporates new features is almost unheard of.
  • D3, i am not hopping into the bandwagon, but nevertheless, my OWN opinion is: goon banners are not cool. not cool at all.

they slow down the experience and are just a sore to the eye! we appreciate ur effort, but i think we much rather see new and cool animations for some attack "cough COTS cough"

I will say that the banner would be helpful to a new player. I didn't quite understand the goon AP mechanic for a little while as a new player, but it becomes unnecessary after a week of playing or so. An option to turn it off in the next patch is just fine icon_e_smile.gif

I'll say it again. This is what tutorials are for.

Ill add on to the general consensus pile. This goon notification is absolutely horrible. It almost makes those nodes unplayable. I also don't see any need that was addressed with this change. Complete failure in addressing a need (there was none) and implementation (how did this get through testing?).

For a truly horrible experience try a goon node with Falcon, a hurt Laken and red gem rich Blade. The amount of flashes each turn is seizure inducing. Please send out a change to make an option immediately (roll back to R69 if necessary). Two weeks until R71 is too long to wait and will make a major part of PVE unplayable for that time period.
  • I know newbs complained about not knowing where this mysterious AP was coming from but you could just as easily make a very small STATIC number next to the goon portraits for their regeneration. We didn't need a damn flash animation EVERY FREAKING ROUND.

On that note, please put your energy into showing the AP totals for the enemy on mobile without having to swipe to the side every time. It's completely irritating
  • A lot of people here don't seem to realize the the active forum users make up a relatively small portion of the player base. There many many more players that probably put in support tickets to voice complaints/concerns. This change is surely a response to those people. I appreciate the devs continuing to try to improve the experience for all players, not just forumites.

I don't really see this as a huge problem. I can understand how it might get annoying and ought to have an option to disable, but honestly I like the reminder that there's a goon feeding Ares because I often forget I have to expect hits from him even when I"m denying his colors. The extra 10-20 seconds spent per node seems like pretty small thing to make such a big deal over.

It might not be the best solution but it's hardly game-breaking.

I think the best solution would involve displaying enemy AP totals without having to scroll over constantly.

Only the guy from Memento would need a reminder after every move.

    So bad. So very bad.
  • It cracks me up how salty you people are
  • This is great for new players that have no idea how AP is generated by goons, but there needs to be a setting to disable this. It's not giving me any helpful information and just taking up time between matches. Or maybe just change it to flash once at the start of the match or something.

    Dear Marvel,
This was really interesting. Now I can that some baddies get gems every turn for free. But how come they have powers if I can't get H.A.M.M.E.R. Lieutenant as a character? Also, maybe you could show some more information? Like what is their name? Do they have a family? What is it that drove them into their career? Do they know that they are fighting against Superheroes? Also, what is their favourite food. And do they like pancakes or waffles?

    Than kyou Marvel.
P.S Can I get some free gold coins? icon_e_wink.gif

People probably wouldn't have batted an eye. But MPQ has delightfully fast gameplay compared to most other match 3 games, even the original Puzzle Quest titles. I recently tried "Gems of War" and got two matches in before the slow animations turned me away. I personally would like the option in MPQ to turn off the animations altogether, even though I like most of them. But in this case, watching the goon AP notification, plus all the passive alerts like Daken's and Hood's etc, the "delightfully fast gameplay" thing is no longer true until this is fixed.
