Goon AP Notification
Do you know what would improve MPQ?
How about a slow and annoyingly repetitive AP notification banner EVERY SINGLE TURN as if you can't remember the goons are making AP from a single notification?
SAID NO-ONE EVER!
Please, for the love of my sanity make it possible to turn this pain in the tinykitty off in the options menu. If that's too tough make it a one off notification at the beginning. If that's too tough just remove it entirely.

Seriously. This needs to be made optional immediately. Slows down NPC fights immensely.0

Aha, I bet this is what is causing the annoying pause even when there are no goons. I haven't played a goon node yet, but regular PVP nodes have annoying pauses after every AI move now.
Confirmed: I just went and played a goon node and the pause is exactly the same except they throw that annoying banner up with goons.
I'm pretty sure this 'feature' is to try and cut down on tickets where people are complaining about goons getting too much AP. It would have been much simpler and less taxing on the game flow if they just put up a static 'card' behind each goon that shows what they generate. i.e. +1 +1
I'm with the OP. PLEASE let us turn this ridiculous feature off and please optimize your code so you don't effect the timing of non goon nodes as well.0 -
Holy cow.. No kidding. This is a TERRIBLE feature. And the best part about it is.. you still get the little flash notification in the top right corner that says for example -4 and THEN you have to see in the middle of the screen; Goon 1 +2 Goon 2 +2
It's horrible. This is the worst game mechanic add-on I've seen D3 do yet. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us turn it off!!!0 -
I have not updated yet. But if they were going to show all that, a little bar below it with the AI's AP would be nice so I don't have to scroll over each turn.0

Thanks for the feedback! We'll be adding a option to the options menu to turn this off in R71.0
-
It is nice to see it the first time so that you know what you are up against, so that might be a decent option instead of having it just be always on or always off.0

Just strip it out entirely. Nobody in a sane state of mind would ever want AP notification placed in the game like this.0 -
What if you guys updated the goon's active abilities to have a passive mentioning the AP generation? i.e. For the Grenadier, it would read:
Rocket: 10
An explosion rocks the battlefield, destroying nearby tiles and dealing X additional damage to all targets.
(PASSIVE) At the end of each turn, the Grenadier generates 2 AP
Also, my two cents, the banner is highly unnecessary for PC users because we have visuals on both team's AP reserves at all times.0 -
Argh! This is seizure inducing! Makes goon nodes totally unplayable for me.0

Just so long as turning it off also eliminates the pause between turns when there are no goons present as well.
I mean, that shouldn't be there even if it's enabled to begin with. But if technical limitations won't let you remove the pause, then make sure that when it's disabled the pause is gone (since presumably it'this UI element isn't ever tracking anything when it's disabled).0 -
So they can push new features into the game mid-event but they cant change node refresh times?
That makes sense, how?0 -
Oh wow, that's slow. Thank you Will for adding an option in 71. I'm going to update as soon as I can.
Can there be a 70.1 release??0 -

Why does this keep happening? You implement a new feature which has major flaws no delete for team-ups, no visible cooldown timer on shields, and now a banner which wreaks havoc with game play that I never saw anyone ask for.
You guys really need to have a group of players beta test something before it rolls out. It would make things go so much better so these kind of obvious errors don't have to be suffered by every player for two or three updates until you fix it.
The testing you do in-house has now shown repeatedly you do not play the game the way we play the game.0 -

Thank geebus! It is just moving far too slowly!0 -
Thanks lazy players for requesting this! Because it was way too hard to just watch what the AI matched and keep track in your head and scroll when necessary. We now have to deal with this nonsense.
It's hard enough trying to clear a sub event (multiple subs!) during work day without tacking minutes onto the process.0 -

This is not just a D3 thing. This is a common mentality I see in games. It seems to me most developers would be classified as ultra casual so they don't particular care if 2H 24M grinds are destroying people's life because they'd never do something like that. They don't really care if some nasty infinite combo dominates PvE or that Thor/X Force is all you see in PvP because they probably place #278 in an event and never see either. If this week one of the devs call in sick for the week because he got to grind out Star-Lord they might understand why people really wanted the 8H refresh instead, but I'm assuming nobody in D3 did that. I think the perspective of the hardcore is way overrated by the players, but you can't have a development team with no hardcore perspective. I remember emailing a lead dev in EQ1 asking why does he think people will continue to pay $30 an year for an expansion and $15/month and still unable to do content from 3 years ago and his response was "Why shouldn't people continue to pay $15/month to not be able to do 3 year old content? I sure was never able to do them either when I played." Now, note that this perspective is obviously ultra casual. This is probably a guy who plays a MMORPG and use it as a chat room so of course he doesn't care that he's not able to beat content 3 years ago all this time, and I think that is a very common perspective for developers.0 -

I'm normally not the kind of person to complain when a developer makes a change to a game that doesn't go over well, I know that sometimes things that seem like a good idea when testing just don't work when then get implemented. That being said, I'm going to be that kind of person on this. It took one, single attack on a node to determine 1) this slows the game down horribly and 2) having a menu flash completely across 1/4 of the puzzle blocks a player's view to analyze the board properly after their turn completes impacts their ability to properly analyze the changes that just occurred on the board. This isn't something that should be left until the next full revision, this is something that should be removed ASAP and then implemented differently with the option to turn it on/off on the next revision.0

Wow, yea. That is UNBEARABLE...every turn??. When can we expect the R71 update, cuz this is making the PvE almost unplayable. Don't y'all test stuff first? If anyone had played that before release it would never have made it out the door...0
