Goon AP Notification

Personally I'm grateful for the opportunity to make a cup of coffee between moves. Sometimes it's even cool enough to drink by the time I can click on something.
As an added bonus, now I can't sleep and can grind nodes all night long.
What would make it perfect is if the refresh times of the nodes was less than the time it takes to play a match. Almost there...
:edit: fixed typo, fingers trembling...0 -

Imagine having to hit the skip button every single turn you play. That's how bad this change is0 -
Once again the rage that people muster up for game changes is hilarious and highly entertaining
With that said...AAARGH. Yes please make it stop. I appreciate you guys always tweaking the game in response to user feedback, but if this was actually a player suggestion please delete that player's xforce or something0 -
Just quoting their excuse and my reply from " The All-New PVE Refresh Times" thread where they state that it would be weird to change thing mid-run...Dr Spaceman wrote:Demiurge_Miles wrote:Unfortunately, it's too late to update Thick as Thieves (that would make things really weird as it's mid-run) but you can be sure that the next PVE event will run with 8hr refresh times.
Err, you guys have a long and notorious history of changing things "mid-run" when it suits you, so I question the veracity of this claim.
Demiurge, you are hypocrites of the highest order and the sheer disrespect you show towards your playerbase is staggering, mind-blowing, breathtaking.
Granted this change "mid-run" is annoying but far more annoying is the fact that you continue to make changes "mid-run" when it suits you and then have the gall to use it as an excuse for not rolling back unpopular changes, again, when it suits you.
Total **** move.0 -
I have to agree with the general sentiment. While a cool effect, it quickly (like, the second or third time you see it) becomes annoying. Either make it JUST the first round so you know what you're getting yourself into, make it optional or just get rid of it all together.
Another option might be to have it wipe across the top and not interfere with your ability to make your next move. (I actually vote for ANYTHING that interrupts your ability to make your next move be either sped up or adjusted, like when there's attack icons on the board, or the delay when Human Torch's green power goes off even if the player/NPC has no green power. All these things that delay you being able to make your move after the opponent's attack is finished are awkward and could use some rethinking)0 -
I don't mind that you attempted to address this issue - I've heard a number of people who were confused by the goon AP generation in the goon+hero nodes. But you really need to be doing everything you can to speed up the game, not to slow it down. There's already an inconsistency in that I can make my next match through some of the animations, while others block all user input even when there's no reason for them to - like Dormammu's Aid. Why do I have to wait for like 2 seconds while that little banner showing the AP loss/gain is still visible? With the way that this game is constructed, you need to be streamlining the heck out of every aspect of it. Seconds matter! I like to see the pretty art, but not at the expense of slowing down the game.
Seriously, it's just the delays in playing the game that annoys people. I don't mind being reminded of the AP generation with an unobtrusive little graphic/animation that would show up above/below the goon's head. But don't block me from playing the game while it's happening.0 -
Upon reading this thread. I've reached a conclusion.
Yawn.
Mountain. Mole hill.
Y'all seem to be having fun, so far from me to rain on good ranting. For me this is just a meh, so no rant from me on this one. But I'll join Y'all again if something more exciting comes up I.e. death brackets, umm.... actually that is all that currently comes to mind. While a bit slow at times, seems to be mpq been doing a great job of delivering.
There's got to be more than death brackets. I guess if they ran a pve with 8 hour refreshes with three subs open at once. I dunno. Kind of rather mpq not find new things for me to rant about.0 -
This change is worse than the change to true healing to me. At least when they changed that, the overall gameplay remained the same. Now, I can't get past a goon match in less than 5 minutes because that idiotic banner keeps popping up. And of course they roll this out on a Friday so we have to live with this **** throughout the weekend.0

I think they meant it would mess up scores. If some players had to play the first half with 3 hr refreshes while others got the whole, or most of the event, with 8 hrs, it would cause no end of trouble.0 -
I don't think this is anything to do with this game, but a developer mentality across all in-app purchse games.
For some reason, every single game I have played where in-app purchases rule features utterly pointless changes to gameplay that forum players hate, and have never actually requested.
It is always this kind of stuff that leads me to quit a game and find another. Then the same thing happens.
Developers are ruled by the money bosses who insist in changes that the accountants have worked out will inevitably lead to an increase in income. We won't know why, but the annoyance created somehow leads to greater spending as we feel frustrated and spend money to enhance gameplay in other areas.
Tired of PvE because of the delay? Then increase effort in PvP where you will pay more.

This update has made playing insufferable... Not only is it bad enough I'm grinding every 3h and it's IMPOSSIBLE to catch up to top 5 players who have lvl 40 rosters with only 1 cover on each 3* character (Nvm the fact I've spent like 700$ and rising to develop my roster only to come behind these F2P players) but now it's going to be an even painstakingly long event and the kicker is I won't even make top 5...
With all that we definitely need to be seeing things that speed gameplay up. Using characters like Daken, patch, hood, spidey, bullseye are just a pain. Every turn you gotta sit through 4-5 seconds of healing and AP stealing. I won't even use or level those characters for just that reason. Blade seems to be an exception because his animation is pretty quick.0 -
One more thought, from the perspective of a behavioural psychologist (which I am).
It is not going to work because a), after a couple of notifications, we will all stop viewing the banner as the information will become repetitive. This means as we gain no further information, we stop looking, looking only past the banner at our next move. We won't even decide to do this, our visual system will simply make us do this automatically, and only an effort will get us to read the banner. But as there is no new information, we will stop very quickly.
And b), because the information is already available within what was normal gameplay. When the banner has passed, and you see the tokens on the board it is easy to know what colours have been used.
In Scotland Yard, for example, when playing the three goons, the board becomes littered with yellow and blue attack tiles. So why in the name of all that is holy do we need a banner telling us the goons are taking yellow and blue points?
WE CAN SEE THEY ARE.
Telling me, each and every time (ffs) that they take 2 yellow and 2 blue is, well, just stupid.
I hate it, and more importantly, my brain hates it. So make it stop.0 -
I have JUST found mii new thing to help me fall asleep.
Match
pause. Hmmm, still waiting. Let me turn on the radio.
Yup, still waiting.
Ok, Match
Oh damn gotta wait again. *YAWWWWWWWWWN*
Match
pause. You know what? tinykitty it I'm gonna take a nap and come back when this game decides it wants me to move again...

Was wondering if you can do a patch instead of the R71 update for now. Assuming R71 update will not come out right away, a patch would be the quickest resolution to this problem. Its almost to the point i skip the goon nodes to avoid the wait.0

Thank you. Now I know what a website feels like if I have to click on a beeping popup every single page.
And the popup is on a timer too, nah, you can't close it until you've seen it for a few seconds.
While you are at it, while don't you just slow down all animations as well? I mean, I *really* want to see all those Daken swords popping up, just slower.0 -
It's not only Goon notifications, the pause in normal matches is infuriating too. I don't need it, it just slows it down, it's unfun. You have long time complains from mobile users that you can't see totals unless you scroll over each turn, why not fix it at same time? Make enemy AP visible all times above health bars, after each round make the numbers flash with '+X' when they change for moment. And most importantly - don't block user imput during that time, let us match immidietly0

I'm not sure if I'm bugging out, but I can no longer tell which countdown tile applies to which goon. Can someone else please confirm or tell me what I'm doing wrong?0

kozmikpr wrote:Man, you people over there are just batting a 100 with these tweaks and characters. First nut gurl with all of her very OBVIOUS terms that suggest lewd and obscenity, then you tag Daveomites pic for being 'non-compliant', now this?!?!?!?! What are you people smoking over there??? So far, with the banner shooting across the screen to 'show' us the goons and soldiers AP accumulation. Why did you guys add that? I really don't get it. To start, we already knew that they were automatically generating AP each turn. Secondly, that banner shooting across the screen is just god-awful ANNOYING as all hell. Personally, I really don't care to see what AP is being added to their status as a simple swipe across the screen allows me to view what they have. I mean, if anyone is too lazy to swipe their screen and complain about 'Oh no, I don't know how much AP the goons have', then something is wrong with them. Again, why you ladiez and germz at D3 added this is beyond my comprehension. It's very annoying, irrelevant, and a complete waste of server data that could be used to incorporate elsewhere in the game. It delays the game by seconds (which you would know if someone actually put any thought into this inane idea)!!! Please remove this crazy banner shooting across the screen. It does NOT improve the game in any way. Thank you.
Yeah, asking to see the enemy AP and not wanting to swipe every turn is lazy0 -
I am fine with the previous notification design and please make sure to kill the pauses.
I would say the new notification really eliminating the fun-factor of playing the game, especially during the last hour of events/tournaments where many people surely like to feel the adrenaline rush of beating as many rounds as possible..0 -
After hitting skip all day yesterday my phone updated on its own last night. This is unbearable. Running with Patch and Blade, every turn Goon pop up, Healing Factor, Thirst. I just want to make my next move. This has completely destroyed the flow of the game0
