After such a positive response to the pvp progression change, they had to do something to keep their thriving pitchfork business going by removing seed teams.

- A little less math for you! When you’re choosing an ending time for an Event, the display of the time left until the Event starts or ends now includes days instead of just hours. Instead of seeing “31h 59m” left, you’ll see “1d 7h 59m.”

Can we start a sub-forum of people that complained about seed teams, so that we can publicly flog them?0

Losing seed teams blows.
And yay for Star-Lord, but boo for him being a 4*. What is the star ranking based on? Box office? Obviously not, or Elektra would be a 1*. But seriously, 4*?0 -

Ditto. The only way I can even partially keep up with the ISO needs in this game is the LR's. The only way I can run the LR's with even a little success is seed teams.
If this change means eliminating seed teams entirely from the game, I honestly don't know how I could continue playing. I would guess at least 2/3rds of all my ISO through the entirety of my time in the game has come from the LR's.0 -

This does *help* conform 4*'s to leadership characters.
Wolverine has led XForce
Fury is the Director of SHIELD
Elektra has led The Hand
Sue Storm has led the Fantastic Four
Starlord leads the Guardians of the Galaxy
Devil Dinosaur does what he likes. Also was/is/will be a joke character, so I'm okay with making an exception.
This currently makes Th4r the real exception - although on the comics front we haven't really seen her do anything much yet, so who knows?
I know the reality is that 4* really just represents a rarity for that particular version of that particular character, but it would be nice if this tier did represent those heroes in their "leading" roles.0 -
Curious... I have never seen the super pressing issue of "too many seed teams!!" being raised in the forums, so I'm guessing one person once said that in some random thread. It's nice to see how promptly they addressed that issue even at the cost of not addressing other issues raised by hundreds of players over the best part of a year.
On the goon AP display: that huge yellow ribbon is an eyesore. Cannot we just have the same discreet display we see when opponent PCs obtain AP from a match? We really don't need a breakdown of which goon generated what, just to keep tabs on how much AP the AI is gaining.0 -

I'd say the actual reason (given there is no stated justification for anyone appearing at any particular rank) is that they just needed to make another 4*, given their earlier statement that they were realising a lot of them in the time ahead. Nothing more, nothing less. I'd really like it to make sense as well, but it's just not there.0 -
Why are you taking away these "seed teams?" There was nothing wrong with them! Do you guys at D3 even know what you are doing, or is this game just a big trial and error for you? And that banner is good, but the yellow color should be changed so that it's not so garish.0

Even if they only get three free wins against Pyromantic & Co. ever event, that's a big help for somebody who'd otherwise get just one or two contested wins per event. Think about this - it's not like anybody's going to buy ISO to make up the difference, we'll just get bored sooner.
I was able to accumulate a nice stockpile of iso and tokens that I was able to get my 2* roster built up with enough covers.
Now that I'm in the 2* -> 3* transition, I still do the same though my stash of iso is slowly dwindling due to my heavy use of boosts now that I play PvP and my token luck is currently pretty poor but I have gotten a few gold tokens.
All this to say - DON'T TAKE AWAY THE SEED TEAMS!0 -
I'm curious if the lose of seed teams may be better for MMR. My logic here is this; normal nodes are generally worth more points, so we'll hit higher point values sooner, but we'll get there with less wins - so in theory because of how traditional MMR works, we should get to higher scores than before, before we hit whatever "wall" we hit before.0

Losing seeds teams means losing basically 50-100 gimme points. It's interesting that the rewards tiers were lowered similar amounts, n'est-ce pa? A little slight of hand? Devilishly clever.
Also, please don't do this. I loves me my seed teams. The suggestion that "people expect to play against real people" sounds like a bad excuse for simply wanting to phase them out for other reasons. And, besides, what if they're real to me? Because they are, man! They're real to me!
*sobs, hopes it's working*0 -
I'm pretty sure the widely known behavior of farming LRs is responsible for removing the seed teams as opposed to the one guy who didn't like fighting them. I'm sure they must have initially started thinking, 'who would possibly just fight seed team over and over again for iso?' and finally realized the answer is 'a lot of people'.0

Believe it or not, I didn't even notice that he was a 4* and not a 3* when I checked the PvE event tab earlier!!
(not sure it will change the timing of my entry though )0 -
stephen43084 wrote:Since seed teams are being nerfed; I'm hoping that's because lightning rounds/PVP's will all be double iso. The only other conclusion is that the developers are trying to make scarce iso even more difficult to come by. Even they cannot be that devious...
This thread is very ironic towards your signature. I blame you for this!0 -
So basically the whole forum is Korath the Pursuer?
"Star-lord, legendary four-star."
"Who?"
"Legendary" is even in his title. It makes perfect sense to make him a fourstar!
(No, I don't like it either).0 -

Another voice to vote for these lovely seed teams to stay.
I can still remember my old days as a newbie in Lightning Rounds vividly like it's just happened yesterday. Loaner was my tank and then I focus on killing those lv1 lv2 ironman-hawkeye and then it's loaner+ my two 1*s vs their loaner, one step closer to get to 100 pts for those valuable iso and a chance at getting a 2* cover drop. Without these seed teams, it will just slow down the process of getting some 2* covers for beginners and make them experience such difficulty. I'm sure only a handful of "new" players are using the forum, so most of the new players will have no way to know what's like before with seed teams around. But the fact still remains that you guys are going to increase the difficulty for the low level players by a lot due to this change. (unless the 2x iso from PvP starting to apply to somewhere else like you guys mentioned in Q&A section last month about "looking into" adding a way to add more iso drop for players, then that would at least help to mitigate this change of taking seed teams out).0 -
With D3, it's always like this :
Announcement for something positive, and then, announcement for something very negative.
Less seed teams means less Iso for everyone. When everyone has been claiming the main problem is the lack of Iso.
They probably expect players to buy more Iso, but that won't happen. $600 worth of Iso to max Starlord (It used to be $800 before the 1st of July) ? Are they out of their mind ?
There will be less and less whales "needing" 4* to stay competitive.
I don't see Starlord entering the metagame overnight, just like Elektra.
I maxed Elektra because there were those Lightning Rounds, and I could win tons of Iso with her, but if that's not the case with Starlord, I'll just leave it as he is, and max him when I win the covers, instead of instamax him.0 -
Thanks again! Another way to slam 2*>3* players, I'll now have no effing shot at 300 points for my 250 iso (since token pulls r **** anyway). Think I may quit pvp alltogether, busted my **** this season for the 10-pack SPOILER ALERT: ALL 2*0
