Upcoming Changes to Versus Rewards

I have to wonder who this really helps.
The main focus should be the 3-4 progression because as of currently there isn't such a thing.
Mainly this helps people who already have 4s to gain more 4s even quicker.
As a 3 Star player I have yet to see how feasible it is to get to 1000. You still need to chew through 4 Star health with your lousy 3s. How would old Sentry fare against those 270 4hor Xforces?
I still would like a way to earn 4s without having to beat up people who already have them. The retaliations are instant at that point.
We will have to see how this encourages a 3-4 transition. Right now I am a bit sick of Xforce + 1 teams taking up the whole top25 and more.0 -
The point of this change is not to make it easier to reach the 3* progression reward. It is meant to address an issue introduced by the shield cooldowns. With this change, 4* should be obtainable by anyone with a strong enough 3* roster willing to put in the effort to hop towards it.
Previously, when the 3* progression reward was at 1100, I never ever scored over 1k points in PvP until I was totally out of the transition stage. I had over half dozen maxed 3* by the time I was able to reach that reward. This reward is in my opinion meant to help those with a decent 3* team to finally be able to max out other 3* characters and not meant to help in the transition. The change to 900 points seems like it is meant to continue this trend.
As for the 2*->3* transition, that's a different story. When I was transitioning, they used to run the same heroic back to back with the same rewards which made it easier to get hold of those 3* covers for the same character. Emphasis should be placed on it being the same character and in a pve although it was a heroic. This made it much easier to get enough covers for the same character. This hasn't happened in a long time. Maybe because people were complaining about it? But it did make the transition to 3* easier. Fast forward to today, there needs to be a means to allow a transitioning player to get multiple covers for the same character within a short period of time as this will greatly help them in the transition.0 -
As someone who became a Sniper due to the horrible PVP matchmaking (always lost ~21 points/match I WON after reaching 700 - 800 pts), I previously stated that the 1100 point reward "was an illusion."
No joke, I think I'll have to see if this change has any effect on that previous assessment.
I actually wonder what my PVP record score was...? I'll repost if I find it.0 -
This is a great thing for building covers but this still doesn't fix the ISO problem for 3-4 star players. Double ISO for a single PVP event doesn't do much either when you're trying to build up hundreds of thousands of ISO just to max one character.0

Beside, I know that the only way to answer this question is to try...0 -
(I quickly skimmed these pages; if this notion has already been considered: apologies)
R70 release notes list a change to when you might see seed teams, and possibly how many seed teams you are given. I am concerned that this change to seed teams is going to have a downward pressure on scoring in PVP which might wind up invalidating this change. (This is predicated on my long-held understanding that PVP battle are zero-sum for points. For me to get 30 points by beating someone - they had to lose them.)
It might not seem significant, but, by taking away those 70 points that everyone was getting at the start of a PVP, aren't they constricting the pool of available points in the event? If an entire bracket worth of players (500 people) is not given seed teams - doesn't that eliminate 35,000 points from a given bracket's pool of available points? That's enough points for 35 people to win the 4* reward.0 -
I'm sure it's been asked - will the season rewards be changed as well? I've always been able to reach the 7500 progression before, and it looks like I won't be able to hit it this time. The other progressions have been brought down a bit, shouldn't the season progression be lowered as well?0

If it has been already asked, I missed it. Anyway, I think you're right0 -
I'll chime in with other 2* > 3* transitions. This change is a great first step at changing progression rewards, but more needs to be done for 2* transitions.
I just worked my **** off yesterday to get my highest PVP score ever at 608 (my best roster is 127 3* Captain America [who just got punted from next season, grr...] and 94 2* Daken; my other 3*s of value are Falcon at 102, Dr Oc who could be 102, and Hood who could be 140 but has 0 blue covers!). This was a *really* hard score to get to because I kept going up 20 and back down 50. I had to use a ton of ISO to even see viable candidates because I kept getting, not only full 3* opponents but full 4* opponents, which is ridiculous. In the end, I used an 8 hour shield after getting to rank 52 (150 HP is extremely expensive for this 2* transitioner). I woke up to rank 124, so it was all worthless.
My alliance is top 150, but we can't break 100, and I'm clearly of no value to a 'better' alliance.
The other thing I worry about, which warrants another post, is that I still want to play the 3* game. I don't want to be forced into the 4* game yet. I'm not ready for it, and don't want to skip the fun of 3*s.0 -

Your PVP experience will be exactly what you experienced this time - nothing but maxed 4*s from 600.
Until you have a very, very solid 3* roster, prepare to be very frustrated.0 -

Matches aren't zero-sum until the loser is at 800 points or above in a standard Versus event, or 200 points or above in a lightning round. Here's the formula for standard Versus events (it's the same for lightning rounds except stick a 200 where the 800 is):
if loser's score is >= 800: points lost = points won
if loser's score is < 800: points lost = points won * loser's score / 8000 -

My guess would be that it won't (and probably shouldn't) happen this season. They should wait until the season ends, review the meta data collected for the final scores of season 10 and compare those to the results of the past few seasons so it can be properly adjusted. That being said, it would be a nice gesture if the developers threw a few extra Heroic tokens, ISO, and/or HP our way to everyone that participated in season 10. You know, as a thank you to all of us that helped them test their new shield cool downs for the full season.0 -
This change will actually start bringing me back to the game. Making a 4* reachable in progression awards will make that transition seem doable, albeit slowly... which is fine for me. As much as I wish iso was more readily available, at least you know it will eventually come in. I was beginning to think that maxing out a 4* cover-wise was going to be near impossible for me to do, and this will go a long way in keeping my interest in the game.0

So as a transitioning 2>3 star player. I just got my highest score in pvp I have ever got. 460 and that's only because the people who attacked me lost. I usually end up in the 350 range. And even with the 460 I still ended up in rank 204. And the people next to me on the ranking all had at least one level 100 character. Most had a team of about 140 or above. My highest characters are 7 maxed 2*. So my chances at getting a 3* prize, even if I had the hp to shield hop, is squat.0

Not to sound callous, but I don't really see what your complaint is. We've all been there. Almost everyone other than those that dropped a ton of money the day they started has gone through the growing pains of maxing out 2*s then transitioning to 3*s and had to live with scores in the 200-500 range. Heck, when I started playing over a year ago it was even harder to max 2* characters as there were no occasional random cover rewards after a victory. Getting 2* covers then was almost as difficult as getting 3* covers now. Part of the fun and gratification of MPQ is working your way up from the hunted to the hunter and watching your best score improve as your roster does. The importing thing is to find a good alliance that will help you earn covers and ISO you wouldn't be able to get on your own. As you start to level your 3*s your best score will continue to improve, just stick with it and you'll be earning the higher level rewards before you know it!0 -
This won't impact me at all. With the constant barage of people ready to hit you as soon as you pass 300, getting above 400 is a waste of time for anybody that doesn't use shields. Sure you might get more iso8, but that's all it's good for.0
-
I appreciate this change, it does help a bit but for me the real issue is the event placement rewards. I had 800 points in coversquirelle and didn't even make top 50. That's way too much play time for very little reward. The risk vs reward is very unbalanced.0

Not after their retal. It's pointless to attack someone you know can grind you into the ground in a retal.0
