Upcoming Changes to Versus Rewards

    * 900 (down from 1100) - A 3-star

    After we introduced a cooldown timer between shield purchases, we began analyzing data about how this changed scores. We looked at the percentage of players reaching particular scores, the number of matches they had to play to get there, and the number of Hero Points they spent on shields to get there.

    When we looked at players reaching the progression rewards at 500 points and below, we found that cooldowns didn't have a measurable impact. There was a modest impact on scores between 500 and 700 points.

    With the statistics, and the previous statement that the 2-3* transition is not working as well as intended, what percentage of maximum 2* rosters can reach the 3* cover at 900?

    From many of the posts I have read here and on facebook, one of your main choke points of frustration is players in transition is not being able to even have a chance at the progression reward, even if shield hopping.

    Is the 3* cover not for 2* rosters to be progressing? I think you would see more revenue with the cover at something like 700, where a 2* roster has a minor chance of hopping to it. Do you lose too much revenue from established 3* rosters buying covers when they would be able to reach it at 700?

    (*and remember I want you to stay in business and prosper so I can play this game for years.)

    you should not be reaching the 3* cover with a 2* roster. The highest tiers are for the best rosters and players. It should be something you have to progress your roster and playing to attain.

    In simpler terms, if anyone could hit the progressive, why have the progressive? Might as well just give out the cover to everyone for free bc essentially that's what you'd be doing.

    So, awards should be given only to people who don't need them and should not help you in any way? In that case, why not stop giving out 4* covers so easily? Let us put those at 2000 instead.

    After this change, they’ll look like this:
    * 575 (down from 600) - 25 Hero Points
    * 650 (down from 700) - 1000 Iso-8
    * 725 (down from 800) - 50 Hero Points
    * 800 (down from 900) - An event token
    * 850 (down from 1000) - 1000 Iso-8
    * 900 (down from 1100) - A 3-star
    * 950 (down from 1200) - 1000 Iso-8
    * 1000 (down from 1300) - A 4-star
    A welcomed - and logical - change imo. In PvP I'm usually interested primarily in HP rewards. Lately, I was a bit bored with PvP and stopped most often after 600, after 800 only in more and more rare occasions. With the change I could push to 725 more frequently.
    These changes restore the percentages of players that earn the 4-star (at 1300/1000) and the 1000 Iso-8 reward (at 1200/950) to what they were before cooldowns. It looks like a few more folks will earn the rewards from the 50 Hero Points reward (at 800/725) through the 3-star reward (at 1100/900) than did before cooldowns were introduced - these were a little harder to reach than they'd ideally be before.
    I'm a bit surprised that so many here think that 4 star.png will be easier to reach than before (before shield cooldowns I mean). Of course, it was my first impression too, but Will clearly stated that the change should restore the percentage of players that earn 4 star. They don't expect an increase just the same percentage as before: those who reached 1300 before shield cooldowns should now reach 1000.

    And that's all, except if I missed something? icon_neutral.gif

    That's actually what I thought about it too but since the change is beneficial to me I'm not going to complain since now I can finish Elektra and Thor even though I don't plan on using either of them much (and probably not Elektra at all). It's not clear to me if there's supposed to be a big picture here or if it was just something to appease a specific range of players. I guess it's good if you're in the range that benefits from this, but why this range over any other? I thought they make most of their money from the transition guys and this doesn't seem to help them much.

    This change is a joke.

    Oh yes, this is a great improvement for hardcore players and solid rosters. Most of the people who read this forum will be pleased : it will be easier and faster for them.

    But what about 2-3* transitioners? What about the majority of players who won't go above 600-700pts? These players need 3 stars and there is no improvement for them.

    The 2 stars cover at 500 pts is useless : the event token at 300 pts is a better reward (at least you have a chance to win a 3 stars)! What about a 3 stars at 600 pts and a 3 stars token at 900 pts?

    I understand the "keep 4 stars out of reach of casual players" but 3 stars? Seriously?

    We all mostly agree something needs to be done for the transition process, but you are off base on this one. The same argument you make for the 2*-3* 500 reward is mostly true for the 900 reward and advanced rosters. Often we see the reward as 500 iso, but recognize, like a transitioner hitting 500, hitting 900 is something we have earned by developing our roster.

    Likewise, I do not see transitioners complaining about how their lesser scaling gives them an advantage in pve over advanced rosters.
  • If the rumors are true about the upcoming daily events, 2-3 trans players may finally have a chance.

    Until then, the devs do not care about 2-3 trans players. You should either quit or pay for covers as you will not max cover a 3* for at least 8 months.

    But but but low lvl rosters own at PVE. Enjoy your Squirrel Girl...

  • This seems like its going to turn into a 2* vs 3* conversation. Forums are where the real pvp is at. Going to grab my popcorn.

    As someone who hasn't gone past 700 in 4 months due to laziness and too many X Forces I appreciate this new change. More HP for me!

    Why does that have to be acrimonious? The devs have already acknowledged that the 2*-3* transition is problematic. Why are people who I came up to 3* land when it was easier so dead set against making it easier than it is now, especially as the endgame has moved to 4* land?

    There are a number of people who scored 7-800 that didn't have incentive to push further. Now that the fruit is hanging lower, they will do an extra hop, play a few extra battles to get those progression rewards.
  • Shouldn't season and shield rewards be tweaked as well?
  • As a 3* -> 4* transitioner whose progress was halted by shield cooldowns, THANK YOU.

    Guess I'll be spending this 2400 HP I've hoarded more efficiently.

    this is me too. trying to save 5000 hp for the last two green XF felt like a bridge too far....now i can start taking shielding decisions again rather than play with no shields/save HP mode.
  • I source +/- 600 and not much effect me but still welcome the change

    Obviously, both groups of transitioners need help. It's nice to see a move made to help one of them. Hopefully, there will be more coming, including some that target the needs of the 2*-3* peeps.

    I would have been sooo much happier about this change if I wasn't just in the game earlier and saw the release of another 4-star character. Any decrease in difficulty of obtaining a 4-star character is completely offset by the massive increase in the rate that new 4-star characters are being released at.
