It sounds like pretty much everyone's enjoyed the 8hr refreshes in this event! That's great to hear. We think that the 8hr refresh times are a good idea, but we want to get some additional data before we change the PVE standards. Since the next PVE event will reward a brand new character (And one I'm personally very excited about) we thought it wasn't a good idea to mess with the status quo. As a result Thick as Thieves is going to run next with the standard 3hr refresh times.
We will be running another event with 8hr refresh times soon. Details will follow.
Lol Trisul, my reaction exactly.
But seriously, if status quo was mainly negative with 3 hours and 8 hours was mainly positive, why not try the 8 hours for a new character? We ALREADY know how 3 hours will play out for a new character, you should have TONS of data on that already, wouldn't you want to test this out on a new character for a legit baseline to compare it against? Your logic hurts my brain.0 -

Really? As someone who didn't like the idea of 8hr refresh going in, and is still on the fence after a trial run, I think the next PVE NEEDS to be 8hr refresh.
My issue was, and has always been, how the 8hr refresh affects a hyper-competitive environment. Specifically, will people be forced to grind nodes to dust in the last couple of hours to make top 150.
New Character PVE is really the only way to test.

Don't believe so based on my bracket, I doubt you'd even have to do any grinding at all other than normal refreshes for top 150 based on The Hunt (though, maybe a bad example since a good amount of the veterans already have Fat Thor). I put my thoughts on my bracket a couple posts earlier, I'm curious to see other folks experience specific to effort and final placement.0 -
Just going to say, The Hunt and Thick as Thieves is definitely my least favorite events.0

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that everyone enjoys the 8 hr refreshes, glad to hear that you hear that we do enjoy it, and glad to hear you think they are a good idea. Probably too late to switch Thick as Thieves to an 8 hr, but one thing to note, did not have any bugs or outages or anything with 8 hr refreshes this PVE. Last PVE, there was a problem and that PVE had 3 hr refreshes. Coincidence? If it means that you'll switch Thick as Thieves to an 8 hr refresh, I think not. The 8 hr refreshes and the change to PVP progression rewards has changed my negative attitude towards the game's direction back to a positive attitude. Please continue to do things that keep the game fun, which will in turn, keep the players happy, which will in turn, keep the game going. Look forward to what's coming next.0 -
MPQ: Shields will now have an 8 hour cooldown.
Me: Ooh, that's bad.
MPQ: PVE now has 8 hour refreshes.
Me: That's good.
MPQ: PVE refreshes are back down to 3 hours for a new character release.
Me: That's bad.
MPQ: The PVP progressions have been lowered.
Me: That's good.
MPQ: The progressions contain potassium benzoate.
MPQ: That's bad.
Me: Can I go home now?0 -
I was vehemently opposed to 8 hour refreshes.
I did find this event to be particularly good for an 8 hour refresh because there were multiple subs and multiple nodes. This was also the best weekend for it to happen on since I had water problems in my basement on Friday and had to deal with them all weekend and I was still able to hit some refreshes (way late) and still am within the top 25 of my bracket.
Even though I appreciated the 8 hour refresh for this particular event, and this particular weekend, I would NOT want it to be a standard refresh rate for every PVE. I found myself absolutely frustrated at times having the time and availability to play, but still seeing a huge timer on the refresh. I did take someone's suggestion and staggered the nodes to allow me to at least have something to play every 4 hours, but it was still super boring... I love to play the game when I want to without penalty.
I think that there should be a rotation of refresh rates so that everyone gets an event at their preferred refresh rate... heck, you have time slices, maybe introduce refresh rate slices too... Yikes! Never mind... but I would definitely rather choose my refresh rate rather than my end time... Then your progression and competition is based on your preferred grind method. Have a busy week planned out? Choose the 8 hour refresh slice. Have no kids this weekend and no projects? Choose the 3 or 4 hour refresh slice...
At any rate, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but if I didn't have a water problem in my basement ruining my weekend, it would have been the 8 hour refreshes ruining my weekend. It was a nice break to have a week with fewer refreshes, but if it was every event, I would definitely stop playing completely... but since I haven't spent money on this game yet, it's probably not relevant what I do.0 -
I'm someone who when I can, will often hit optimal clears, and use that early leverage to coast to an easy 2 cover top 50 on a new character (Recently, Luke Cage). Sometimes if I have the time I'll actually grind and get all 3 (Squirrel Girl). For the current Hunt, I got the top progression reward and mostly stopped playing, just maybe doing a clear if I felt like it. Doing this test on a non-new character release may not give the best data since there are likely a lot of people like me who went easy on this since I already have Thor maxed. Doing it on a new character release (where competition is usually more intense), seems like the next logical step. So I'm disappointed that while many on here viewed it as a success, and initial reaction from the devs was positive as well, the 8 hour refresh looks like it's just going to up and vanish like a fart in the wind.
And Ebola reminded me of this:

Maybe you do - I have slept on the couch more than 1 night for making my kids cry during games.0 -

A new character and we are once again FORCED to grind our assess off? ;/ the 8-hours might be a bit too long but 3-hours is WAY WAY TOOOOO SHORT ;/ The 8-hour refreshes were actually nice - felt like I could have a life outside of grinding... not to mention less grinding = lower scaling...0 -

I'd put them way ahead of Red ISO and every single Heroic event.0 -
The 8 hr refreshes were a great change. Please keep these as a feature MPQ0

Heroics usually just depend on the roster that's open (which admittedly is usually awful, but everyone's is awful so...), but they are pretty boring, but I actually don't mind ISO-8 Brotherhood (I think that's the one you mean).0 -

Unstable ISO, maybe? The first ever PVE - it has a changing main board but no subs. ISO Brotherhood is ok.0 -

Given that they're debuting a four-star character with Thick as Thieves on a three-hour reset, I am very definitely not saying Boo-Urns. I am doing my best imitation of the old woman from Buttercup's dream in Princess Bride.

4* debut, three hour refresh. Ugh.0

Yea, so much for sleeping. Hood in every node, being fed free yellow ap, every three hours. Can't wait for turn 2 twin pistols every 3 hours...0
