A great suggestion! I only posed it as either or because that's how they are set up in the current system: Both are PVE events and because there is only 1 pve event running at any one time, they are mutually exclusive. I would love to see a weekly gauntlet running in parrallel to pve events.0 -
I HATE it!!! There are so many reasons, but 8 hrs is too long. But sadly I don't expect a change, it'll all be smoke & mirrors. Promise us something one minite & forget about it the next.0

so how about the come backer? they are forever locked out from PVE with essential ? I serious double the reasons of essential character, It never help retain players. Players quit because of boring will never come back. What the **** they will stay because a " essential character" will used in next pve ? for those want to come back, they lost whole PVE event. i will never look back.
Further it is their choice to play anything. Why those dont have essential character get fair chance in PVE?
Look like you are the only guy defending this **** change0 -

yes a more casual play mode not demanding but reward able0 -
I have to say, I'm liking the 8 hours more than I thought I would. Makes for a much less grindy experience. I"m not playing this PVE that hard, though, so not sure how it would work with a "normal" PVE.0

Eight hours seems fine for me so far. My scaling is just a lot higher than normal lol0

The 8 hour refresh doesn't change the fact that whoever is on the winning side of scaling is still going to win no matter what but at least you don't have to grind as much compared to before. It's a pretty good stop-gap fix but in the long run PvE has to be more than just whoever happen to have the lowest scaling relative to his roster wins.0

Dont think so , 8 hors is different story in tuning when to play. sure buy more health pack. The side effect is less real game competitive and more P2w.
in a fixed event time 120 total hours
with 4 hr refresh we have 30 rounds to grind for points. same there 30 rounds to try hard mission
with 8 hr refresh we have only 15 rounds to grind for points . same there 15 rounds to try hard mission
In basic math there is no different in 4 hrs and 8hrs'
however real world is NOT based on linear projection. more you try, more possibility you win or loss. In a competitive base, more try means more chance to win your competitor.0 -
As we're about halfway through, I have to say that the 8hr refresh has been delightful.
Able to play more LRs and PVP when I wanted more to play and meanwhile able to hit before bed and get some sleep without watching my placement totally tank to insomniac obsessives.
I'm expecting an adjustment, but I'd be good with 8hrs. My guess is we'll end up at 6hrs as a compromise.0 -
Why on earth are people saying 6 hours is better than 8 hours? Okay maybe 6 hours is better for your particular schedule but I'm sure 8 hours works out better for some other people's schedule. Do people really think they'll be able to grind slightly more with 6 hours to stay ahead of others? You'll just find other people also grinded slightly more too. The dominant factor in PvE right now is still scaling. Simulator Hard favors strong rosters, while most other events favor weak rosters. If you're on the wrong side of scaling you're probably not going to win without extraordinary effort and it doesn't matter if the missions refreshed every hour or every day, because there's always some guy who can play as much as you out there. It's true with 8 hours scaling you probably can't win in against someone with a scaling advantage even with an extraordinary effort but it's probably a good thing that the game is putting a stop to extraordinary efforts like waking up at 3am to beat someone who has more favorable scaling than you.0

It is about chance . For more refresh time, you get more chance to win. It is just nature of competition, you join a competition and you want to win. refresh in 8 hrs seriously effect play time / chance and life cycle. If the end time is not at 12:00 of you time prepare to wake up at 4am or 3am to being competitive. Nothing change
Further Rubblerbanding problem will expended due to reduction in refresh times.0 -
I'd prefer 8 (or even 4) to 6, but that has more to do with my personal schedule than anything else. 6 doesn't divide neatly with my work or sleep schedule; 4 and 8 do.0

Vhailorx wrote:So I applaud the devs for trying, but I strongly, strongly urge them to move more towards the direction of the gauntlet, where difficulty is the reward gatekeeper, rather than some other player's willingness to play the game non-stop and pay for endless healthpacks. (and know that some people like competitive pve and the devs have said it isn't going away, but can we at least get more gauntlet style events and something closer to a 50/50 split, rather than one gauntlet per quarter?)
Please, more non-competitive content like the gauntlet!

Just want to add in that I love having these longer refreshes. Thanks!
The only downside to 8 hours is, if you plan to sleep 8 hours, you have to play immediately before going to sleep and immediately when you wake up. I prefer not to, so that means I can't hit 3 plays a day. But then, I haven't been hitting that often anyway because of other things to do in life and not overly playing this game. But I do wonder about 7 hours.
So thanks for the change keeping it this way is way better than it was before!0 -
Ok seriously. The scaling upped before i even got to try all the nodes aries node started around level 204 and now they are at level 214. The node went from a normal setting to the hard setting before I could even try to beat it at normal. Hope i can survive with 50% boost on all colors. Oh and the hardest node in the alaska subset, which is also set to hard, is the only node that has only given me one reward. So around 4 or 5 I am going to have to hit that node atleast 3 times.0

An "easy" node with a Daken can be a million times harder than anything labelled "deadly" which only includes overscaled goons.
Just because a node switches from "normal" to "hard" doesn't mean it changes difficulty - start looking at enemy levels.
A level 214 Ares isn't harder than a level 204 one - once he's past level 200, you need a ton of luck +all ISO boosts to beat him consistently.
Yes, scaling is bad, but the given difficulty of the node doesn't make an iota of difference.0 -
Gotta say I'm really enjoying these 8-hour refreshes. It doesn't feel like an unbearable grind anymore.
Maybe the rewards need more refinement, but the extended refreshes have to stay.0 -
I enjoy the 8 hr refreshes. I'm currently top 50 in this event.
Normally, with 2.5 hr refreshes I am a top ten player. I don't mind "losing" out on the reward tiers I would normally accrue due to having the availability to play every 2.5 (or 3 hours). I do echo a bunch of players ideas...
Such as:
1) All players should be able to receive a certain level of prize (ie. A Squirrel Girl cover for 220000 pts.) However, when setting prizes, please take into account the amounts of refreshes that can occur over the course of an event. If your event is going to last seven days, please consider having something for those players to receive.
I'm not sure what the devs are "happy" "giving away" to grinders. I just know it isn't a good feeling to hit the max progression halfway through a seven day event, and then have to play each refresh just to protect a spot. If the event were shorter, that would change the equation.
TLDR
- Eight hour refreshes were much more fun, even though I'm not getting as high placement.
- Please consider having additional progression for grinders when events are (a week) long.
- If not willing to have additional progression rewards, please consider shortening the length of events.0 -

Next time is thanos 5* see how it works..... limited top 20 placement and i think you will damn demriuge form the very begining0 -
I'll echo those saying they enjoy the changes. For me it doesn't seem to have affected my position. I'm normally top 50 and I'm still top 50. But it does make the game a lot more enjoyable and less grindy. If things had kept going as they were I was considering stopping playing due to burnout.0
