We get the second most ridiculously absurd character in the Marvel Universe before fan favorites like Gambit, Doctor Strange or Cyclops. Outrageous.

Lets be careful who we call "favorites", I'm guessing anyone who didn't grow up on the (admittedly awesome) 90's X-Men cartoon doesnt care one bit about Gambit.
Cyclops is probably #1 if you made a list of important heroes in the Marvel Universe who aren't in the game but you also need to consider powers, Optic Blast is a powerful Red, but then what? a leadership ability like Ms. Marvel's? Phoenix would make a better character I think.

Cyclops is a tool. He's the Iron Man of the X-Men, and I'll be glad when he becomes a character in MPQ only for the chance to destroy him.

I almost agreed with you except Iron Man kicks ****.

I'm debating whether it's worth leveling up Ms. Marvel. If anyone has her, with 3/5/5 build, what are the damage values of her abilities @ 134?
  • Unboosted, with 3/5/5 she has:

    Red - 629dmg destroying 2 protect tiles

Black - 734dmg follow by a second hit of 675

Yellow - depends on the cascade

    Match damage you're looking at:

    Y - 49
    R - 55
    Blue - 10
    P - 9
    G - 11
    Black - 43

    Crit - 4.5x
    TU - 30

Not sure of what the exact numbers are when boosted, but I know the first hit from Sonic Boom is over 1k

I have her at 3/5/5. At lv 134 she's got 6900 hp, red does 886 and black does 1034 (CD does 950).

Anyone else feel kind of bad for Torch? He has some powerful attacks but because he's fairly squishy and high-maintenance he's under-used and generally under-leveled. But now he's the star of a Heroics PVE ! With the prize being new character, to boot! Finally!! Torch gets the spotlight he so very much desires. And his supporting cast is pretty decent with some nice synergy and complementary colors. His huge buff means his attacks hit even harder and it gives him more health which has always been his weakness.

The Captain America crashes the party. Everyone just uses him and Torch returns to the bench for everything but essential nodes. And there's a pretty decent chance that everyone will bring Cap to those as well. Maybe Torch will get lucky and cascade into some green AP so he can try to redeem himself with Flame Jet but then Rags or Juggs will destroy the CD tile on the next turn. The player will sigh and remember why he or she never uses Torch in the first place. And everything will go back to the way it was.

    Poor Torch.

There are so many feeder nodes that getting big damage down early seems to be a better strategy than a war of attrition, favoring Torch. After one run through the city, Steve felt quite sluggish in comparison, enough to make me think about feeding Torch some iso.

While I agree Torch kinda blows(he's good overall, but still), it's how this game is designed. Characters do dmg no matter what and the less tanky characters deal same dmg as more sustainable/high hp ones making glass cannons like torch less favorable.

That being said, Blade did make it pretty nice for Torch: Nightstalker > Flame Jet.

So, I know everyone else was shuddering when they saw 'Heroic' flash across their screen, but this sub isn't that bad, apart from the scaling that will inevitably happen. Blade is able to keep their AP stock in check while torch slowly greenflag.pngs them, Cap coming in for the knockout redflag.png. Health pack usage is pretty high(No MagStorm icon_e_sad.gif!!)
  • I have no idea why you wouldn't be using Torch and Captain America at the same time unless you're just hoping you'll always get the exactly one color (red) you need for Captain America to do damage. There are even circumstances where a Fireball is better than Star Spangled Avenger (not common, but it's possible). He takes a ton of damage but he only 900 less HP than Captain America after the extra level buff, so if something can hurt him it can hurt Captain America just fine. As long as you have someone with purple he'd be only tanking his colors + TU, which is an acceptable amount and there are some pretty good purple guys to use in this event too.

I haven't touched Steve in this heroic at all actually. Torch and [3/5/5, suck it 5/3/5 people!] Blade have been carrying the team damage wise, and Spidey's protect tiles actually make a significant impact at preventing 1-2k match damage in these extended matches. Steve feels just really slow by comparison: KYCE / flame jets / inferno are all the sustained damage you need to win the fights, and Spidey's blue is significantly faster at making Rags use red instead of juggs for that one node.

And in terms of red, blade has anti synergy with lc, 8 is possible with incidental matches and denying 4-matches, 11 is not. And blade is the mvp of these characters

The last major event I've read in the Marvel universe was Civil War, so I hold to a pervasive philosophy of "Iron Man was wrong!"

I'm running the same team/basic strategy and I agree that it's working nicely even with my fully-covered but under-leveled Torch and Spidey. But our rosters aren't representative of 99% of the player base. I obviously don't have any proof of this but my gut says that many more people have well-covered/leveled Caps than Torches.

Right. Your original post just mentioned how Cap crashed the party and rendered Torch useless, when really the reverse happened and the heroic actually makes Torch rain down on Cap's parade for once. Suck it top tier chars like Cap! The B listers are comin to town.

To be honest blade eats cap's lunch.

This is the first Heroic I haven't hated in quite a while.....probably because I really enjoy using icon_humantorch.png , so him having the superbuff is perfect for me....

icon_captainamerica.pngicon_humantorch.pngicon_spiderman.png have been my goto team for the harder nodes, icon_gamora.pngicon_ms_marvel.pngicon_blackwidow.png for the easier teams...
  • why is there an under-utilization of magneto? I have enjoyed using him besides being squishy but all my characters for this heroic are under leveled

Haven't played for several months... Is there anything resembling rubberbanding or has this been scrapped?
