thanks for that info. I ususally check in around 7pm the night the last event ends to see if anything is up icon_e_smile.gif

this 8 hour hard reset is going to be bad. I like to grind and really no reason to keep playing if they keep these hard resets

    Well fought, well played.

GG. Thought maybe I could shortcut the 2*-3* transition by starting blue on my 4/0/0 fury.
Got excited, joined early, never again.

So glad the new pve's are 8 hour refreshes now. And hoping I got a headstart on a new Squirrel Girl Meta.

I hope they only do it one time for the 8 hour refreshes or the game is dead to me. I like to grind and dont have the people needed to play PVP hard. IF they keep the 8 hour hard refresh on your going to see a lot of people leave the game

got 108k and ended in 17th. 155k was top in mine as well (think picked the 3rd slice (ended at 3pm est)

I'm sorry to be the one to have to say this, but most (99%+) of players want a refresh greater than 2.5 or 3 hours. I have a job. I have a wife. I have a kid. I have friends. I would like to schedule my life around them, not the game. I do not like being punished by the game (missing refreshes) if I decide to both have dinner and see a movie with them.

I think the largest problem is when they started time slices, it started automatically entering people into subs. So players were having to play all the time. Also, I think if you speak to others that have been grinding PVE for a lot longer than you, you'll see that a lot just get burnt out. Unless you have only been playing a few months, you probably know the repetitiveness (especially for 20 ISO rewards) of which they speak.

Hopefully, the thread in the Character section is correct and there will be a daily PVE feature coming soon. Hopefully, that will fill your grinding needs.

been playing since nov 1. Dont see how you can say that the refresh was 2.5 or 3 hours. You play the same nod twice it knocked it down to 5 hours play it again knocked it down to 9 hours, so if you wanted a 9 hour refresh you only had to replay the same item 3 or 4 times.

I say they are getting out of the Grind game just to force people to put real cash into the game. Like i said before if they choose to stick to this 8 hour refresh im going to be thinking of finding a new game to spend my cash in.

One thing i did not like that if someone was burned out this game mostly rips them cause if you dont place top xxxx (what rank you need for the new person) there is no way your going to ever catch back up

wait and see how it goes but looks like i may just be looking for a new game to call home if what i heard is real

This post took me a while to parse in my head, but let me see if I get what you're saying:

"D3 is making this change to punish grinders, and force them into putting cash into the game, since non-grinders now can much more easily compete with grinders in PvE."

    Is my interpretation correct?

If they are trying to make people who Grind if they want to play more and try to push them to play Pvp they will have to put real cash into the game cause most people who just joined in the last few months have no chance again people who have been here for year or so. I know i hit the 3 star wall within an hour of any PVP and with just having 2 stars max unless i want to put REAL cash into this game i have no chance. At least with PVE i can come back and play whenever i want. instead of playing in the PVE and hopefully getting up to 350 to 400 pts and just being attacked by massive 3 star people and losing 100 to 150 pts or even making it up that high

A couple of comments here. You have been playing since Nov. 1, which means that your scaling is non-existent compared to more veteran players. When your scaling starts to get out of control (typically when your 3 stars go enough past 94 that your 2 stars are no longer useful on the harder half of the nodes), you will appreciate not having to grind to keep up.

2 You could play the same node 3 times and make an artificial 8 hour refresh. However, if you did that, you would receive about 80% of the points that someone would receive for playing the node every 2 hr 30 minutes. Most competitive people try not to give away 20% of their points to a game mechanic.

TBH I skipped a few clears (only doing essentials, I love going vs 1 active 2 goon with spiderman) and often the hard node in favor of putting in some time on PVP. It was a pretty laid back pve for me. Also I my Fury is 1/5/1 so I had no reason to try for top2

If you want to grind, there are many more insidious F2P games out there you can try.

I welcome 8 hour refresh times with open arms - I haven't placed good in any events where I've actually had to work. Hopefully this can change that. Also, grinding nodes to make up for the fact that you're going to sleep is annoying.
  • I don't even get why people are saying you can't grind. If you're somehow able to sustain the same pace for the final 8 hours that'd give you a practically impossible to overcome lead. It's probably not happening because the scaling seems to really pick up at the very end and assuming everything is roughly tripled on the pace (since there are roughly 1/3 the total number of clears) it'd take an unbelievably strong roster and/or HP expenditure to pull this off. But if you can, the advantage for grinding is even more decisive than before.

On a more productive note, is it normal that I am now getting enemies that are on average 80+ levels above my main roster and with double the health, so basically, as soon as I lose one character, I'm done? If by some fluke, I win, there is no viable roster remaining.

Is there anyone around alliance 80-100? Kinda curious what the cut off for top 100 will be like. Thanks!

Depends on the node and your personal/community scaling.

    Depends on your bracket.

Alliances are unbracketed. I'm asking for the point total for anyone around the 80th-100th ranked alliance so we can gauge how much wiggle room my alliance has.

I'm kinda dubious of the player in the #2 slot in my bracket. His highest leveled char is at 55 and yet he's been keeping 2k ahead of me since the event began. His usable roster for the current sub is:
      3* Torch 1/1/2 - 55 Blade 0/1/0 - 40 OBW 1/0/3 - 31 1* Iron Man 5/3/3- 30 1* Hawkeye 5/5 - 30 Ms Marvel 2/0/1 - 23 1* Storm 1/3/3 - 16
By comparison, my usable roster included capped CStorm, 2* Wolvie, OBW and 1* Iron Man, along with Torch, Falcon, Ms Marvel, Blade & CSpidey ranging from 43 to 80.

How likely is it that the above roster is placing #2 overall (with 117k points)? And yes, I admit I'm just overly keen to place in the top 2 myself icon_e_smile.gif

    Thanks!

Killed me man icon_e_sad.gif The first time I ever tried to push that hard in anything in the game, figured a Heroic I could do it. Waking up in the middle of the night, etc. Over 150,000 points, and couldn't get top 2. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

If it makes you feel any better, it cost me 1.5k HP to keep up with the scaling in this event. Word to the wise "plan for the future"
