Oscorp: Heroic Jan. 13-21

Blade is a champ and I'm so glad I leveled him, but man, I have NO ONE else to play besides him. OBW is good, but I can't seem to get Blade to stop tanking black and purple. My HT is no slouch, but underleveled, and the rest of the available characters I haven't put any iso into.
Thankfully I lucked into the slice 3 bracket that just opened up. I'm at #53 and while my lead is tentative, if the bracket fills up slowly, I should have a good shot at 1 Squirrel Girl cover.
Edit: fixed pronoun. Blade is tanking black & purple over OBW.0 -
I had Human Torch slightly slightly under levelled since I don't foresee using him that much. However, my scaling in this heroic is getting pretty bad and is taking its toll on my health packs. So I maxed my HT. I know in the long term this is pointless and eventually the scaling will just overtake me again, but it should help for this event at least. Sure enough I had an easier time beating a hard node. Then right after that, the enemies on that node go up by 25 levels each.
So much for that short term advantage.0 -
Even with a maxed HT and Blade the final node is still kicking my **** on a regular basis - if it's not silly damage from Ares green / yellow then it's strike tiles (which you have to accept to deny Ares his green) and blue from Daken. It's simply not worth bothering with unless you're fighting it out for top 2. I might windstorm cheese it at the end using blue boosts but Storm dies incredibly quickly otherwise due to high match damage, strike tiles and low heath.
Personally I'm comfortable in 30th and watching the top 10 battle it out for a fairly average power 3* extra cover.0 -
Top ten is looking out of reach (I'm at ~15th), especially since I have to work today, so I think rather than stress myself out today, I'm going to do what I can do and accept top 20 or 50 and go to bed at a reasonable hour. Considering I recognize about half the names I can see, I think I ended up in a tough bracket.0

I got (and am happy with) 17th in my bracket (first slice). Congrats to...the following for their higher scores.
1) Mr1306 of the "Dark Reigners" at 154,799 points
2) Tintguy of "WE ARE GROOT" at 152,564 points
3) Daver321 of "Voltron Force" at 143,794 points
4) Kriegerbot9000 of "MPQ Italia" at 141,218 points
5) Jonny1punch of "DMZ Sparta" at 140,620 points
6) ArkPrime of the "Skrull Empire" at 140,442 points (Poor Ark, just missed top 5!)
7) Yuiuy of the "Wrecking Crew" at 138,716 points
8) pettuto of "MPQ Italia"at 138,495 points
9) tGoS of "Risingsun" at 137,194 points
10) Striker23 of "Thunderkittens" at 136,416 points
...and myself at 17th with 122,939 points.
Well fought, well played.0 -
I've found that HT/Falcon/mStorm make a good combo for the hardest 3 nodes. My Falcon tanks blue for Storm, so all I have to do is try to feed green/red to HT and get all the blue possible. And if I have enough pink layout a bird strike, and I'm set. I have been taking an easier way with the +3 B/P boost but not every play through.0

I doubt this will work for most people, but I have my Blade leveled under OBW's espionage, so that OBW's espionage uses strikes twice. Have generally been beating the last node with Blade/OBW/AWolverine, though a bad cascade can still force a retreat. Definitely need OBW for any Ares node this round; having her steal Blue from Daken also helps.0

Ouch, tough bracket. Success in this game has a lot to do with luck of the draw. I finished very comfortably in 4th with 120,190. 5th was a little over 8k behind me.
I wouldn't even be top 10 in your bracket. Though I may have joined after the first sub. I think I played 3 sub's.0 -

It's not even worth trying - either have to use an ungodly amount of boosts or use health packs which I can't afford(have to save them for human torch for essentials, etc.)0 -
So... it's ~17 hours to go, which means about 5 FULL refreshes and then another 3 refreshes if anyone decides (and has the scaling to do so) to grind to 1... this means that there's still about 40.000 points on the table...
Damnit...
So my 25.000 lead over number 3 is not enough and I need to play some more :<
Or am I wrong?0 -

Nope if someone puts in the effort 40K in that time is very possible. As its easy to score 10K+ in the last 40 minutes the final hour will be a constant updating of the leader board to see how many more nodes I need to do. (Well assuming I am finishing top 5 in the sub)0 -
First, wanted to say that I won't be taking blue Fury from anyone in our bracket, just want to secure top 10, and am likely to play lightly the last hours.
Second... my Time For Some Answers node nearly became the first non-Gauntlet node to outscale me out of being able to beat it.
I could beat it with 50/50 success up to lvl 325, but when it scaled to 347, I started wiping all my teams there. Daredevil, HT, Blade, oBW, cStorm, Spidey, Falcon, you name it, they all dropped like flies to the unfairness that is overscaled Ares/Daken/Yelena, even fully boosted (ISO boosts only, though). They are full rainbow, so each match hurts, there is no overlap in skills so whenever they get 2 green or blue matches, you are in for some big hurt.
I was in dismay, I am not used to some PvE node telling me I cannot beat it while trying my best.
So how do I manage this?
The process is lengthy so it's under the spoiler tag1. Start with the following:
Preferably decent level Spidey, otherwise match damage alone will kill you. Decently leveled Marvel doesn't hurt, she's tanky for a 2*.
2. Target Yelena with match damage - it's useless trying to dip into Ares and Daken's healthpools at this level without some sorta cheap trick. Rush purple for match damage protection while charging cHawkeye's quiver, and collect yellow to rush Marvel's Strategic Command. Doesn't matter how but you should acquire enough TUAP for Murderous Aim (16) and a way to place 2 crit tiles on the board, which cHawkeye and Marvel both can do, Hawkeye more reliably.
3. Time for some vengeance! Select that cheap bastard with the axe...
Place crit tiles carefully with cHawkeye, you don't want those to make a match too early.
Now launch Dark Avenger on Dark Avenger Team-Up Action Power!
Ares goes down immediately - sayonara, hasta la vista, do svidaniya, I don't care if you're Greek.
4. Repeat the process for Daken, now you don't have to care about red, green and yellow AP denial, thankfully. Spidey did his job and built up shields for you, so as long as Yelena doesn't get her hands on too much black AP, you can sacrifice Spidey to Daken's attacks while building up the next DA on DA Team-Up Action Power.
For the brat with the claws, a smaller TUp will suffice well enough.
I got a crit tile while matching and placed Hawkeye's crit tile near black tiles which belong to Marvel. She has a very nifty crit multiplier of 4,5x, the highest characters can possess. So when Daken falls silently to his pal Bullseye's snipery betrayal, Yelena, what's left of her, drops to match damage created by multiple crit tiles in one fell swoop, conveniently enough.
Whales Team-Ups and saved up Deadpool points live to see another day and maybe save some other event!
Now I need to restock on those handy Bullseye Team-Ups, though...0 -

Wow! Someone once told me that Bullseye's black was good now that the way critical tiles resolved had changed. I can almost remember who it was, very foggy, like have not seen/heard from that person in a while.
Not you, this time, DLaw.0 -

Slowly being scaled out of "Imposters Assemble" with a little over 11 hours to go in the event as I am having to use 2 health packs each clear since yesterday.
Guess my attempt at staying in T10 is tenuous at best since my lead is only about 2000 points.0 -

FWIW, a few of the top 10 have been pushing overnight (relative to EST), so I'm guessing/hoping that they're due for a final push and aren't actually waking up in the early morning for this.0 -

GG. Thought maybe I could shortcut the 2*-3* transition by starting blue on my 4/0/0 fury.
Got excited, joined early, never again.
So glad the new pve's are 8 hour refreshes now. And hoping I got a headstart on a new Squirrel Girl Meta.0 -

Oh hey Grumpy - didn't realize it was you in my bracket!
I'd hope so as I took a few hours off yesterday so I missed a few refresh or two and especially now that I'm scaled out of the last 2 non-essentials.0 -

I hope they only do it one time for the 8 hour refreshes or the game is dead to me. I like to grind and dont have the people needed to play PVP hard. IF they keep the 8 hour hard refresh on your going to see a lot of people leave the game
got 108k and ended in 17th. 155k was top in mine as well (think picked the 3rd slice (ended at 3pm est)
We should know the next event in an hour or so if its starts tomorrrow0
