Finally got through node 38, after 10 attempts or so. Turned out lvl 134 Wolverine, lvl 134 CStorm and lvl 54 OBW is exactly what you need to beat lvl 190 juggernaut.0
-
186 ObW teamed up with falcon and the only character I even have that breaks 161. Finally get a stress free pve event and Demi F's it all up with their lazy idiotic idea of balance and scaling.
and the fanboys wonder why players get mad...0 -
This really is a great PVE. It has a long time frame, and I think for a majority of players, it is doable. It's really frustrating in places. About four or five times, I've been wiped out, then went in with another team, and got through. I even cleared a few with Classic Storm and MMN that I couldn't with X-F and Laken. It's pretty nice to dip into your roster.
That said, I've lost my final event, essential 15, which should be easier than essential 18 and simulation 42, a few times. Last time, I was about to use my last resort, saved up Whales Whales Whales points, and couldn't get it off. So I have to wait, and decided to surf the forums. That said, this event takes a bit of luck, but also strategising against your enemies. It really is the best PVE they have, and man, it's satisfying to finish. I say that as someone who finished the last one, and tapped out of the first one.0 -
Finished everything and got my Loki cover. The only cover I didn't get is Moonstone due to some bug with the points, but I don't give a poop about her.
This event is A-W-E-S-O-M-E for various reasons.
- You don't need to grind nodes again and again until your fingers bleed. There is a sense of accomplishment when you down a team.
- There is no pressure for finishing it early or later. The time frame is comfortable too.
- It challenges your Puzzle Quest skills. For real, not only you have to pick a team that works well within it, you also have to plan ahead and be very careful about your next move, especially on the third sub.
- It encourages roster diversity. While there is one preferred team always, you can't use it through all the nodes because your preferred heroes will appear as enemies from time to time. You will have to work around your roster and try different combos one way or another.
- Your progress is not put on the line if you get wiped. Unlike normal PVE, where 1-2 wipes puts you back a whole clean and many points, you can die as many times as you want here and not lose anything.
Overall, I love this PVE. It does not give as many rewards as others do, but you don't have to go through the tedious 2.5 hrs refresh to get them. I think the rewards perfectly balance this game mode. Two 3* covers, 100HP, one 2*, 2 tokens and ISO which is open for everyone to get it without having to compete against anyone.
I'd really like it if D3 would work around creating more PVEs like this one.0 -

I disagree with the comment about roster diversity...
and I think you meant you get three 3* covers (blue shulk, blue mystique, green loki) - which could be arguably better than other pve events depending on how well you normally finish (one 3* cover at the final pve progression, +1 if top 150~, +1 if top 100~ alliance, +1 if top 50~, +1 if top 10~).
Other than that, I think the gauntlet is a nice break from normal pve grinding. Provides some challenges to everyone and some cursing when you get destroyed by the same node again and again. Hope you have Deadpool whale points saved up!0 -
Well that is all the non essentials done without any boosts or TU's. Last fight was a bit slow - used GSBW/Cap/Hood the team only took one ability - deadpool got a little off the top off. Any more and I would have been in real trouble as only just made it out alive taking matched damage after that.
Just need to go back and mop up the rest of the nodes tomorrow.0 -
I cannot beat node 40 (4* Thor, Rags, Loki) for the life of me. I've died at least a dozen time on this effing node. Any advice?0

Can you use Deadpool to Whales it?
I just beat it using a WWW TU and Patch/Daken + a random 1*. Boosted 3+ to TU AP and retreated a couple times until I got a TU-rich board. What a pain in the keister.0 -

I used X-Force cMags and Captain Marvel on #40. I took down Loki first and also made sure he was stunned with Marvel's black before setting off any power that could cause cascades. Captain Marvel's black was extremely useful to me in a lot of nodes.0 -

Thor 189, Ragnarok 190, Loki 190
VS
OBW 94, Captain Marvel boosted to 156, C Storm boosted to 134
+3 purple/blue
Deny red, green, yellow, blue. collect purple when available
Started on Loki, took him down to where he would die to wind storm. used wind storm on Thor, start on Ragnarok, took him down as close to wind storm threshold as possible, wind storm Thor a second time, finished off Ragnarok, finished off Thor with stockpiled Photonic Blasts and Hypersonic Punch
Enemy team only got off 2 abilities, 1 Godlike Power and 1 Thunderclap, both hit Marvel which she absorbed and built red0 -

I already beat the node in question. Node 41 was a piece of cake--beat it on my first try. There was just something about 40 that was kicking my **** for the longest time.0 -
Lately on any hard node I've come across, I put Hulk middle then either Lthor/Xforce/Patch whichever I can use + whoever and it has been working for me. He can't go many fights in a row but is a great green battery. He was great for me in this and the previous one w/Doom & Mystique0

I know it's not the norm, but I've been having great success with the ladies (laaaaadies, how you doin'?)
My go-to team has been Captain Marvel, Classic Storm and... She-hulk.
Cappycutie and Shulkie are both level 120, but the trio smashed through nodes nicely.
"Ewwww Shulkie" I hear you cry! But hey! Listen! All three of these characters are boosted, and that helps then a LOT.
What do I get when I take the ladies out on the town?
* 2 stuns - Cappie's black and Cstorm's blue
* 2 (3) AoE attacks - Shulkie's red and Cstorm blue (and yellow, if FUBAR)
* 2 board shakers - Cstorm's green and Shulkie's red.
* AP generators - punch Cappie in the face? Get AP. Goddess laid down 50000 charged tiles? CStorm green snaps 'em up like bar peanuts (and benefits from their chargeyness.)
Not the highest damage outputters, but these ladies had a great night out.
Edited for ap generation!0 -
A lot of the nodes are themed in some way like there was one that was Daken/Daken/Patch last Simulation which is probably themed regen + Phermone Rage. Now whether there's anything you can actually do about some of the stupidly overpowered themes is an entire different question altogether. Just be glad they haven't thought of something like 3 Dakens yet.0
-
Finished without using Whales. A lot of XForce/Hood. Though a couple of the main nodes I tried that Loki/Mohawk/Rags endless combo and it actually worked more than half the time.0

- It challenges your Puzzle Quest skills.
I don't even want to imagine how ridiculous Gauntlets are for those with high (max) leveled 4* when any bigger cascade kill you just by match damage.
I don't agree with roster diversity either, you have to use best chars for simple reason how overpowered enemies are, if one of your best guy can't be used just choose your next best guy - the ony roster diversity in this is fact if you have only 2 good guys, then you are screwed0
