  • I think it will be more fun for me once I get more covers as my highest 3*s are Blade 2/0/3 and Psylocke 0/0/4, both as leveled as they can be at 76 Cap Marvel is close behind at 3/1/1 and "maxed" at 68.

My maxed 2* are OBW, Ms Marvel, Hawkeye, Storm, and Wolvie...so nodes that take one or more of them away really hurt...

Edit: 50th post!! I'm no longer a Trainee! lol

I love that I don't have to grind to keep up with other grinders in order to get rewards so I can play at my own pace and not worry so much if I miss a refresh. I also like how you only have to play a node once as it keeps it fresher than going back over the same one time and time again just because you need to to keep up your rank.

I hate how difficult it can be for those of use that may have diverse rosters, but aren't covered enough to make that a good thing. This combined with how difficult the nodes can be, especially when the node uses one or more of the few fully covered characters you rely on to advance, means that I am essentially still "grinding" every 2.5 hours as I'm waiting for healing to be able to tackle the next one with fingers crossed.

I also wish the reward structure was different. In the usual PVE's I have always come away with at least 2 3* covers (One from progression and at least one but usually more from placement) along with a couple Heroics depending on the event. With Gauntlet, I will be lucky to get one Heroic and super lucky if I can manage to get one 3*

At the very least, I think that the end reward for the first part should be a Heroic and that either scaling should be lowered a tad (not much cause I still want it to be a challange) or that more (possibly all, making it the BoP of PVE) characters should be buffed considering you will hit many nodes where you cant use certain characters. (much more than the usual PVE)

    This!

(100% Agreement from another 2*-3* transitioner).

This is how I cleared the Thor/XForce/Deadpool (level 395) using Storm/Rags/Loki and boost 3 R/Y and 3 All AP then Deceptive Tactics team up which was never used. 41 moves in a row enjoy! http://youtu.be/BsmtfVnHEPY

EDIT: Video is 1.5x and I'm probably one of the few excited for Green Loki.
  • Don't think I'll pass Sim 32 icon_e_sad.gif

    CMags, Hulk, GSBW, lvl 162

Can't use Mags/Storm, can't use OBW, only maxed cover 3* cover I have is Blade.
  • I do not even have 1 max 166 characters yet I face level 249-277 AI in the final few nodes of this event.

Now that cMag and Sentry are nerfed, why are the scaling is high? If we are facing 166 teams in PvP and people are complaining, how does it make it more right to see level 200+ enemies?

The entire idea of this event was to enable players to be able to relax and not compete against each other, but the hidden fact is, it is still a race against time because nodes still increase, despite getting wiped multiple times on the same node, not only did the scaling did not retreat, when I did finally beat it, the level instantly went up 10-20 levels.

reward is also pretty weak for the effort difficulty in place.

Managed Node 42 (@ lvl 395) on my first try with LCap/Hood/OBW. Lots of priority to Blue/Purp early to just keep a stranglehold on enemy AP. They never got off a special, but even the match damage adds up fast. Once I had the yellow for Cap's Sentinel match damage was done and the game got markedly easier. Then it was just a matter of whittling down (via 4k Cap shields) lots of HP. Definitely takes some board planning though and it's often much more important to make a match in order to control what the enemy team will be able to match than to get a color you need. Hood's black is really nice when you've got multiple cap tiles counting down at once.

Yup. As another transition player, #38 was just about as awful as it gets. 4 times in a row, each time it was heavily populated wit 5 matches and bundles of unblockable reds. (200lvl juggs, loki and cmags) with my highest char being 130, it was match red, match red, headbutt death. Finally gave them the whales. But I only had one saved up, so that might be the end for me.

Fwiw, 4/5 matches of TU tiles does not trigger mischief.

Wow that was amazing, thanks for sharing. My non-maxed versions of those 3 characters are probably not up to the challenge, but I may try it anyway if I can get that far. Cheers!
  • I just picked up my third Steve Rogers Red cover (Spent iso spamming Standard Tokens) so now I can overwrite tiles. Still can only "max" him at 66, but hoping the added power will help with some of these nodes.

You could stop whining for starters.

1 day in of the 4 day event and already at the final nodes and complaining about it being too hard. Some people are unbelievable.
  • It's that time of year again where we all praise the Gauntlet to high heavens, and the developers look at all the positive feedback and decide that we won't see it again for a few months.

TAKE THE HINT, DEVELOPERS. THE GAUNTLET IS THE WAY OF THE FUTURE.

meh, I never liked the Gauntlet events and probably never will. Probably all depends on where you are at in this game, people with well developed rosters probably like the Gauntlet more and people in the transition probably prefer regular PVE more.

    Wrong.
Transitioning players can't score high in pvp to get 3 star covers so we have Pve geared roster. when gauntlet takes away our few good combos (mags storm) we can't complete gauntlet. can't compete gauntlet means no Loki. no Loki means poor score in next pve with him as essential. poor pve score means even fewer 3 star covers. fun...

    Wrong.
I'm firmly in the grip of the 2-3 transition. I have a few 3* with max covers, but none at lvl 166. I love Gauntlet. It allows me to work more or less at my own pace, and it's a fun challenge to not be able to use the same characters I always do. Usually I just send out Patch/LCap/OBW. Now I'm forced to try different combinations and come up with new strategies in order to win. I've never really focused much on BP, Captain Marvel, Hulk or Psylocke, but now they're becoming my lifelines when I can't use Patch/LCap/OBW or CStorm/MNMags/MHawk.

Plus it's nice not having to play the same node over and over (unless I can't beat it).

It's only personal scaling, not sure what to tell you.

I made a guide earlier in the thread, but also:

IF YOU ARE SAYING YOU CANT BEAT A NODE YOU NEED TO USE DEADPOOL WHALES, ITS NOT OUR FAULT YOU HAVENT SAVED YOUR DEADPOOL POINTS.

As I'm transitioning from 2* to 3*, I don't have much to add in the way of strategy or suggestions, but it's been good to learn from others in this thread as I prepare to tackle the icon_deadpool.png essentials in the second gauntlet before trekking down the third...which sounds like it's going to be whales whales and more whales, right?
  • IF YOU ARE SAYING YOU CANT BEAT A NODE YOU NEED TO USE DEADPOOL WHALES, ITS NOT OUR FAULT YOU HAVENT SAVED YOUR DEADPOOL POINTS.

All well and good IF you have Whales, but not everyone does, especially transitioners. You may as well have said:

    JUST SENTRY BOMB THE NODE.

    or

JUST USE YOUR LVL 166 3*S.

    or

JUST USE LVL 270 X-FORCE AND THOR.

This is the last time I'm gonna respond to someone who obviously didn't read my guide:

I'm a transition player with Deadpool. Again, it is not my fault you did not invest in his event or any of the subsequent ones. Everyone knew he was going to be popular.

Unless you mean "new" player by "transition player", then there's no reason why a transition player can't have a Deadpool. I earned him in his initial event with ease.

And your analogy is bad - Level 166 players will still have trouble, Level 270 players will still have trouble. Read the krutacking guide.

Next you're probably going to say transition players don't have 2*Storm/2*Mag - a combo that is still relevant against ALL formats in the game, even level 395 enemies.

There have been two gauntlets before this, and there'll be more after this. Learn from the past to prepare.

What levels are you guys caving and using whales? I'm trying to avoid it if possible because I probably only have one or two saved up. But Juggs/Loki/CMags is just owning me right now.

Nah. I have a pretty good roster and I find the entire "Try and beat this impossible node once" aspect of the Gauntlet a great time. Less profitable? Yes, but so what. The day the game itself stops being fun and all I play for is winning hp and covers is the day I go do something else where I actually have fun.

I guess it depends on the personality of the person. I simply don't find the "keep trying and losing badly in the process on some of the harder Gauntlet nodes until you get a lucky board or lucky cascade" or "using boosts up the wazoo before every fight" aspect of the later Gauntlet missions fun at all.

What I had to say was not in reference to your guide, but to the comment that we should all just use Whales.

I think its foolish to assume that ALL Transitioners are going to have played the Deadpool events and have Whales. I would consider myself a Transitioner and not "New", but my definition could be off. I have played for 71 days, which means I missed the Deadpool event. And while I do have Deadpool, I lack his Purple. If, according to you, the definition of being a Transition player is whether or not you have Whales then I think there are going to be alot of players that will be surprised they are "new".

As for my analogies, I understand the concept of Scaling. My comment was not to show lack of knowledge on my part, but to illustrate just how "helpful" your advice that we shouls all use Whales really was.

Yes, CStorm/MNMags are a great combo, and most Transitioners SHOULD have them. As I have said earlier though, if you run up against a node that has one or both of them in it, then you lose access to this combo. This is where Transitioners have some "extra" difficulty added to the Gauntlet outside of Scaling. Lack of a viable diverse roster limits us when we run into those situations, whereas those with a more diverse roster have more options available to them even tho they are facing harder opponents.

Yes the Gauntlet is a format that has been around and will continue to be around. I have played long enough to participate in two so far, including this one. And as I have also stated before, I both love and hate the format. It could use some tweaking.

All things said though, I appreciate the though you put into your reply and did not simply tell me I was wrong without providing any additional input.

Also, facing level 300+ X-Force is definitely better than facing a level 300+ Juggernaut or Ares

Guess they do read forums and how people were dealing with previous Gauntlets. In next one, final node will have Deadpool redflag.png TU to block it, calling it.

They can't block your team selection with a TU, only with characters. The enemy TU blocks your TUs but not your characters. The one it selects is based on your team selection in the first place, so it will never match a character you bring.
